Extending Battery Usage Time of a Heavy‐Duty Mecanum‐Wheeled Autonomous Electric Vehicle Used in Iron–Steel Industry by Considering Wheel Slippage
Mecanum‐wheeled autonomous electric vehicles are preferred to use in industrial applications to carry loads. To be able to reach a maximum travel distance in one turn of work with a full battery charge, the vehicle should follow the reference route with minimum tracking errors. One of the reasons which prevents a good path tracking is the slippage because slippage causes tracking errors in both longitudinal and lateral directions. Herein, a modeling structure for a mecanum‐wheeled autonomous electric vehicle used for the heavy duties in iron–steel industry is proposed by taking the slippage information into account. The objective is to reach more travel distance and reduce the energy loss of the battery which causes to carry load less than planned. The modeling structure proposed is adapted and tested for an autonomous path tracking task in a galvanization line of an iron–steel industry. Five tons of zinc ingots are carried from the storage area to the melting pot using an autonomous electric vehicle in a predefined reference route. More than 5 km autonomous drive is performed and the experiments show that slippage causes an energy loss of 6.1786%, which means battery allows 6.1786% less distance than planned travel.</jats:p

Determining the effects of nomophobia on nurses and midwives in a maternity and child health hospital: A cross‐sectional study
AbstractAimThis study aims to assess the levels of nomophobia among nurses and midwives employed at a gynecology and children's hospital and to explore its impact on their lives.MethodsThis descriptive cross‐sectional study was conducted in a gynecology and pediatrics hospital situated in the western region of Turkey. The research sample comprised 112 nurses and midwives. Data collection was facilitated through an “Introductory Information Form” and the “Nomophobia Scale,” with adherence to the STROBE checklist for reporting this cross‐sectional study.ResultsThe mean age of the participants was 34.50 ± 9.98 years. The average total score on the nomophobia scale was 68.45 ± 24.62, with 54.5% of participants classified as having moderate levels of nomophobia. Factors such as age, years of experience in nursing or midwifery, work patterns, and the habit of checking their phones immediately upon waking and before sleeping were found to influence their levels of nomophobia.ConclusionThe study observed that mobile phone usage among nurses and midwives in a gynecology and pediatrics setting negatively affects their mental and physical health, with a moderate level of nomophobia being prevalent. Notably, older age and increased work experience were associated with lower nomophobia scores.Implications for nursing practiceInitiatives aimed at preventing the onset of nomophobia are recommended, especially targeting younger nurses and midwives who play a crucial role in health service delivery.</jats:sec
Effects of infliximab on testicular torsion/detorsion injury in rats
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate whether infliximab (INF), Tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) monoclonal antibody, has a protective effect on experimental testiküler torsiyon/detorsiyon (TT/D) injury and whether apoptotic pathways contribute to this possible effect. Materials and Methods: 42 male Wistar albino rats were randomly divided into three equal main groups: Sham, torsion/detorsion (T/D), and INF+T/D. Each group was then divided into two subgroups with detorsion periods of 24 hours (n =7) and 65 days (n=7). The right testes of anesthetized rats were rotated 720° clockwise for 3 hours to induce torsion. INF (ip, 5 mg/kg) was administered to the rats in the INF+T/D group 10 minutes before detorsion, while saline was administered to the rats in the other groups. At 24 hours after detorsion, the histopathological injury was evaluated by Johnsen scoring and caspase activities by immunohistochemical staining. Results: Mean testis and cauda epididymis weights, sperm count, and Johnsen score were significantly lower in the T/D group than in the sham group. In addition, marked immunostaining of caspase-3, caspase-8, and caspase-9 was observed in spermatocytes and spermatids in the T/D group. INF administration did not prevent a decrease in testicular (0.80±0.132) and epididymal (0.121±0.247) weights, sperm count (2.0 ± 1.67 x106), or Johnsen score (8.70 ± 0.594). for caspases in spermatogenic cells. Conclusion: In TT/D injury, INF treatment did not reduce apoptosis and testicular atrophy and did not increase sperm count. TNF-α blockage did not show a protective effect on rat TT/D injury.</jats:p

Huge intermediate-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma in the retroperitoneum revealed by 18F-FDG PET/CT: a case report
Myofibroblastic sarcoma (MS) is a relatively rare malignant bone and soft tissue tumor, which originates from myofibroblasts, with some characteristics of both smooth muscle cells and fibroblasts. It can develop in individuals at any age and can affect various regions, especially the head and neck; however, it is rarely reported retroperitoneally. Generally, this type of sarcoma is considered a low-grade malignancy, and cases classified as moderate and high-grade malignancy are rare. In this study, we describe a case of intermediate-grade myofibroblastic sarcoma (IGMS) originating from the retroperitoneum, which was confirmed through pathological diagnosis. The 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) scan revealed a large, borderless mass located retroperitoneally with a significantly increased 18F-FDG uptake, accompanied by adjacent visceral and soft tissue infiltration and peripheral lymph node metastasis. The patient received chemotherapy for 3 weeks; however, the tumor did not shrink significantly. Therefore, the patient discontinued the treatment. After 5 months, his condition gradually deteriorated, which eventually led to death. Through this case report, the diagnosis and treatment of moderate malignant retroperitoneal myofibroblastoma were discussed, aiming to increase clinicians' understanding of this disease.</jats:p
Evaluation of Inflammatory Biomarkers in Predicting Strangulation in Incarcerated Inguinal Hernias in Adult Patients Admitted to the Emergency Department; Cross-Sectional Study
Aim: It is very important to determine the diagnosis of strangulation quickly and with high accuracy in patients presenting with incarcerated hernia. Early diagnosis of strangulation reduces the rate of bowel resection. The objective of our study was to assess the effectiveness and consistency of recently established indices, namely neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV) in predicting the occurrence of strangulation in incarcerated hernias. Material and Methods: Our study included patients over the age of 18 who presented to the emergency department with abdominal pain between 01.01.2020 and 01.01.2023 and were diagnosed with incarcerated inguinal hernia according to the examination results. There were two groups of patients with strangulated inguinal hernia (SIH) and non-strangulated inguinal hernia (NSIH). Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis was used to define the cut-off in diagnostic value values. Results: A total of 128 patients (39 SIH and 89 NSIH) were enrolled. Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio, There was determined to be acceptable diagnostic power for SIH detection using SII, SIRI, and PIV (AUC:0.738-0.765). Conclusion: Biomarkers such as SII, SIRI, PIV and NLR can be utilized for prediction SIH in incarcerated hernias.</jats:p
Effect of Bed Material on Roughness and Hydraulic Potential in Filyos River
Seasonal changes, sea level rise, and global warming make flood events more frequent, which necessitates watershed management and efficient use of water resources. In this context, understanding the hydrodynamic behavior of basins is critical for the development of flood prevention strategies. The contributions of hydrological and hydraulic modeling techniques in this process are among the key determinants of sustainable water resources management. The Filyos Sub-Basin, located in the Western Black Sea Basin, stands out as one of the regions where flood risk assessment is a priority, as it has two important floodplains. This study aims to analyze the flood risk in the Filyos River Sub-Basin with hydraulic modeling methods, and to determine the Manning roughness coefficient. In the study, the parameters affecting the roughness of the river bed were analyzed using the Cowan method, and the effects of vegetation on river bed resistance were evaluated in the laboratory environment. Flood simulations were carried out for four different flow rates (Q1000, Q500, Q100 and Q50) using the HEC-RAS model, and the performance of flood protection structures were analyzed. The findings show that a significant portion of the existing protection structures are unable to meet the potential flood flows, which can cause serious damage to residential and agricultural areas. In basins with limited historical discharge data, such as the Filyos River, these findings provide important contributions to sustainable water resources management and regional planning processes. The results of the study serve as a reference for flood risk assessment, not only for the Filyos River Basin, but also for other basins with similar hydrodynamic characteristics. It is envisaged that future research, supported by larger data sets, can improve the accuracy of flood simulations. Furthermore, the Cowan method and HEC-RAS model used in this study are expected to contribute to strategic planning and engineering solutions to minimize flood risk in other watershed management projects. In future studies, we plan to further develop methodological approaches for determining the roughness coefficient, and to address applications to increase the effectiveness of flood protection structures.</jats:p
