    A Thematic Treatment of Violence in Jeremiah Essien’s In the Shadow of Death and Adewale Ademoyega’s Why We Struck

    The geographical entity called Nigeria was borne out of the amalgamation of the Northern, Southern Protectorates and the Lagos colony by Frederick Lord Lugard in 1914. Three major groups – Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba were given prominence over other tribes tagged as minorities. The dissenting views of the populace and extreme flamboyance of the First Republic political class and riot in the then Western Region led to the first military coup d’état in Nigeria on January 15, 1966, a counter coup on July 29, 1966, of all which culminated into a full-blown Civil War which was waged for 30 months between July 1967 and January 1970. Against this background, this paper attempts to put forward the thematic preoccupations of torture, imprisonment and murder in Essien’s In the Shadow of Death and Ademoyega’s Why We Struck. These themes form the kernel of punishment which was meted out to the coup conspirators of January 15, 1966 and undue sufferings of some minority groups in the Biafran enclave. Both books are memoirs written in the first person narrative technique as the writers lived as participants prior to, during and after the Biafran War. &nbsp

    The rapid development of technology, like today, really supports innovation in various sectors. In the education sector, technology is an important aspect of supporting the effectiveness of the learning process. There is currently a change in education due to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, which influences the learning process. This research aims to analyze existing literature regarding the use of AI in the learning process as a modern educational tool in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0. This research used qualitative research methods, where information sources were obtained from literature analysis, case studies, and related sources. This information is produced in the form of descriptions and narratives regarding a change in the modernity of educational tools caused by the progress of the educational era. Research results show that the use of AI in 21st-century education paves the way for more adaptive, interactive and comprehensive learning approaches.Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi seperti saat ini sangat mendukung inovasi di berbagai sektor. Termasuk dalam bidang pendidikan, teknologi menjadi salah satu aspek penting untuk menunjang efektivitas proses pembelajaran. Terjadi perubahan dalam dunia pendidikan saat ini akibat adanya integrasi teknologi kecerdasan buatan (AI) yang memberikan pengaruh terhadap proses pembelajaran. Proses pembelajaran yang semula dilakukan secara manual melalui membaca buku, kini semakin canggih dengan bantuan kecerdasan buatan.     Filsafat Pendidikan Pesantren di Pondok Pesantren Sabilunnaja

    This study is aimed to analyze the educational philosophy of Islamic boarding schools at the Pondok Pesantren Sabiilunnaja, Cipeundeuy, West Bandung Regency. The approach used in this research is qualitative with descriptive method. Interviews and observations are research data collection techniques. The results of the study show that Pondok Pesantren Sabiilunnaja is based on educational philosophies in terms of ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Ontologically, the educational goals of Pondok Pesantren Sabiilunnaja are aligned with the essence of pesantren education in a comprehensive manner, including increasing cognitive, psychomotor and affective competencies. As for epistemology, education is carried out by using the traditional methods such as balagan, sorogan, muhafazoh, and muhadloroh methods which are centered on kyai and santri and tend to be bayani and irfani processes. Then axiologically, Pondok Pesantren Sabiilunnaja education has ethical and aesthetic values. The typology of educational philosophy at the Pondok Pesantren Sabiilunnaja is based on neo-modernist philosophy which has the principle of al-muhafzatu ala al-qodiimi ash-shalih wa al-akhdu bi al-jadid al-ashlah which means preserving the good things that already exist, and developing new things that are better.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa filsafat Pendidikan islam di Pondok Pesantren Sabiilunnaja dalam menyelenggarakan Pendidikan yang komprehensif. Pendekatan kualitatif yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Wawancara dan observasi merupakan teknik pengambilan data penelitian. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa Pondok pesantren Sabiilunnaja berlandaskan para filsafat pendidikan secara ontologi, epistemologi, dan aksiologi. Secara ontologi, tujuan pendidikan pesantren Sabiilunnaja sudah selaras dengan hakikat pendidikan pesantren secara komprehensif meliputi peningkatan kompetensi kognitif, psikomotorik, dan afektif. Adapun secara epistemologi, pendidikan diselenggarakan dengan metode tradisional balagan, sorogan, muhafazoh, dan muhadloroh yang berpusat pada kyai dan santri serta kecenderungan proses yang bersifat bayani dan irfani. Sedangkan secara aksiologi, Pendidikan pesantren Sabiilunnaja memiliki nilai etika dan nilai estetika. Adapun tipologi filsafat pendidikan pesantren Sabiilunnaja berpijakan pada filsafat neo modernis yang berprinsip pada al-muhafzatu ala al-qodiimi ash-shalih wa al-akhdu bi al-jadid al-ashlah yang berarti melestarikan hal-hal baik yang telah ada, dan mengembangkan hal-hal baru yang lebih baik

    Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh permasalahan yang peneliti temukan di SDN 09 Koto Lua pada kelas III berjumlah lima orang siswa berkesulitan belajar. Hal ini terbukti dari hasil pengamatan yang peneliti lakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana efektivitas pola belajar visual auditori kinestetik (VAK) untuk meningkatkan kemampuan terjemahan Al-quran bagi anak berkesulitan belajar. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain penelitiannya adalah preexperimental design dengan one group pretest and postest pre eksperiment. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah tes, dan alat pengumpul data yang digunakan adalah penggalan ayat dari surat al-qoriah. Hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji Mann Whitney . Dengan kriteria pengujian penilaian penelitian ini adalah: hipotesis diterima jika Uhit > Utab pada taraf signifikan 95% atau α = 0,05. Diluar kondisi ini hipotesis ditolak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata- rata posttest siswa meningkat dari hasil pretest setelah dilakukan treatment sebanyak lima kali. Kemampuan siswa dalam menterjemahkan al-quran meningkat setelah diterapkan metode VAK.     PC Towards Understanding Zimbabwe’s Competence-Based Science Curriculum and its Implications on the Study of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics

    This study sought to gain an understanding of the Competence-Based Science Curriculum - CBSC as an approach that enhances students’ acquisition of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - STEM knowledge, skills, and attitudes. In this conceptual paper, structural analysis formed the methodological framework that guided the cross-examination of the purposively selected research articles and document policies. Structural content analysis was used to interrogate the generated data. From the findings and discussion, it was noted that the CBSC was seen as an approach that is learner-centred and grounded in constructivism and perennialism philosophies. Thus, it promotes students’ interaction with their environment during STEM learning. Though CBSC can be well-planned, designed, and documented, it is marred with some challenges. From this, the discussion forwarded possible solutions geared towards equipping teachers with relevant knowledge, and skills to effectively implement the new approach in learning activities. From this discussion, it can be concluded that CBSC as an approach if effectively implemented can promote the acquisition of STEM knowledge, skills, and attitudes

    The Evaluation of Implementation of Inclusive Education in West Sumatera

    The implementation of inclusive education in West Sumatera has been on 6 (six) years. In this period it has shown a fairly long journey. Therefore, the implementation of inclusive education in West Sumatera is comprehensively evaluated for the realization of the inclusive education goals. The evaluation process itself will be useful to see the inclusive values that have occurred in primary schools that serve students with special needs in West Sumatra. The result of this research is the context component which covers the policy aspect of the program implementation, the program objectives and the context of its relation with the social culture of the society has not been fully implemented properly. The input components covering aspects of learners (students), educators (teachers), curriculum, infrastructure facilities, and financing the implementation of programs in inclusive schools have not been fully implemented properly. Process components that include aspects of learning planning activities, implementation of learning, and evaluation of learning and difficulties faced by teachers in teaching children with special needs in inclusive schools have not been fully implemented properly. Product components that include aspects of academic development of children with special needs and aspects of social skills development of students in inclusive schools can be said to have been implemented properly

    Hubungan Lingkungan Sekolah Dan Motivasi Belajar Dengan Keterampilan Sosial Siswa Sekolah Dasar

    This research aims to determine the relationship between the school environment and learning motivation with the social skills of third-grade students at SD Negeri 5 Tilamuta, Boalemo Regency. The objective is to investigate the relationship between learning motivation and students' social skills at Negeri 5 Elementary School in Tilamuta, Boalemo Regency. The research method used in this study is correlational. A sample of 33 students was selected using purposive sampling from a total student population of 187. The results obtained in this study are as follows: There is a correlation between the school environment and children's social skills at Negeri 5 Tilamuta Elementary School, Boalemo Regency, with a correlation coefficient of 42.9%. There is a relationship between learning motivation and children's social skills at Negeri 5 Tilamuta Elementary School, Boalemo Regency, with a correlation coefficient of 19.17%. There is a combined relationship between the school environment, learning motivation, and children's social skills at Negeri 5 Elementary School in Tilamuta, Boalemo Regency, with a correlation coefficient of 68%

    This study aims to reveal the pedagogic competence of high school teachers. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the teacher's ability to carry out learning was still lacking. The teacher does not appreciate the courage and willingness of students in answering the questions given. Teachers also rarely use learning media and the methods used are also monotonous. Teachers also pay less attention to their students when learning takes place. This research includes quantitative descriptive analysis research. The population of this study were all teachers at public high schools in the city of Padang. The research sample was 67 people with the sampling technique being carried out using the Proportional Stratified Random Sampling technique. The research instrument was a questionnaire which was distributed to the research sample. Based on the results of the study it is known that 1) High School Teacher Pedagogic Competence from the aspect of understanding the characteristics of students is in the capable category. 2) The Pedagogic Competence of High School Teachers from the aspect of understanding learning theory and educational principles of learning is in the underprivileged category. 3) The Pedagogic Competence of High School Teachers from the aspect of ability in developing the curriculum is in the capable category.     Media Pembelajaran Berbahan Loose Part Berbasis STEAM Dapat Membangun Merdeka Belajar Pada Anak Usia Dini

    The purpose of this study is to analyze how learning media with media made from loose parts are an effort to build independent early childhood learning. This research method is a descriptive qualitative research. Research data collection techniques are by observation and interviews. The research was conducted at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 1 Kindergarten Wonosegoro with a total of 16 research subjects consisting of 11 female students and 5 male students. The research steps started from lesson planning to learning evaluation and follow-up. The results showed that learning with loose part media can provide freedom to play and learn so that it can build independent early childhood learning. This can be seen from increasing children's creativity, encouraging children to be active in their learning, increasing children's independence, training children's ability to work together, and building self-confidence in children. The teacher's strategy is to use loose teachers to arrange a comfortable play environment for children.     Exploring Pedagogical Content Knowledge of Teachers: a Paradigm For Measuring Teacher’s Effectiveness

    When considering the present and the future of education, it is hard to ignore the importance of teachers' subject-matter expertise. Educators' pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) is crucial to the development of effective teaching practises and the implementation of effective curricula. Since PCK permits the integration of content and pedagogy, it has the potential to have a profound and long-lasting effect on students' academic performance. For educators to do their jobs well, they need to have a firm grip of relevant information, concepts, principles, and methods. This understanding will serve as a guide for appropriate pedagogical thinking and decision making. The pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) that is part of both the art and science of teaching, however, can be difficult to understand and evaluate. Classroom observations, content representations (CoRes), pedagogical and professional experience registries (PaP-eRs), structured and semi-structured interviews, stimulated recall interviews, artefacts from teachers' tasks, concept mapping, reflective journals, tests, and lesson observations are just a few of the complex and specialised procedures required to measure PCK. Paper and pencil assessments have been hailed as a potentially useful instrument for determining PCK due to the fact that they are a trustworthy, objective, and valid procedure that may be utilised with a greater volume of samples. The easiest way to obtain PCK data for triangulation purposes from several sources is to use a combination of these approaches
