No full textIn addition to the difficulty of diagnosis in periprosthetic joint infections (PJI) following total knee arthroplasty, the infectious agent is also often difficult to identify. Correct identification of the pathogen increases the chance of a successful treatment. Although rare, clinicians should keep brucella infections in mind when a pathogen can not be found in PJI cases.
A 58 years old female patient was diagnosed with a periprosthetic brucella infection following bilateral total knee arthroplasty. All symptoms disappeared in the postoperative first year after a two-step revision arthroplasty.
We aimed to draw attention to periprosthetic infections caused by brucella and to perform a review of literature in this case report.Total diz artroplastisini takiben periprostetik eklem enfeksiyonlarında (PPE) tanı koymanın zorluğuna ek olarak, enfeksiyon etkeninin tanımlanması da sıklıkla zordur. Patojenin doğru tanımlanması, başarılı bir tedavi şansını arttırır. Nadir de olsa PPE olgularında patojen bulunamadığında klinisyenler brusella enfeksiyonlarını akılda tutmalıdır.
58 yaşında bayan hastaya bilateral total diz artroplastisi sonrası periprostetik brusella enfeksiyonu tanısı konuldu. İki aşamalı revizyon artroplastisinden sonraki ilk yılda tüm semptomlar kayboldu.

No full textIn today’s highly competitive market, celebrity endorsement is a widely used marketing technique in marketing communications; a credible strategy endorsed by brands not only used to attract and engage target customers in local markets but also used to reach out the global communities in the overseas markets. Research findings show that celebrity endorsement, when used effectively, increases purchase intention and sales; enabling brand familiarity and awareness among consumers. This paper aims to explain the cultural foundations of the celebrity endorsement in the context of meaning transfer model; concurrently examining the Turkish Airlines (THY) celebrity endorsement strategy; a full service carrier operating in Turkey. THY proved itself as a successful brand in Turkey in the use of global celebrities in integrated marketing communications while reaching up to the global customer base; in summary ended up with positive outcomes.Günümüz rekabetçi pazar ortamında, ünlülerin ürün ve markaların pazarlama iletişiminde kullanılması oldukça popüler olan bir pazarlama tekniğidir. perception of ethics notion by Turkish accounting professionals is still unclear at certain
points. On the other hand, as ethical behavior is not achieved over night, thoroughly
conducted research sheds light on the fact that formation of ethics, among other reasons,

No full textToday, as a result of the increasing energy demand, the importance of alternative
energy sources and the methods of increasing the efficiency of these is increasing. One
of these systems is thermoelectric generators (TEG), which can convert heat energy into
electrical energy and operate in accordance with the Seebeck principle. These generators
with P-N junction semiconductor structure, which can convert the temperature radiance
between their two surfaces into electrical energy, are widely used in the heating/cooling
systems, automotive and energy industry. It is seen in much research that waste heat
energy has been converted into electrical energy by means of these generators and the
energy needs of electronic devices with low power consumption have been met. In this
study, the TEG design obtained by serial connection of Peltier coolers and the integration
of this generator to the back sheet of the photovoltaic panel are investigated. The main
purpose of the study is to determine whether the waste heat energy emitted by the
photovoltaic panel can be converted into electrical energy by using it via a TEG. At the
same time, it is the observation of the maximum efficiency of solar cells, whose ideal
operating temperature is achieved by means of TEG passive cooling system. As a result
of all these, it is observed that thermoelectric generators have energy production values
of mW, even if methods such as heat sink and thermal paste are applied to increase the
temperature difference between the two surfaces of the generator. If the effect of the TEG
on the passive cooling of the Photovoltaic panel is evaluated, it is obvious that there is no
visible increase according to the tests made as a result of different days and hours. In the
application phase, the methodology section is examined under two headings. In the first
phase, a Peltier cooler design and thermal-electrical analysis are carried out using the
COMSOL Multiphysics program. In the second stage, prototype thermoelectric
generator-PV panel system has been realized and power generation output are observed
with the data taken at different days and hours. It is seen that heatsink increases the
temperature difference between the two surfaces of the thermoelectric generator and
provides up to 6% increase in generator energy production, especially on windy days. It
is not possible to say that the same situation contributes to the passive cooling of the

Frailty in older Turkish cancer patients undergoing post-surgical adjuvant chemotherapy
No full textBackground: Understanding the frailty levels of older patients undergoing surgery and chemotherapy will contribute to timely and reliable care practices and improve care outcomes. Aims: To determine the frailty of cancer patients who received chemotherapy treatment after surgery. Methods: This descriptive study included 192 Turkish patients aged over 60 years who received chemotherapy after surgery for cancer. Data were collected using a patient survey and the Edmonton Frailty Scale. Results: The average age of the participants was 66.3±5.3 years. Around 40% (40.6%) of the sample were diagnosed with breast cancer. The Edmonton Frailty Scale score of the group was 6.6 (SD±3.7). A quarter of the sample (22.9%) were at risk of frailty. Frailty levels were higher in older individuals with gastrointestinal cancers and other cancer groups compared with patients with breast cancer (p<0.001); patients with additional chronic diseases other than cancer (p=0.004); and in those with a history of falling and hospitalisation in the past year (p<0.001). Conclusions: Older patients with gastrointestinal cancer, additional chronic disease and a history of
falling and hospitalisation within the past year should be evaluated closely for frailty before and during chemotherapy. It is crucial to consider the patient’s vulnerability when making care and treatment decisions for older patients with cancer. Understanding the frailty levels of older patients
who undergo surgery and receive chemotherapy can help health professionals to decide on timely and reliable care practices and improve care outcomes.No sponso

No full textBu çalışmanın amacı, kültürün ve toplumsal yaşamın birebir yansıdığı, mekân ve sosyal yaşantı arasındaki karşılıklı ilişkiyi gösteren Geleneksel geleneksel sokakların Cumhuriyet Döneminde yazılan şiirlerdeki betimlemeler üzerinden analizini yapmaktır. Kentin iletişim ve etkileşim alanlarını oluşturan sokaklar, sadece fiziksel bir mekân olarak değil, bileşenleri ve özellikleri ile kullanıcılarına farklı anlamlar da ileten mekânlardır. Sokaklar, başka mekânlara uzantı ya da iletişim sağlayan geçiş mekan mekânları olmanın ötesinde yapılardan sokağa taşan ilişkileri kuran, bazen bir bahçenin uzantısı, bazen ortak alanları ile kullanıcısına işlevsel açıdan katkı sağlayan ve kullanıcılarının iletişim alanları olabilen önemli mekân bileşenleridir. Bu nedenle, çalışmada özellikle sokak temasının daha net görüldüğü Cumhuriyet Dönemi şiirleri ele alınarak, şiirlerdeki sokak betimlemeleri nitelemeler üzerinden incelenmektedir. Çalışmada şiirlerde bahsedilen sokak hayatını, sokağı oluşturan kentsel mekân bileşenlerini, peyzaj unsurlarını belleğinde toplayıp nesnel ve simgesel bir şekilde şiirlere mekânsallaştırılarak aktarılan sokaklara ait kavramsal betimlemeler sorgulanmaktadır. Değerlendirmeler nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden söylem analiziyle yapılarak, nitelenen mekânlar üzerinden Geleneksel geleneksel Sokak sokak betimlemeleri incelenmektedir. Çalışma dört bölümden oluşmaktadır: birinci bölümde; konu ile ilgili literatür taraması ve çalışma hakkında bilgiler, ikinci bölümde; Materyal ve Yöntem başlığı altında ele alınan şiirler ve şiirlerin analiz yöntemi, üçüncü bölümde; Bulgular ve Tartışma başlığı altında şiirlerin analizinden elde edilen betimlemeler üzerinden dönemin mekân değerlendirmeleri yer almaktadır. Dördüncü bölümde çalışmaya dair sonuç ve öneriler bulunmaktadır. Çalışma, şiirlerle betimlenen mekan mekânların okuyucuyla kurdukları ilişkileri, iletilmek istenen mesajları ve anlamları çözümlemek için önemli bir referans olabilecektir.No sponso
