    No full text
Kroz prezentaciju upoznajemo članove porodice Kalderon, njihov život pre Drugog svetskog rata i porodično stablo. Poseban segment opisuje teške ratne okolnosti, stradanje porodice ali i spašavanja dela porodice zahvaljujući njihovom skrivanju tokom rata, od strane dobrih ljudi Jelenka i Ljubice. Završni deo prezentacije prati posleratni život potomaka porodice Kalderon i opisuje kako je porodica Stamenković proglašena za nosioce priznanja "Pravednik među narodima".This video presentation is dedicated to two families: Kalderon, the family of those who were rescued, and Jelenko and Ljubica Stamenković, the family that saved Ester, Mirjam, and Josif Kalderon. Through the presentation, we learn about the members of the Kalderon family, their life before the Second World War, and their family tree. A special segment describes the difficult circumstances of the war, the family's suffering, and the rescue of some members thanks to their hiding during the war by the kind-hearted Jelenko and Ljubica. The final part of the presentation follows the post-war lives of the Kalderon descendants and explains how the Stamenković family was recognised as "Righteous among the nations"

Pro memoria contra pro patria: non-Serbs - victims of the NDH genocide 1941-1945 in eastern Bilogora

This text with supplements does not intend to explain the essence of the terrible events of 1941, nor to find a much-needed diagnosis and cure for an uncertain future, but only to show with the example of historical facts that evil is indiscriminate and that it affects everyone else besides its target groups, without an exception. The Serbs, the most suffering of these target groups in eastern Bilogora, must be discussed separately. The extent of the evil committed against them is so extensive that just listing the names of the victims and the basic facts about them exceeds the scope of a simple list, review or informative text, and requires an entire archive. After the attack of Hitler's Third Reich on the former Yugoslavia on April 6, 1941, the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) was soon proclaimed on April 10, 1941. Although short-lived in its four-year existence, the Ustasha reign of terror managed to commit monstrous crimes. The victims were members of all nations in the territory controlled by the NDH, and according to the reasons for suffering, they can be divided into three groups. The first of them consists of the already mentioned Orthodox Serbs. The second group of victims consisted of Roma and Jews, and according to the racial laws of the NDH, Gypsies and Jews were declared an inferior race and thus, like the Serbs, lost all civil rights, including the right to life. The third group of NDH victims in eastern Bilogora consisted of members of four other nations, Hungarians, Germans, Croats and Czechs, who had the opportunity to choose, to be loyal citizens of the Ustasha authorities and thereby avoid suffering or to oppose this evil with enough courage by word or deed, which was paid with his life and the lives of his neighbours.Jedno od poglavlje knjige posvećeno je Jevrejima Bilogore - žrtvama hrvatskih klerofašista i njemačkih nacista 1941. do 1945. Book review: What you are doing is important: learning about the Holocaust according to the recommendations of Yad Vashem [author Nada Banjanin Đuričić, Belgrade: Grupa 484, 2019]

    Get PDF
The publication "What you are doing is important: learning about the Holocaust according to the recommendations of Yad Vashem" by Nada Banjanin Đuričić is a manual intended for teachers and practitioners in the field of education in Serbia who want to deal with the topic of the Holocaust with students of the older grades of primary and secondary school. Although the author in the title states that the publication is based on the recommendations of Yad Vashem, it goes far beyond the basic educational guidelines of this memorial institution and represents an original methodical contribution to thinking about and carrying out education about the Holocaust in our local context.Knjiga "To što radiš važno je: učiti o Holokaustu po preporukama Jad Vašema" može se preuzeti preko linka (The book "What you are doing is important: learning about the Holocaust according to the recommendations of Yad Vashem" can be downloaded via the link [https://www.jevrejskadigitalnabiblioteka.rs/handle/123456789/1481

U okviru konferencije "Glas žene u ledenoj tišini" premijerno je predstavljena izložba "Tračci svetla - Biti žena u Holokaustu" sa pedagoškim vodičem za nastavnike kao i srpski prevod i adaptacija Preporuka za učenje i podučavanje o Holokaustu Međunarodne alijanse za sećanje na Holokaust (IHRA).The international online conference "Voice of Woman in Frozen Silence" was organized as a contribution to the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Novi Sad Raid and the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Eva Haiman's diary was first published in 1947, but after that, the manuscript mysteriously disappeared ... We know that Eva was an extremely bright and mature thirteen-year-old girl. Holocaust survivors who knew her confirmed that the diary reflected her character. Also, based on historical sources, we know for sure that the events that Eva writes about really happened. To this day, the work attracts a lot of attention, and in 2019 it was used as a basis for the Instagram project Eva (@ eva.stories) which launched a public discussion on the use of new media in Holocaust education. Eva Heyman's diary has not been translated into Serbian before, and we believe that it will contribute to shaping the awareness of the Holocaust, because it is an original testimony and a picturesque intimate record, written without intending to ever see the light of day, on the darkest chapter of European history.Objavljivanje ove knjige je realizovano zahvaljujući finansijskoj podršci Saveza jevrejskih opština Srbije iz sredstava dobijenih na osnovu Zakona o otklanjanju posledica oduzimanja imovine žrtvama Holokausta bez živih zakonskih naslednika (publishing of this book was realized thanks to the financial support of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Serbia from the funds obtained on the basis of the Law on the elimination of consequences of confiscation of property to Holocaust victims without living legal heirs).Promocija knjige "Crveni bicikl: Dnevnik Eve Hejman" održana je 20. decembra 2021. godine sa početkom u 18 časova preko ZOOM platforme (the promotion of the book "Red Bicycle: Eve Heyman's Diary" was held on December 20, 2021, starting at 6 pm via the ZOOM platform).U okviru promocije Olga Ungar održala je kratku prezentaciju o Oradeu - rodnom gradu Eve Hajman, jevrejskoj zajednici tog rumunskog grada i samoj knjizi (as part of the promotion, Olga Ungar gave a short presentation about Oradea - the hometown of Eva Haiman, the Jewish community of that Romanian city and the book itself)

Akcija sađenja jugoslovenskog dela Šume mučenika 1952-1955: simbolika, rituali i značenje

This article will try to examine the phenomenon of memorial forests and their role in the creation of the Holocaust memory of the Jewish community in Yugoslavia. Our intention is to present the Yugoslav Jewish tradition of planting memorial forests and analyze its symbolical background. The Martyrs’ Forest in Israel will be used as an example of a newly-founded place of remembrance and considering that the main aim of the article is to show, in comparison with other examples, what kind of symbolical rituals were used to provide a historical context and legitimacy for new memorials.Članak predstavlja pokušaj da se naučno ispita fenomen memorijalnih šuma i njihova uloga u konstruisanju sećanja na Holokaust među jugoslovenskim Jevrejima. This paper was written as a result of the work at the Institute for Recent History of Serbia, funded by the Serbian Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, through the Agreement on Realization and Funding of Scientific Research NIO in 2021 no. 451-03-9/2021-14/200016 of February 5, 2021

    Molitvenik za Jom kipur

    Get PDF
This prayer book for Yom Kippur presents translations of prayer texts that contain parts of biblical and Talmudic treatises, psalms and piyutim (Jewish religious prose) from Hebrew into Serbian. Yom Kippur (day of reconciliation) is also a day of repentance, forgiveness, a day without evil thoughts and a day of complete devotion to God. This holiday is marked by strict fasting, without taking food and water for 24 hours. Most of the Jewish holidays received a new character and a new interpretation after the destruction of the Jerusalem temple. The holiday of Yom Kippur has not only received a new interpretation but has completely changed: from a distinctly pagan rite of purification from sins, it has become a holiday of the most intimate individual moral re-examinations.Uporedo hebrejski tekst i srpski prevod (parallel Hebrew text and Serbian translation)

Phoenix is female: the (im)possibility of healing trauma voiced in sotto voce

    Get PDF
Contemporary Holocaust film narratives have stepped away from stereotypical representations of women. Women are given a voice to narrate their traumatic experience from a feminine perspective, leaving the attribute of “the icons of victimization” behind. The representation of Holocaust trauma and the narrative strategies in films “Ida” by Pawel Pawlikowski (2013), “Phoenix” by Christian Petzold (2014), and the Netflix mini-series “Unorthodox” by Maria Shrader (2020), belong to the sphere of post-trauma cinema. Not only does the narrative structure become non-linear using flashbacks and testimonies, but the codes of cinematic language designate silence as rupture, breakage, and loss. Be it part of post-memory and transgenerational memory (Esti in “Unorthodox”), or the margins of trauma (Ida and her aunt Vanda in “Ida”), or the core of the very trauma of the Holocaust survivor (Neli in “Phoenix”) - female characters voice their trauma in the hope of healing. However, not all of them survive facing their trauma and communicating the traumatic experience. Some of them choose suicide (Vanda) or monastery solitude (Ida). Two of them (Esti and Neli), however, find closure in singing that breaks the silence.Izdavanje ovog zbornika podržalo je Ministarstvo prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije

    Jewish question in Nietzsche's philosophy

    Get PDF
The paper discusses Nietzsche's attitude toward the Jewish question. The first part discusses Nietzsche's question: What does Europe owe to the Jews? Nietzsche's opinion that the longevity of the Jewish race corresponds to the degree of development of these people is discussed. According to Nietzsche, the Jews brought about an important upheaval and change in values that determined the further historical course of the Western Christian world. Nietzsche defines this movement as a slave uprising in morality, where he sees the role of resentment as decisive. The concluding part of the paper presents the problem of Nietzsche's typological analysis of the Jewish people. It is concluded that his exposition of the Jewish question does not have an anti-Semitic character but represents a critical and genealogical re-examination of the role of Jews in the historical course.Izdavanje ovog zbornika podržalo je Ministarstvo prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije
