A contribution to the history of the Jews in Inđija and the surrounding settlements
"Inđija je danas sedište istoimene opštine koju čine mesta Inđija, Beška, Jarkovci, Krčedin, Ljukovo, Maradik, Novi Karlovci, Novi Slankamen, Slankamenački Vinogradi, Stari Slankamen i Čortanovci.

In the past, this territory was administratively divided between two rabbinates (Jewish communities): Indjija and Maradik belonged to the Ruma Rabbinate, while the remaining places belonged to the Zemun Rabbinate.
The first mention of Jews in this area dates back to 1704, when the Jew Jakob Lebl, a citizen of Petrovaradin, paid the thirtieth and land tax for his goods in Stari Slankamen in July of that year. After that, Jews can be traced sporadically through various documents, and only with the introduction of registers in the middle of the 19th century would they have more precise information about them. The oldest known information about Jews living in this area comes from 1798 from the fund of the Zemun Magistrate (Historical Archive of Belgrade). At that time, it was recorded that Josip Kreudel, a Jew living in Beška, was planning to move to Novi Sad, which is why the settlement of his debts to the merchant Terezia Herzlin was demanded..."Edicija "Stara Beška
The song "Yugoslavia-Israel!": Yugoslavia and the Middle East (1948-1952)
The foreign policy of Yugoslavia after the Second World War represents a kind of paradigm for the development of bilateral relations with the Soviet Union. Three phases are distinguished. From the end of the war until 1948, the Communist Party of Yugoslavia was fully committed to building a socialist society modelled after the Soviet one and formulated foreign policy following the course charted by the Soviet Union. The period from 1949 to 1953 was marked by the Yugoslav-Soviet conflict. The idea of an authentic revolution and the resulting right to appear independently on the international stage was deepened through the gradual opening of Yugoslavia to the world. After 1953, Yugoslav foreign policy left the European framework and turned to intensive cooperation with the countries of Asia and Africa. The foothold for the repositioning of Yugoslavia in the bipolar world was found in the process of decolonization
Emigration of Jews from Yugoslavia to Israel: (1948-1952)
A little over 60% of approximately 12.500 Jews who survived the Second World War in Yugoslavia left for Israel between 1948 and 1952, within one of five waves of organized emigration. With certain aberrations in age, consequent to Israeli immigration policy, emigration from Yugoslavia was a representative sample of the local Jewish community. Considering the complex motives driving the organized emigration from Yugoslavia to Israel forward to be identical to the overall Zionist context within which the migration process took place would be unjustified. Yugoslav authorities, in a specific state of crisis after the 1948 conflict with the Soviet Union, were attempting to use emigration in promoting ideas of Yugoslav independence and sovereignty in a world beginning to adopt the model of bipolarity. Furthermore, organized emigration to Israel was an ideal opportunity for the ideological homogenization of the Jewish community of Yugoslavia. Yugoslav authorities simply assumed that those unwilling or unable to adapt to the new, post-war political and societal values would seize the opportunity given to them and leave the country for Israel. In the years following the end of the war, the Federation of Jewish religious communities were torn between, on the one hand, the need to adapt to the newly established state ideology, thus securing seamless integration of the Jewish population, and, on the other hand, Zionist ideals, directly manifested by organized emigration to Israel. This contradiction meant, among other things, that the Federation executives were forced to define organized emigration as somehow equidistant to the two divergent ideological positions they were leaning toward. Individuals leaving Yugoslavia were motivated by factors so diverse that any attempt at systematization would be unjustified. What partially provides the context for every individual’s decision to emigrate are factors influencing Yugoslav society as a whole. Each émigré decision to leave the country must, however, be considered an effort to solve a specific problem. Edicija Sine ira et studio = Bez gneva i pristrasnosti ; knj. 5Osnovu ove monografije čini tekst disertacije sa temom "Iseljavanje Jevreja iz Jugoslavije u Izrael (1948-1952)", odbranjene na Filozofskom fakultetu Univerziteta u Beogradu, u septembru 2015. godine (the basis of this monograph is the text of the dissertation with the topic "Emigration of Jews from Yugoslavia to Israel (1948-1952)", Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, September 2015)
Danilo Kiš and investigative discourse: the Holocaust and Jewish identity in “Psalm 44”
The subject of the paper is the presentation of aspects of investigative discourse in the work of Danilo Kiš. We approach this topic by analyzing one of Kiš's early novels, "Psalm 44" (1962). Investigating how the author approaches the issue of Jewish identity and the Holocaust, we looked at both material and immaterial signs within the work. In this regard, in the search for signs, the main source will be the memories of the heroine of Kish's novel. Maria's reconstruction of lived experience gives us insight into Kish's concern for the disappearing human past. Therefore, her testimony about the Holocaust will represent an intangible trace of collective identity and lived experience. Within this, the importance of blood as a sign of a collective whose existence is threatened, physical and psychological methods of punishment as well as branding as a way of differentiation is highlighted. On the other hand, her child born in the camp is interpreted as material proof of the credibility of everything that not only his parents but also the entire nation experienced. In addition, the camp, which years later became a museum, represents the culmination of Kish's desire to preserve a traumatic experience from oblivion.Istraživanje sprovedeno u radu finansiralo je Ministarstvo prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije (Ugovor o realizaciji i finansiranju naučnoistraživačkog rada NIO u 2022. godini broj 451 -03-68/2022 14/ 200198)
Bloody feedback - "Gec i Majer" in the mirror of death
Kristalisanje profila, karakternih i fizičkih osobina predstavnika nemačkog “Nadčoveka” biće suprotstavljeno svesti žrtve, njenoj depersonalizaciji, dehumanizaciji i fizičkom istrebljenju - i sve to u jednom prostoru - u Jevrejskom logoru Zemun. The goal of the work is to point out the possibilities of viewing the Holocaust as a time of suffering and the way in which the Nazi ideology and treatment of Jews changed the psychological profile of victims and criminals through the work of David Albahari. The crystallization of the profile, character and physical features of the representatives of the German "Superman" will be opposed to the consciousness of the victim, her depersonalization, dehumanization and physical extermination - and all this in one space - in the Zemun Jewish camp. The paper also deals with the phenomenon of evil in a certain space and time - in the moments of the greatest suffering of the Jewish people on the soil of Europe. The transformation caused by an evil of epochal proportions creates in the work of David Albahari two diametrically opposed worlds, which merge and interpenetrate and in their diversity begin to resemble each other as the face of death and its opposite are imprinted in the consciousness of the second generation of surviving children in the form of scars, inherited trauma that will also be taken into consideration
Anti-Semitism in modern conspiracy theories
Contrary to expectations that anti-Semitic ideas will remain in the graveyard of history after the fall of the Third Reich, they survive to this day, in an almost unchanged form. Anti-Semitism has become an indispensable part of the contemporary political discourse of the far-right and serves as a means of discrediting political opponents and marginalizing certain social groups. The central motive of the lecture is the analysis of anti-Semitic motives, which appear in contemporary conspiracy theories, which are spread by Alt-right organizations in Europe and America. This analysis covers the time frame from the beginning of the migrant crisis in 2015, through the presidential campaigns of Donald Trump in 2016 and 2020, to the outbreak of the global pandemic of the COVID-19 virus. The main focus will be on analyzing discourse and identifying the political motives and intentions behind conspiracy theories related to the migrant crisis, the "Great Exchange" theory, the "Soros Plan" theory, and the political eschatology of the QAnon movement.Predavanje održano 24. januara 2022. godine preko Zoom platforme sa početkom u 19 časova, povodom obeležavanja Međunarodnog dana sećanja na žrtve Holokausta (the lecture was held on January 24, 2022 via the Zoom platform starting at 7 p.m. regarding the International Holocaust Remembrance Day).Trajanje 1:40:00 minuta (duration 1:40:00 minutes).YouTube link [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=glOLMPjiGSM
Seminar about the book: by Jelena Subotić - Yellow Star, Red Star: Remembering the Holocaust after Communism
One imaju različite istorije Holokausta, ali su sve izvele upečatljive projekte zamenjivanja zločina Holokausta zločinima komunizma."Yellow Star, Red Star: Remembrance of the Holocaust after Communism" has won four awards so far: the award for the best book in international history and politics of the American Political Science Association, the "Joseph Rothschild" award for the best book in the study of nationalism and ethnicity. the award for the best book in the field of European politics and society of the American Association for Political Science, and was marked as one of the best books in 2020 by the Association of Authors for Slavic Studies, Eastern European and Eurasian Studies. The book explores how the former socialist states used Holocaust remembrance for strategic purposes to resolve their own contemporary ontological uncertainties - uncertainties about identity, their status, and the relationships they nurture with other international actors. Subotić analyzes contemporary Holocaust remembrance practices in three countries: Serbia, Croatia and Lithuania. They have different histories of the Holocaust, but they have all carried out impressive projects to replace the crimes of the Holocaust with the crimes of communism.Događaj u organizaciji ShoahLab: Laboratorija za izučavanje Holokausta IFDT (ShoahLab event: IFDT Holocaust Research Laboratory).Predavanje održano 25. februara 2022. godine preko Zoom platforme od 16 do 18 časova, (the lecture was held on February 25, 2022, via the Zoom platform from 4 to 6 p.m.).Trajanje 2:01:37 minuta (duration 2:01:37 minutes).YouTube link [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o10vXLn08Qk]

Distorzija istorije u toku pandemije Kovid-19: primer Starog Sajmišta i Jasenovca
The research will focus on the misuse of historical facts related to the Staro Sajmište camp in Serbia and the Jasenovac camp in Croatia from the 1980s until 2022. Analysis of legislature, proposed and passed, related to Staro Sajmište and its memorialization will be additionally researched, as well as different historical narratives about responsibility for crimes connected to Staro Sajmište. Also, memory politics and Holocaust remembrance in the cases of Serbia and Croatia and its evolution since the end of Socialist Yugoslavia will be analysed. The central part of the research will be focused on the rise of distorted narratives regarding selected camps that will be analysed through the activities of selected historians, researchers, politicians, and public figures. Their public statements, lectures, expertise, and misuse of facts will be researched.
žrtava podstiču ekstremiste i njihove revizionističke stavove
Discourse on the Nazi past in the novel “Old masters” by Thomas Bernhard
This paper attempts to illustrate the ways in which various influences of the National Socialist past and ideology manifest themselves again both within a culturally and historically defined sphere and after a certain period of time in relation to the daily social life of the same community. The backbone of this research is the notion of discourse as a body of oral and written texts around a particular theme which emerged after the end of the Second World War. In terms of methodology, this paper also draws on memory studies as well as on what is known as “working through the past”. The novel “Old Masters” by the Austrian writer Thomas Bernhard, published in 1985, was used as the corpus. This research belongs to the field of literary studies with an emphasis on German-language literature along with cultural studies and sociology
