The relationship between pan intensity and scapular endurance and core muscle functionality in rotator cuff tendinopathy
No full textAmaç: Rotator manşet tendinopatisi olan hastalarda, ağrı şiddeti ile skapular kasların dayanıklılığı ve kor kaslarının işlevselliği arasındaki ilişkiyi incelemek amaçlanmıştır.
Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya, 25-65 yaşları arasında rotator manşet tendinopatisi tanısı almış 40 hasta (25 kadın, 15 erkek) dahil edildi. Hastaların ağrı
şiddetleri Numerik Ağrı Skalası (NAS) ile, skapular kasların dayanıklılığı skapular kassal endurans testi (SKET), kor kaslarının işlevselliği ise tek bacak duvar oturuşu testi ve tekrarlayan tek bacakla çömelme testi ile değerlendirildi.
Bulgular: Hastaların, yaş ortalaması 43,95±10,12 yıl, ağrı şiddeti ortalamasıı 6,57±1,41, skapular kas dayanıklık ortalaması 24,525±20,13 sn, tek bacakla duvar oturuş testi ortalaması 12,9±10,01 sn ve tek bacakla çömelme testi ortalaması 6,85±3,93 tekrar idi. Hastaların, ağrı şiddetleri ile skapular
kasların dayanıklılığı (p= 0,021, r=-0,363) ve kor kaslarının işlevselliği (Tek Bacak Duvar Oturuş Testi Dominant ve Tekrarlayan Tek Bacakla Çömelme
Dominant) arasında (p= 0,007, r=-0,417; p= 0,042, r=-0,323, sırasıyla) negatif yönlü orta şiddette anlamlı bir ilişki bulundu. Hastaların, skapular kaslarının dayanıklılığı ile kor kaslarının işlevsellikleri (Tek Bacak Duvar Oturuş Testi Dominant ve Tekrarlayan Tek Bacakla Çömelme Dominant) arasında ise
pozitif yönlü kuvvetli anlamlı ilişki olduğu görüldü (p= 0,001, r= 0,868; p= 0,001, r= 0,742).
Sonuç: Rotator manşet tendinopatisi tanısı almış hastaların orta şiddette ağrı bildirdikleri, skapular kas dayanıklılığı ve kor kasları işlevselliğinin azaldığı
görülürken; ağrı şiddetinin artması ile skapular kas dayanıklılığı ve kor kasları işlevselliğinin azaldığı görüldü. Bu sonuçlar, rotator manşet tendinopatisi
tanısı almış hastaların fizyoterapi ve rehabilitasyon programlarında skapular kas dayanıklılığı ve kor kasları işlevselliğini arttırmaya yönelik rehabilitasyon
uygulamalarının göz önünde bulundurulması gerektiğini düşündürdü.Objectve: To examine the relationship between pain intensity and endurance of scapular muscles and functionality of core muscles in patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy.
Methods: Forty voluntary patients between 25-65 years old (25 women, 15 men) were involved in the study. The pain level, scapular endurance, and the functionality of core muscles were measured with numerical pain scale (NPRS), scapular muscular endurance test, single-leg wall stance test, and repetitive single-leg squat test, respectively.
Results: The mean age of the patients was 43.95 ± 10.12 years, the mean pain intensity was 6.57 ± 1.41. The mean scapular endurance of patients was 24,525±20,13 seconds. The mean of single-leg wall stance test was 12,9±10,01 sec, and the mean of repetitive single-leg squat test was 6,85±3,93 repeats. A significant negative correlation was found between pain intensity and scapular endurance (p= 0,021, r=-0,363). A significant negative correlation was found between pain intensity and the functionality of core muscles of patients (the mean of single-leg wall stance test, the mean of repetitive single-leg squat test) (p= 0,007, r=-0,417; p= 0,042, r=-0,323, respectively). A significant positive correlation was found between scapular endurance and the functionality of core muscles of patients (the mean of single-leg wall stance test, the mean of repetitive single-leg squat test), (p= 0,001, r= 0,868; p= 0,001, r= 0,742, respectively).
Concluson: Patients with rotator cuff tendinopathy reported moderate pain and it has been detected that the endurance of the scapular muscles and the functionality of the core muscles were decreased. It has also been shown that increase in pain intensity led to decrease in the endurance of the scapular muscles and the functionality of the core muscles. These results suggested that rehabilitation practices targeting the improvement of scapular muscle endurance and core muscle functionality should be considered in the physiotherapy and rehabilitation programs of patients diagnosed with rotator cuff tendinopathy.No sponso
Comparing nonlinear optimization techniques to predict dynamic parameters of biological processes in nonlinear differential equation models

decade. During the development process, the modeler creates a model that is as close to the
underlying real dynamics as possible. It is extremely difficult to evaluate the numerous
parameters that appear in the nonlinear equations in a way that does not cause the parameter
estimates of the dynamic constants to stray into regions of parameter space that produce
nonphysical predictions. The use of parameter estimation and nonlinear fitting techniques in
conjunction with numerical models allows for greater flexibility by allowing for a variety of
experimental boundary and starting conditions. The majority of the defined methods are
iterative in nature, necessitating the use of an initial estimate of the unknown parameters to be
optimized before proceeding. Multi-objective optimization methods are also used to capture
both the underlying dynamics and the main response. Although it is possible to estimate
unknown parameters in complex nonlinear differential equation models using experimental or
clinical data, doing so is extremely difficult. Consequently, we usually fix some parameter
values, either based on literature or personal experience, in order to obtain only parameter
estimates that are relevant from clinical or experimental data. When such prior information is
not available, it is preferable to derive all of the parameter estimates from data rather than from
prior information. In this study, different nonlinear optimization approaches will be compared
in order to estimate different biological dynamic parameters in a nonlinear differential equation

Comparison of the effects of various approaches to improve energy efficiency in hotels: Antalya case
No full textTürkiye’deki ticari yapılar arasında %35’lik oranla en yüksek enerji tüketimine sahip olan otel binalarında, enerji verimliliği potansiyelinden istifade edilmesi, sürdürülebilir enerji kullanımı için bir gereklilik haline gelmiştir. Bu çalışmada, enerji verimliliğini arttırmaya yönelik on iki farklı yaklaşım, Antalya’da beş yıldızlı anonim bir şehir oteli için, altı referans çalışma dikkate alınarak değerlendirilmiş, önerilen uygulamaların olası tasarruf oranlarına etkisi karşılaştırılmıştır. Antalya ili, turizm tesis sayısının fazlalığı ile enerji verimliliği konusunda yüksek bir potansiyele sahiptir. Analiz edilen yöntemlerin anonim otelde uygulanması halinde, 332.596 TL/yılile 4.951.982 TL/yıl arasında tasarruf sağlanabileceği belirlenmiştir.
Ön görülen tasarruf miktarının en iyi durumda 5 milyon TL’ye yakın olduğu
düşünüldüğünde, otelin yaklaşık olarak 12.318.362 TL/yıl olan birincil enerji
tüketim giderinde önemli bir azalma sağlanacağı açıktır. Her bir yaklaşımın ilk yatırım ve işletme maliyetleri birbirinden farklı olduğu için, geri ödeme sürelerine bağlı olarak elde edilecek ekonomik fayda yerine muhtemel tasarruf miktarlarına odaklanılmıştır. Bununla birlikte, tüm yaklaşımlar arasından aydınlatma kontrolünün, ilk aşama için basit ve ekonomik bir yaklaşım olacağı söylenebilir.The utilization of the energy efficiency potential in hotel buildings, which has the highest energy consumption rate of 35% among commercial buildings in Turkey, has become a necessity for sustainable energy use. In this study, twelve approaches in six reference studies were used to examine the energy efficiency improvement potential of a five-star anonymous city hotel in Antalya. On prospective savings rates, the impact of suggested approaches was compared. Antalya province has great potential in terms of energy efficiency with a high number of tourism facilities. It has been determined that the annual savings will be between 332,596 TL and 4,951,982 TL if the methods examined are applied in the hotel. Considering that the anticipated savings are close to 5 million TL in the best case, a significant reduction will be achieved in the hotel's primary energy consumption price, which is approximately 12,318,362 TL/year. Since the initial investment and operating costs of each approach differ, the focus is on possible savings instead of economic benefits depending on payback periods. However, among all the approaches, it is possible to say that lighting control will be a simple and economical approach initially.No sponso

the nature of complications that occur chronically and reduce patients’ quality of life have not been entirely determined. In our study, 35 male rats were
used. A single dose of 40 mg/kg streptozotocin was injected intraperitoneal into 28 rats, and a total of five groups were formed. The diabetes model was
performed by applying 40mg/kg STZ and was not established in the subjects in the control and citrate buffer groups with STZ solvent. The quercetin and
moss extract were given by gavage for three weeks. The liver and pancreas tissues were examined by histochemical and immunohistochemical methods.
Ki-67 (proliferation marker), antinuclear factor kappa (NF-κB), and interleukin 6 (IL-6) immunohistochemically staining revealed significant differences
in inflammation and regeneration in the liver and pancreas tissues. In addition, the TUNEL staining method was used to determine apoptosis. Positivity
was significant between the treatment and diabetes groups. It was determined that the agents used as treatment changed serum superoxide dismutase
(SOD), malondialdehyde (MDA), C-peptide, insulin, and glucose levels.BA
Do transgenders have right to change their names before changing their sex officially? The approach of Turkish courts
No full textGlobal Meeting on Law & Society (7. : 2022 : Lisbon, Portugal)As a rule, it is not accepted for a person to change his or her name in Turkey. Although the unchangeability principle of name is in effect, according to Turkish Civil Code, when there is a justifiable reason, this principal reverses. The personal reasons or reasons arising from family relations or relating to commercial activities may constitute the justifiable reason which grounds the name change request. In this context, if one’s name puts an obstacle for that person to live properly in a society, then that person’s request should be acceptable. For instance Turkish judges accepts the name change requests of the claimant in many cases when the official name in the personal registry documents does not correspond with the known name of that person. In 2017, a transgender person who is known as “D.” among his friends but registered officially as “H.”, claimed a name change request but the judge of the first instance court in Ankara rejected this claim. The reason for rejection was that the claimant’s requested name of “D.” is a name for females and the claimant have not changed the current gender yet. The court also states that, changing a name of a man called “H.” to a woman’s name “D.” would breach the order in the society. Dramatically, the regional court affirmed the decision of the first instance court. The approach of both courts to this dispute unfortunately gendered the names in a society and applies the current law differently which is unequal for transgender persons. Eventually, the claimant brought this decision before Turkish Constitutional Court which granted a decision indicating that the right to respect the privacy has breached. According to these explanations, we aim to discuss the justness of transgender persons’ name change request before their sex change process as per to Turkish Civil Code which is a long, expensive and a challenging way, by explaining the conditions of two situations as per to law and by referring current court decisions.No sponso
Project transferring water from Turkey to Cyprus Island
No full textThe island of Cyprus, like other Mediterranean islands, is located in a semi-arid climate zone. Since the annual rainfall in the region is low and it only rains in winter, drought and water shortages have been experienced throughout the history on the island and are still being experienced now. In this study, firstly, the climate and water resources of the island of Cyprus were evaluated. Then, some water resources projects carried out in Southern Cyprus are summarized. In addition, some investigations made to meet the increasing water demand were evaluated. On the other hand, in 2015, a water transfer project was carried out from Turkey to Northern Cyprus with pipes laid under the sea. After evaluating this water project according to today's conditions, the current water situation of Northern Cyprus was examined. Finally, the situation of meeting the agricultural water needed in the region and the climate change and the studies that need to be done for adaptation is emphasized.No sponso

Hemşire çizelgeleme problemi ve optimzasyonları
No full textÇalışanlar için çizelgeleme sorununun ilk geliştirilip uygulanmasından itibaren, çalışan verimliliği, maliyet düşürme vb. alanlarda önemli başarılar elde edilmiştir. Bu alanda sıklıkla çalışılan hemşire çizelgeleme problemleri ise sağlık sektörü gibi çalışma koşullarının standarttan farklı olduğu bir alanda büyük önem taşımaktadır. Hemşirelerin çalışma biçimleri uzun vardiya saatlerinden oluştuğu için stres, dikkat kaybı, kişisel ve psikolojik sorunlar gibi istenmeyen durumlara yol açabilmektedir. Bu nedenlerle 7/24 çalışan hemşire çizelgeleme problemi olan hastanelerde bu problem verimlilik hedefleri açısından ciddi bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Akdeniz bölgesinde bir devlet hastanesinin acil servisinde çalışan hemşirelerin yaşadıkları güçlük ve sorunların incelenmesi ve hemşireler için İkili doğrusal program ve balık kılçığı diyagramı kullanarak yeni bir çizelge (Ani değişikliklere uygun, hemşire haklarını ve isteklerini karşılayabilen) oluşturulması amaçlanmıştır. Oluşturulan program IBM ILOG CPLEX ile çözülmüş ve sonuçlar hastane yönetimi ile paylaşılmıştır.No sponso
