Abstract: Oculomotor signals influence the neural processing of auditory input. Recent studies have shown that this connection extends to the auditory periphery: The phase and amplitude of eardrum oscillations was systematically influenced by eye movement direction and magnitude, a phenomenon called eye movement-related eardrum oscillations (EMREOs). Previous findings have suggested that EMREOs occur independently from auditory stimulation, but it is unknown whether they depend on the presence of visual sensory input or solely reflect efference copies of the oculomotor system. To distinguish between these two alternatives, we measured eye movements and eardrum oscillations in sighted human participants who performed free saccadic eye movements in darkness. Despite the lack of any sensory stimulation during eye movements, significant EMREOs occurred in all participants. EMREO characteristics were comparable to a separate control experiment in which participants performed guided saccades to visual targets and were robust to different types of eye tracker calibration methods. Thus, our results suggest that EMREOs are not driven by bottom-up sensory signals but rather reflect a pure influence of oculomotor signals on peripheral auditory processing. This indicates that EMREOs might play a crucial role in reference frame transformations which are needed for audio-visual spatial integration.

The dataset Abbasi et al. 2025 - Experiment2.zip consists of data from 21 participants included in Experiment 2. This dataset has two sub-folders: one for the condition when the eye tracker was calibrated using the standard method and with the participant's left eye (Standard calibration), and one for the condition when the eye tracker was calibrated using the stand-in method and with the experimenter's left eye (Stand-in calibration).
Every *.mat file contains two structures, one related to the eye position in degrees (HEPos: horizontal position; VEPos: vertical position) and one related to the microphone data for each ear. The data are epoched from -200 ms to 250 ms with respect to saccade onset, with the sampling rate of 1000 Hz for the eye tracking data and 2000 Hz for the microphone data. Aeolus measurements were not used in the ERA5 climate reanalysis. This technical note (TN) presents
the results of the Work Package 3 (WP3) of the ESA-funded project “Aeolus+Processes” (project No.
4000139422/22/I-NS), which evaluates the impact of Aeolus observations in a prototype of the ERA6
(ECMWF Reanalysis v6) reanalysis system, with the goal of informing the decision of whether to use
Aeolus in ERA6.
The assessment is based on a 17-month long observing system experiments (OSEs) using the best
available Aeolus L2B winds reprocessed datasets, including the 4th reprocessing.
The Aeolus impact during this period, in which the instrument changed laser and there were two data
gaps, showed no issues in terms of mean state discontinuities, and the Numerical Weather Prediction
(NWP) impact on random forecast errors was impressive. Therefore, it was decided that Aeolus L2B
winds should be assimilated in ERA6 from September 2018 to April 2023, noting that operational NWP
use at ECMWF only began in January 2020. This study helps ensure that the full Aeolus mission dataset
value will continue to be exploited for climate reanalysis applications

In this document, we present the support mechanisms for refugee students at HEI in Germany, according to responses collected through an online questionnaire survey of these institutions. The domains covered by the survey relate to skills recognition, capacity building and civic engagement. The analysis also mentions the most common difficulties experienced by institutions in their work with this specific audience, as well as their suggestions for more sustainable and continuous work. In this particular national context, while the dimensions of skill recognition and capacity building seem to have already been developed and implemented in the universities surveyed, there are still gaps in terms of implementing civic engagement mechanisms
Mobility patterns along the Eastern Silk Roads (tenth to fourteenth centuries): a global-microhistorical perspective
This study investigates the importance of interregional mobility along the Eastern Silk Roads during the Mongol period, highlighting the interconnectedness of postal and pilgrim networks in eastern Central Asia, with a particular focus on mid-fourteenth-century changes in the multifaceted dynamics of overland mobility under Mongol rule. By referencing an extensive corpus of Old Uyghur and Middle Mongolian administrative texts, as well as pilgrim inscriptions, the research provides a nuanced understanding of the relationship between the Mongol administration and the postal system within it, and how they were connected with pilgrim activities. The article uncovers valuable insights into how mobility patterns changed over time. Furthermore, a comprehensive analysis of the geographical aspects of these networks reveals enduring links between the Eastern Tianshan Region and the Gansu Corridor, whilst also underlining the expansion of pilgrim networks during the Mongol period. The research also explores the societal implications of these mobility networks, highlighting the importance of religious affiliation and social status in overland mobility. This comprehensive analysis illuminates the Eastern Silk Roads and presents a unique perspective on the interplay of political, religious, and socio-economic factors that shaped the history of the region during Mongol rule
Anleitung zu ReCKS: Eine Webapplikation für die linguistische Erforschung von Reddit-Kommentaren
ReCKS („Reddit Corpus Keyword Search“) ist eine Webapplikation zur Stichwortsuche in Reddit-Kommentaren aus dem größten deutschsprachigen Subreddit (r/de, derzeit über zwei Millionen registrierte Nutzer:innen). Das zugrunde liegende Korpus von ReCKS umfasst ca. 1 Million Kommentare aus dem Zeitraum 2006–2023. Zwei Suchstrategien stehen zur Verfügung: eine einfache feste Suche sowie eine erweiterte Suche mit regulären Ausdrücken (RegEx). Die Treffer werden in Tabellen- und Diagrammform dargestellt und können exportiert werden.
Diese Anleitung zu ReCKS v1.03 erläutert die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der Abfrage im Detail. Sie bietet insbesondere eine Einführung in die Syntax regulärer Ausdrücke
