Characters from "Rani jadi" (except Eduard Sam, mother and sister)
The purpose of the paper is to present all characters (except Eduard Sam, mother and sister) from Danilo Kis' "Rani jadi", the first novel in his family trilogy/circus. In the novel, the primary focus is on Andreas Sam and his memories which tell us more about his childhood, the war period and his father. Along with the character of Andreas Sam, the main aspect of our analysis is his best friend, Dingo the dog. Since most of the studied characters are of Jewish origin, we sought to point out the social and private spheres of each character's life individually, as well as include information on the presence of anti-Semitism in cases where it was stated or hinted at.Pod pokrovitelјstvom "Claims Conference ( Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany)", Centar za studije sećanja Univerziteta u Kragujevcu - čiji je osnivač i rukovodilac prof. dr Katarina Melić - akademske 2021/2022. godine je dalekosežno pokrenuo Studije Holokausta. O likovima-žrtvama Holokausta dati su uvidi u formi taksativno navedenih biografskih informacija, dok je posebna pažnja posvećena antisemitizmu i to u odelјku svakog teksta, naslovlјenom: „Znakovi i posledice antisemitizma/Holokausta”.Sponsored by "Claims Conference (Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany"), the Centre for the Study of Memory of the University of Kragujevac - whose founder and the head is prof. Katarina Melić, PhD, full professor - has, during the academic year of 2021/2022, issued forth the Holocaust Studies. One of the realized courses, "Investigative Discourse in Literature" (prof. Dragan Bošković, PhD, full professor) was held in the winter semester of the academic year of 2021/2022 and was focused on the creative work of Danilo Kiš through a problem-solving approach. Apart from re-examining the character and meaning of investigative discourse - the elementary mechanism of epistemology, narration and poetics - analytical perception of literary representations of the Holocaust and antisemitism in Kiš’s work represented the primary intention of the course, and one of the results of course activities was the presentation of Kiš’s characters-victims of the Holocaust. Thus, the attendees of the course sought to single out the heroes (characters-victims) from the "Family Circus", "A Tomb for Boris Davidovich", Kiš’s plays and the television show "Naked Life". Examining (or: shaping) their identities, the students paid special attention to the antisemitic mark on them, as well as their tragic sufferings. Having noticed the symbolic significance of the completed presentations, while concurrently depicting the victims of the Holocaust in Kiš’s oeuvre, there emerged an idea to transform power-point presentations into the form of manuscripts, and not just any, but manuscripts similar to “identity cards”.
In order to appreciate the consequences of the Holocaust, as well as to present the identities of the victims and hear their voices, the following manuscripts represent a homage to the dead - to those who may be dead only after they have spoken through literature, through discourse. By speaking through literature and through these manuscripts, the dead assert themselves as victims, and thus as “immortals”. Therefore, this thematic issue - "The Memorial Museum of the Holocaust Victims in the Oeuvre of Danilo Kiš" - constitutes a contribution to the narrative embodiment of Kiš’s victims who, as Paul Ricoeur would say, “cry out for retribution and invoke a story”. This small-scale thematic issue is, hence, their and our “retribution”, their and our “story”. This is one of six manuscripts whose authors are PhD students at the Faculty of Philology and Arts, University of Kragujevac, and these are the first manuscripts of this type in the entire history of Kišology. Insights into the characters-victims of the Holocaust are provided in the form of exhaustive specifications of biographical information, paying special attention to antisemitism in a particular section of each manuscript, entitled: „Signs and Consequences of Antisemitism/Holocaust”
Characters from the dramas of Danilo Kiš
The main aim of the paper was the representation of characters found in the dramatic works of Danilo Kiš. The dramas used include "Night and Mist" (Noć i Magla), first published in 1968, "Parrot" (Papagaj) in 1970, as well as "The Wooden Coffin of Thomas Wolfe" (Drveni sanduk Tomasa Vulfa), written for television in 1974, and finally "Mechanical Lions" (Mehanički lavovi), from 1980. The paper comes as a result of analyzing the main characters of the aforementioned dramas solely through the image of their Jewish identity, the Holocaust and the aftermath the same had on the overall being of the characters, thus forming a biography in their honour. It is clear that most of Kiš's Jewish dramatic characters suffer from psychological trauma after the Holocaust and most are yearning to preserve their memories through remembrance. The paper is also the result of research conducted in the course which was part of a Center for the Studies of Remembrance.Pod pokrovitelјstvom "Claims Conference ( Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany)", Centar za studije sećanja Univerziteta u Kragujevcu - čiji je osnivač i rukovodilac prof. dr Katarina Melić - akademske 2021/2022. godine je dalekosežno pokrenuo Studije Holokausta. Characters from "A tomb for Boris Davidovich"
The goal of this short display is to represent the example of two character biographies from а novel "A tomb for Boris Davidovich" by author Danilo Kiš: Hana Kšiževska and Baruh David Nojman and how history has a tendency to repeat itself and show how Anti-Semitism operates with its cruel mechanism and logic, immune to justice, innocence, gender, time and place. The writer Danilo Kiš gave a glimpse into the lives of two individuals, their unique minds, beliefs, potentials, struggles and fights against the big monster called anti-Semitism. The abovementioned Hana and Baruh are two strong-minded and fearless individuals who were used as sacrificial lambs for hatred without proper cause and a touching reminder of all the horrors that anti-Semitism caused for centuries.Pod pokrovitelјstvom "Claims Conference ( Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany)", Centar za studije sećanja Univerziteta u Kragujevcu - čiji je osnivač i rukovodilac prof. dr Katarina Melić - akademske 2021/2022. godine je dalekosežno pokrenuo Studije Holokausta. The Jewish tradition of Tula: local texts and practices
Jewish religious life in Tula has quite a long history, dating back to the 1830s when Jewish conscripts arrived in the area to serve in the arms factory. This dissertation is dedicated to a comprehensive study of that particular Jewish community in Tula. In my work, based on the texts of the local community and documentary sources, I reconstruct the so-called "historical portrait" of the community, identifying features of cultural texts, every day and from religious practice. During the research, interviews were collected that allowed me to systematize data on the origins of Jewish families, the reasons for their relocation to Tula, the history of the community, the uniqueness of Jewish families, their lives, hidden Judaism and the relations of Jews with non-Jews. There are also stories of the return to Jewish culture of people who were cut off from it. The obtained data allowed us to look at the discussion within Judaic studies differently about whether the culture of Soviet and post-Soviet Jews is "subtle", and devoid of most cultural features, and to give our answer to this question.Završni kvalifikacioni rad, Ruski državni humanistički univerzitet, smer "Filologija" "Folkloristika i mitologija" (final qualifying thesis, Russian State Humanitarian University, Departement "Philology" "Folklore and Mythology")

Biografistyka naukowa to niedoceniany gatunek wśród rozpraw akademickich, choć jest jednym z najtrudniejszych. Wymaga bowiem kunsztownej, interdyscyplinarnej metodologii łączącej osobiste, niekiedy intymne, przekazy źródłowe i informacje z historią działalności danej osoby wpisaną w szerszy kontekst dziejowy, społeczny i kulturowy, często także zróżnicowany geograficznie.
March 11, 1943: bulletin of the Jewish community in the Republic of Macedonia, No. 31, 2022 (5782)
Narrative Re/Definition of Jewish-Bosnian Intracultural Identity
To je posebno izraženo u pričama „Od proljeća do proljeća“ te „Plava Jevrejka“.The Jewish cultural tradition, which within the framework of the Bosnian habitus went through stages - from assimilation, concretization, activation, and even fusion - represents a paradigm of intracultural processes in the complex Bosnian society. These processes take place through various interactions, which have not been bypassed by local literature, and are representative of one part of the literary oeuvre of Isak Samokovlija. Based on the theoretical starting points of intercultural interpretation and psychoanalysis, the work questions Samokovlija's short stories in which the characters act through the suppressed own versus the foreign. This is especially expressed in the stories “Od proljeća do proljeća” (From Spring to Spring) and “Plava Jevrejka” (The Blue Jewess).Link: [http://dhs.ff.untz.ba/index.php/home/issue/view/25]
Moral witness: contemporary poetics of memoirs
Oba tipa memoarske proze imaju genezu, dugu tradiciju i permanentnu aktuelnost…The monograph "Moral witness: contemporary poetics of memoirs" is primarily motivated by the practice of writing and "reading" of this genre, which, from the mid-twentieth century to the present day, has shown at least two key changes in the immanent poetics of memoir prose that are not covered by dictionary definitions: the first concerns changes in the content itself, because the memoirs of former prisoners of Nazi camps produced prose that, both in terms of cognitive parameters and in the domain of all three types of intentions - the author's, the reader's, the text itself - overcame the existing "frames"; another change can be observed from the appearance of the prose of Christiana F. (Felsherinov), who outlines a new type of memoirist - a former addict and shifts the focus of the narration to an even greater extent from the event to the "experience". Both types of memoir prose have a genesis, a long tradition, and permanent relevance..
The characters from the documentary film "Bare existence"
Snimlјena je u martu 1989. godine u Izraelu. Prvi i jedini put, sedam meseci pre smrti, Danilo Kiš se pojavlјuje pred kamerama u ulozi televizijskog pripovedača koji predstavlјa sudbine dve Jevrejke, Ženi Lebl i Eve Nahir Panić. The topic of this work will primarily be the characters from the documentary film "Bare existence" directed by Aleksandar Mandić. The scenario for the film was written by Danilo Kiš himself. It was filmed in March 1989. in Israel. For the first and only time, Danilo Kiš appears in front of the camera in the role of a television narrator who represents the destinies of two Jews, Jovanka Ženi Lebl and Eva Nahir Panić, seven months before his death. Through their lives, the history of our region from the 1930s to the 1960s, poverty, communism, war, the State Security Service (UDBA), emigration, etc. are narrated in an exciting way. The series "Bare existence" premiered in February 1990., six months after Kiš's death, as the last television program that all citizens of the former Yugoslavia could watch together. The series consists of four episodes.Pod pokrovitelјstvom "Claims Conference ( Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany)", Centar za studije sećanja Univerziteta u Kragujevcu - čiji je osnivač i rukovodilac prof. dr Katarina Melić - akademske 2021/2022. godine je dalekosežno pokrenuo Studije Holokausta.
Eva Fischer in our surroundings: memories
In Croatia, Eva Fischer's name has appeared to the public as big news these months. Namely, the deputy mayor of Daruvar, about a year and a half ago, got the information that Eva Fischer was born in Daruvar and decides to commemorate it in their town. Recently, a biographical exhibition about Eva Fischer was organized in the city museum, which mainly consists of photographs from her private life, photocopies of personal documents and memorabilia. Although they say that Daruvar, due to a combination of circumstances, just now discover these facts, the first exhibition of Eva Fischer's paintings is also planned, for the first time in Croatia. However, if we know that she grew up right here, in Banat, in the city of Vršac, completed elementary school and high school and that she lived in Belgrade for several years (1938-1941), then she certainly deserves to be mentioned as our citizen. Even more when we know who Eva's father was! Dr Leopold Fischer, for many years, served as chief rabbi, leading the religious life of the Jewish community in Vršac. He was remembered as an excellent scholar and theologist. He edited the "Jewish Almanac", the official magazine of the Federation of Rabbis of the Kingdom of SHS (Yugoslavia), which was published in Vršac during his service
