The Relationship Between Energy and Climate Action in the Context of Sustainable Development Goals: An Empirical Analysis of BRICS–T Economies
There is a lack of empirical studies investigating the individual and combined effects of environmental policy stringency, energy transition, and green technologies on greenhouse gas emissions in the context of BRICS–T countries. To address this gap in the literature, the article presents empirical evidence from panel quantile, Driscoll–Kraay, and Ridge regression models for examining energy and climate action within the framework of Sustainable Development Goals 7 and 13 in BRICS–T economies during the period 1995–2020. The main findings obtained from the analyses show that environmental policy stringency, as well as the combined effect of environmental policy stringency with green technology, reduce ecological deformation. On the other hand, energy transition, green technology, primary energy consumption, and the combined effect of energy transition and environmental policy stringency have been shown to increase emissions. Dumitrescu–Hurlin Granger causality findings indicate that all variables exhibit two–way causality relationships reflecting the feedback effect. The results highlight that countries should focus on implementing stricter environmental regulations, promoting green innovation, adopting comprehensive fiscal and environmental policies, accelerating the transition from conventional to clean energy, and strengthening policy measures to achieve long-term ecological goals.</p

The Effect of Two-Piece Abutment Concept and Abutment Reconnection/Disconnection on Marginal Bone Level Changes: A Split-Mouth Randomized, Parallel-Designed, 36-Month Follow-Up, Preliminary Clinical Study
Purpose: The objective of this study was to conduct a comparative evaluation of the clinical and radiographic findings of definitive two-piece abutments placed at secondary surgery following submerged healing and definitive abutments used in standard prosthetic treatments.Materials and methods: The study was designed as a prospective, split-mouth, randomised, parallel-design, blinded clinical trial. The study comprised two groups: a test group and a control group. The test group received a two-piece abutment, while the control group received a standardized healing abutment. The study analyzed a total of 10 patients and 20 implants. Clinical and radiographic measurements were obtained at baseline (T0), 6 months (T1), 12 months (T2) and 36 months follow-up (T3). Radiographic measurements were calculated on standardized periapical radiographs, with the aim of determining marginal bone level changes (ΔMBL) at different time points, emergence angles, and emergence profiles in mesially and distally.Results: A significant difference was found between the groups in mesial, distal, and mean ΔMBL at T0-T1 and distal and mean ΔMBL at T0-T3 values. (p<0.05) Emergence angle values were found to be below 30 degrees both mesially and distally in both groups. (p>0.05) A statistically significant correlation was found between healing/definitive abutment disconnection/reconnection and distal ΔMBL T0-T3. (p<0.05) Conclusion: Within the limitations of the study, although the sample size was limited, with the study design and minimizing confounding factors, it was concluded that two-piece definitive abutment application may have significant effects in terms of reducing ΔMBL changes in both the short and long term. However, further studies with a larger sample size are needed. Flail Chest as a Rare Manifestation of Single Rib Fracture: A Case Report
Introduction: Flail chest is defined by the fracture of 3 or more ribs at 2 or more sites, resulting in a segment of the chest wall that loses its mechanical integrity, creating a “floating” segment. It occurs in 5% to 13% of patients with chest wall injuries. A very rare form of flail chest, sternal flail, refers to the separation of the sternum from the hemithoraxes and is usually associated with multiple anterior cartilage or rib fractures. Contrary to common impression, it has more than 1 form and each varies in severity. Case Presentation: A 44-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department with blunt trauma. Imaging studies revealed a third rib fracture with flail chest on the right side, along with multiple rib fractures and a pneumothorax on the left. The lungs showed bilateral contusions. The patient also sustained compression fractures of the third and fifth thoracic vertebrae, a sternal fracture, and a nondisplaced distal radius fracture on the right. The clinical team inserted a chest tube into the left hemithorax to manage the pneumothorax. The patient remained stable and did not require mechanical ventilation. Oxygen therapy was administered via nasal cannula, accompanied by the administration of normal saline and analgesic treatment. Arterial blood gas analysis demonstrated mild lactic acidosis, whereas serial hemogram assessments revealed no clinically significant decline in hemoglobin levels. The patient was subsequently admitted to the department of thoracic surgery for conservative management and close observation, with no immediate indication for surgical intervention. Clinical course remained uneventful, and the patient was discharged on the seventh day in stable condition without complications. Conclusion: Flail chest may result from a single rib fracture in combination with a sternal fracture. Patients presenting with atypical manifestations of flail chest can be discharged without complications within a short period when early diagnosis, appropriate supportive care, and timely treatment are provided
Content quality and reliability of YouTube exercise videos for multiple sclerosis
Background: Exercise is a widely recommended non-pharmacological approach to improve physical function and quality of life in individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS). With the growing use of digital platforms, YouTube has become a popular resource for health-related information and exercise guidance. This study aimed to evaluate the content quality and reliability of YouTube videos offering exercise guidance for individuals with MS. Methods: This search was conducted using relevant keywords, and videos were screened based on inclusion criteria. Content quality was assessed using the mDISCERN scale, Global Quality Score (GQS), and Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) benchmarks. Video characteristics, including duration, number of views, and uploader type, were also recorded. A total of 95 videos met the criteria. Results: Among included videos, 18 % were rated low quality, 37 % moderate, and 45 % high quality. The most common upload sources were commercial accounts (n = 28), non-commercial organizations or community groups (n = 19), and physiotherapists (n = 16). Significant differences were found in mDISCERN and JAMA scores between low-, moderate-, and high-quality groups (p < 0.001 and p = 0.008, respectively). Strengthening exercises (n = 21), informational videos (n = 16), and other exercises (n = 15) were the most frequently presented. Conclusion: In conclusion, while YouTube serves as an accessible platform for MS-related exercise content, the variability in video quality and presence of non-expert uploads may mislead viewers with low e-health literacy. High-quality, evidence-based content provided by professionals is essential to support safe and effective exercise in individuals with MS
Morphometric and Morphological Variations of the Nasopalatine Canal and Their Relationship with Demographic Data Nazopalatin Kanalın Morfometrik ve Morfolojik Varyasyonları ve Demografik Verilerle İlişkisi
Background: The potential consequences of contact between the implant and the vascular and nervous systems in the nasopalatine canal (NPK), the most prominent anatomical structure in the premaxilla, may result in the failure of osseointegration and damage to the nerves in this region. The objective of this study was to evaluate the morphology and morphometric features of NPC using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images and to examine the relationship between these features and demographic variables. Methods: CBCT images of a total of 293 patients aged between 18 and 74 years with a mean age of 40.15 years were analyzed in axial, coronal and sagittal planes. The number of NPCs in the axial plane, anatomical variation of NPCs in the coronal plane, shape variation and morphometric measurements of NPCs in the sagittal plane were evaluated. Intraobserver correlation coefficient, descriptive and frequency tests, Pearson Chi-Square, Independent t test and One-Way ANOVA tests were used to analyze obtained data. Results: The most prevalent variations observed in the axial, coronal, and sagittal sections were the one Stenson foramen, single canal, and funnel-type NPC, respectively. These variations exhibited no statistically significant correlation with demographic data. However, a statistically significant relationship (p<0.05) was identified between the demographic data and the morphometric measurements of NPC. Conclusions: This study, which investigates a restricted Turkish demographic, highlights that NPC displays a notable spectrum of morphological and morphometric diversities. It is recommended that a three-dimensional assessment of the NPC be conducted in order to prevent complications prior to any surgical procedures in the anterior maxilla, such as alveolar bone augmentation and implant surgery
