COVID-19 Policy Response Monitor for German Federal States (CPRM-Ger): A Dataset on Non-pharmaceutical Interventions in Germany
No full textThe COVID-19 Policy Response Monitor for German Federal States builds on the idea and methodology of the Oxford Covid-19 Government Response Tracker (OxCGRT) and is adapted to the specific conditions of the German federal system (see Codebook).
The presented dataset contains a collection of 31 types of non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) that were implemented in the 16 German federal states between March 12 and August 31, 2020. Depending on the level of strictness of the applied measures, an overall Stringency index as well as eight Sub-indices regarding Events and gatherings, Movement, Childcare and education, Business, Food and catering, Leisure facilities, Health sector, and Public hygiene have been calculated for each federal state.

No full textReCKS („Reddit Corpus Keyword Search“) ist eine Webapplikation zur Stichwortsuche in Reddit-Kommentaren aus dem größten deutschsprachigen Subreddit (r/de, derzeit über zwei Millionen registrierte Nutzer:innen). Das zugrunde liegende Korpus von ReCKS umfasst ca. 1 Million Kommentare aus dem Zeitraum 2006–2023. Zwei Suchstrategien stehen zur Verfügung: eine einfache feste Suche sowie eine erweiterte Suche mit regulären Ausdrücken (RegEx). Die Treffer werden in Tabellen- und Diagrammform dargestellt und können exportiert werden.
Diese Anleitung zu ReCKS v1.03 erläutert die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten der Abfrage im Detail. Sie bietet insbesondere eine Einführung in die Syntax regulärer Ausdrücke
AI-Driven Storytelling: Adherence to Narrative Structures in Gaming Scenarios
No full textWhile intelligent virtual agents (IVAs) are often deployed in creative processes, which can be untargeted, specific games and health-related use cases require reliability and adherence to given information and scenarios. This paper explores IVA s possibilities and limitations in the context of story driven gaming, specifically their role as Dungeon Masters (DMs) in role-playing games (RPGs). RPGs have been shown to influence mental health positively, providing cognitive benefits through their conversational nature. We use an IVA to autonomously guide users through an immersive role-playing experience. Our study found that the IVA excelled in creating and managing fictional worlds, demonstrating strong adherence to these aspects of game leadership. However, it exhibited challenges in understanding and responding to player inputs, leading to varying adherence in other key competencies of a role-playing leader. Notably though, only a fraction of adherence breaches were perceived or found disruptive by participants. The IVA's use of both text and voice output was well-received, although improvements in voice intonation and speed could potentially enhance the overall user experience

No full textIn diesem Vortrag wird ein Überblick über die Resultate der empirischen Forschung des Forschungsverbundes MOTRA zur Verbreitung extremismusaffiner Einstellungen, Formen von Intoleranz,Hass und Hetze im Internet sow0ie dem Protestgeschehen in Deutschland und der Entwicklung der polizeilich registrierten, politisch motivierten Kriminalität geboten. Abgedeckt wird dabei der Zeitraum der ersten Förderphase des Exzellenclusters MOTRA, von 2020 bis 2024. Seit dem 1.2.2025 wird MOTRA in einer zweiten Förderphase fortgesetzt, finanziert aus Mitteln des BMBF, des BMI und des BMFSFJ. Ein Ausblick auf die nächsten Schritte der Forschung, die für diese zweite Förderphase vorgesehen ist, wird ebenfalls beschrieben

People in Germany 2022 - Experiment
No full textThis dataset contains a subset of variables and respondents from the representative population survey "People in Germany 2022". It includes a survey experiment designed to assess individuals’ ability to identify signs of radicalization into political and religious extremism, as well as their preferred responses to such cases. In the experiment, respondents were presented with a scenario describing an acquaintance exhibiting signs of radicalization. The following aspects were randomized: level of radicalization (low vs. high) and type of extremism (right-wing vs. Islamist). Following the scenarios, respondents were asked to assess the severity of the radicalization and indicate how they would react if confronted with such a situation. In addition to the treatment and outcome variables, this dataset contains several control variables, including demographics (age, gender, level of education, religious affiliation, migration background) and survey-related measures (survey mode, self-placement on the left-right ideological scale).

QLK Subkorpus Queere Tiere
No full textThe sub-corpus "Queere Tiere" is part of the project "QLK - Queerlinguistisches Korpus". This is a one-year pilot project funded by the Equal Opportunities Fund (Universität Hamburg). It serves to create a corpus with queer content as a research resource for students and researchers and is currently being continued by other projects.
The sub-corpus "Queere Tiere" contains texts that thematize "queer" animals in various ways, e.g., animals that exhibit same-sex sexual behaviour or do not fit into a binary sex/gender model. The texts are taken from freely available online sources. These are mainly journalistic and (popular) scientific texts as well as press releases.
