Perceptions of Jews in the Bosnian Franciscan literary tradition: from anti-judaism to anti-semitism?
The literary opus of the Bosnian Franciscans is interesting in many ways from the imagological point of view: both concerning self-perceptions and hetero-perceptions, which were constructed based on the importance of religion as an element of community identity. Analyzing the imagotype potential of religious and ethnic divisions, the paper reconstructs the controversies between Christianity and Judaism, as well as linguistic elements, folk customs, and contemporary reality. At the source of the Bosnian Franciscan literature, at the beginning of the 17th century, we find Divković, who, as is often the case in pre-modern culture, relates the religious Other to the ethnic Other. This tradition is continued by the 19th century’s Franciscan chroniclers (Lastrić, Benić, and Bogdanović), while Martić, Jukić, and Knežević, who stepped into the era of the rebirth of Croatian Illyrianism, we can trace various normative implications of the relationship between political, ethnic, racial and religious identity. Since the Bosnian Franciscans of that time, we remember the ecclesiastical and intellectual elite among the Catholic population in Bosnia, the imagotypical statements about Jews in their works reflect both the Christian heritage through history and the Eurocentric view of the Others. Therefore, reconstructing the Bosnian Franciscans’ perceptions and ideas about the Other and the Different is, at the same time, reconstructing the genesis of the narrative about the Other, i.e., social and religious stereotypes and prejudices, as well as the continuity of talking about oneself by talking about the Different.Link: [http://dhs.ff.untz.ba/index.php/home/issue/view/25
To be silent or to speak: pedagogical aspects of the Holocaust-discourse
The paper To be silent or to speak: pedagogical aspects of the holocaust-discourse focuses on the attempt to perceive the Holocaust as a cultural-sociological-pedagogical phenomenon through an innovative perception of the Holocaust not only as a historical event but also as a discourse that hides and reveals contradictions and truths. The paper will give indications of the Holocaust as a crime, narrative, event, and discourse, with an emphasis on the scope of power, and historical, ideological, political, and educational factors that can be connected with the topic of the Holocaust. Apart from the focus on education about the Holocaust, it is important to point out that talking about the Holocaust is necessary and possible not only in school classes but also through other media, that is, through different types of art - especially through literature itself. Viewed as a whole, the Holocaust-discourse points to the impossibility of totalizing narrative structures, it leads to a dispersion that, as its foundation, raises again the question of the (Jewish) subject and history as such for the sake of exposing violence on the whole of humanism. His pedagogical rehabilitation is hidden in the necessary speech about unrepeatable crime.Istraživanje sprovedeno u radu finansiralo je Ministarstvo prosvete, nauke i tehnološkog razvoja Republike Srbije (Ugovor o realizaciji i finansiranju naučnoistraživačkog rada NIO u 2022. godini broj 451 -03-68/2022 14/ 200198)
Discursive representations of the Holocaust: the work of Anselm Kiefer
The paper deals with the question of the role and responsibility of the artist in the (visual) representation of the Holocaust, taking as a relevant example the work of the German painter Anselm Kieffer, who is considered one of the most important artists dealing with this subject and belongs to the wider milieu of post-war German intellectuals who struggled to overcome the shameful the past of your country. Relying on the theoretical framework of collective memory (Halbwachs 1985) and considering the social role of art and dealing with various phenomena and social issues through it, further in the work artistic creation is viewed as a place of memory (Nora 1996, 2007), because works of art are: 1) the "objectification" of the past, 2) they are also seen as representations of a certain society or period, and 3) the symbolic meaning is woven by the artist who through his work permanently communicates with recipients beyond time and geographical boundaries

Anti-semitism and European protection mechanisms
Evropske konvencije o zaštiti lјudskih prava i osnovnih sloboda u vezi negiranjem zločina počinjenih prema Jevrejima. The author deals with the presentation of cases of hate crimes committed against members of the Jewish people. In this way, he wants to point out their difficult position through different historical epochs. After that, international documents at the European level are analyzed, which have the goal of (in)direct protection of the Jewish people. The last part of the paper is dedicated to the presentation of the most significant cases before the European Court of Human Rights in which the court dealt with Article 10 of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms regarding the denial of crimes against Jews
Srem 1942
The gates of Srem opened wide before the advancing German troops. In the campaign against Belgrade, the German army hired the population of Srem of German origin, mainly members of the Kulturbund, to disarm members of the Army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, while the rest of the German population welcomed “liberation” by organizing public events in which they greeted the German army with their hands raised high, in solemn in German folk costumes, waving flags with swastikas. At the same time, members of the Ustasha movement, with the support of supporters of the Croatian Peasant Party and Vlatko Maček, took over the territories through which German troops passed in their march to Belgrade. With the establishment of the Great County of Vuka, based in Vukovar, on the 26th of June 1941, the authorities of the Independent State of Croatia formally established authority on the territory of occupied Srem. Out of a total of ten Srem counties, four county chiefs went to the Germans, out of seven mayors - three were Germans, and out of one hundred and fifty-six municipal chiefs - seventy-five were from the ranks of the German people. The German people in Srem thus participated almost equally and shared power with the Croats in the administration of the Independent State of Croatia, and therefore took responsibility for numerous crimes committed against the Serbian, Jewish, Roma and other peoples in Srem. The summer of 1942 is rightfully considered bloody in Srem. The Ustasha’s government, through the action of the Mobile High Court, directed primarily towards Serbs and, with secondary actions, towards the Roma and the Jews, embarked on the most serious and bloody cleansing of this territory from “reluctant” individuals and families.Sadržaj: Bojan Arbutina „Akcija Viktora Tomića u Sremu u leto 1942.“; Radovan Sremac „Sudbine iz 1942. godine“
