Psychosocial determinants of religious/denominational conversion: a person–environment fit perspective
Get PDFReligious or denominational conversion is a complex process that involves various psychosocial factors. One theoretical framework that has been utilized to comprehend the determinants of religious conversion is the person-environment fit model. This study examines the role of personal and socio-cultural factors that play a significant role in conversion processes within a person-environment fit perspective. The analysis demonstrates that individuals are more likely to convert to a new religion or denomination when they perceive a good fit between their personal and socio-cultural characteristics and the characteristics of the religious or denominational environment. Personal factors that may influence the decision to convert include: personality traits, values, beliefs, and thinking styles, while socio-cultural factors comprise: socialization, familial and cultural norms and standards, and social integration processes. Moreover, both categories of factors interact in the conversion process, influencing potential decisions to convert to varying degrees. When an individual’s religious beliefs, values, and norms align with those of a newly encountered group, they are more likely to identify with the group's goals and mission.Konwersja religijna lub wyznaniowa jest złożonym procesem, który obejmuje różne czynniki psychospołeczne. Jednym z podejść teoretycznych, które mogą zostać wykorzystane do zrozumienia determinantów konwersji religijnej, jest model dopasowania osoba – środowisko. W niniejszym opracowaniu zbadano rolę czynników osobistych i społeczno-kulturowych, które odgrywają istotną rolę w procesach konwersji w perspektywie dopasowania osoba – środowisko. Analiza wykazała, że jednostki są bardziej skłonne do przejścia na nową religię lub wyznanie, gdy dostrzegają dobre dopasowanie między swoimi cechami osobistymi i społeczno-kulturowymi a cechami środowiska religijnego lub wyznaniowego. Czynniki osobiste, które mogą wpływać na decyzję o konwersji, obejmują: cechy osobowości, wartości, przekonania i style myślenia, natomiast wśród czynników społeczno-kulturowych można wymienić: socjalizację, normy i standardy rodzinne i kulturowe oraz procesy integracji społecznej. Ponadto obie kategorie czynników oddziałują na siebie w procesie konwersji, wpływając w różnym stopniu na potencjalne decyzje o konwersji. Kiedy przekonania religijne, wartości i normy jednostki są zgodne z przekonaniami, wartościami i normami nowo poznanej grupy, jest bardziej prawdopodobne, że będzie ona identyfikować się z celami i misją grupy
Orthodoxy and interreligious dialogue
Get PDFThe interreligious dialogue has a very important place in all the meeting agendas from all over the world, regardless the topic addressed. Having a concrete dynamic, this kind of theological problematic follows the general spiritual movement of communities and their unresolved necessities. Although the interreligious dialogue has an old history, it developed today on the basis of actual issues of violence and disagreements between peoples. Therefore, because religion has an essential place in the life of human communities from all over the world, the dialogue with people of other faiths and ideologies must be necessarily promoted. In this context, the Orthodox Church representatives participated at many meetings in the purpose to promote and sustain the interreligious dialogue, bringing in actuality their bi-millenaries theological experience, based on the Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition. From the orthodox point of view, the liberty is the greatest gift which God has give to man and also a free world cannot exist without love between people. This love has its fundament and purpose in the Holy Trinity.Dialog międzyreligijny zajmuje bardzo ważne miejsce w niemal wszystkich spotkaniach, niezależnie od poruszanego tematu. Mając swoją konkretną dynamikę, ta teologiczna problematyka idzie w parze z ogólnym duchowym rozwojem różnych społeczności i ich aktualnymi potrzebami. Chociaż dialog międzyreligijny ma długą historię, współcześnie rozwinął się w związku z kwestiami przemocy i konfliktami między narodami. Ponieważ religia zajmuje istotne miejsce w życiu społeczności ludzkich na całym świecie, konieczną rzeczą staje się promowanie dialogu z ludźmi innych wyznań i ideologii. Dlatego przedstawiciele Kościoła prawosławnego uczestniczą w wielu spotkaniach mających na celu promowanie i podtrzymywanie dialogu międzyreligijnego, wnosząc weń swoje doświadczenie teologiczne, oparte na Piśmie Świętym i Świętej Tradycji. Z prawosławnego punktu widzenia wolność jest największym darem, jaki Bóg dał człowiekowi, a wolny świat nie może istnieć bez miłości między ludźmi. Miłość ta ma swój fundament i cel w Trójcy Świętej

Get PDFThe presented study deals with the concept of Art Nouveau in Czech literary studies. In the first part, we try to outline the meaning that literary critics assigned to the term Art Nouveau at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when this term first began to appear in the Czech language environment. In the second part, we introduce the basic approaches to the term Art Nouveau, which numerous literary historians have applied in their works in many variations over the years. The aim of the paper is to point out the ambiguity of the term Art Nouveau, the core of which lies in the insufficient distinction between the original meaning of the term(from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries) and the later meanings that literary historians began to ascribe to it. The aim of the thesis is also to infer criteria from the presented analyses and interpretations, the observance of which would lead to a clearer usage of the term Art Nouveau and, consequently, to its introduction as a justified literary-historical categor

Its main objective is an attempt to work out a scientific concept of seeking proposals for practical solutions to current problems connected with the family and the life of its members. The unquestionable value of the family in the Church is conditioned by the internal transformations of the family itself, while its role in society is largely dependent on the external situation.The article is devoted to „family problematic” in the ecclesial and social perspective. Its main objective is an attempt to work out a scientific concept of seeking proposals for practical solutions to current problems connected with the family and the life of its members. The unquestionable value of the family in the Church is conditioned by the internal transformations of the family itself, while its role in society is largely dependent on the external situation. This article is primarily concerned with appreciating the social dimension of family issues in the perspective of applied theology. Its main object of study is man as an individual, unique unit, who, however, can develop properly and realize his personal, existential and Christian vocation in social relations, including primarily the family, but also in the church community. To learn about family issues in applied theology, an exploratory research scheme can be used, which involves using the results of critical analysis of revealed truth to interpret the results of secular science research in order to solve specific problems of contemporary families

Get PDFThe meat sector is responsible for a significant part of the anthropogenic greenhousegases, and without its transformation it is not possible to stop the climate change. Theeasiest way to decrease the meat sector’s carbon footprint is to change meat consumptionmodels, to which advertisements or other types of promotion can contribute. Accordingto Article 80 of the Environmental Protection Law, promotion of goods and services thatencourage a consumption model inconsistent with the principles of environmental protectionand sustainable development is prohibited. Advertising red meat seems to fulfill all therationales of the above provision. In order to verify this thesis, this publication performsa detailed analysis of the rationales of the prohibition of non-ecological advertising relatingit to red meat promotions. The main purpose of the publication is to interpret Article 80of the Environmental Protection Law, which can be used to counteract the most harmfulmanifestations of human activity.Sektor mięsny odpowiada za istotną część antropogenicznych gazów cieplarnianychi bez jego transformacji nie jest możliwe zatrzymanie zmian klimatu. Najłatwiejszymsposobem zmniejszenia emisyjności sektora mięsnego jest zmiana modelu konsumpcji mięsa,do czego mogą się przyczyniać reklamy lub innego rodzaju promocje. Zgodnie z art. 80 ustawy Prawo ochrony środowiska promocja towarów i usług propagująca model konsumpcjisprzeczny z zasadami ochrony środowiska i zrównoważonego rozwoju jest zakazana.Promocje mięsa czerwonego zdają się wypełniać wszystkie przesłanki powyższego przepisu.W celu weryfikacji tej tezy niniejsza publikacja dokonuje szczegółowej analizy przesłanekzakazu reklamy nieekologicznej, odnosząc go do promocji mięsa czerwonego. In view of the importance of this principle in the Polish legal order, it is still a topical scientific and research issue. For this reason, the author attempts to present the most important issues related to the essence of economic freedom in juxtaposition with the three main economic models occurring today and the limitations that the principle of economic freedom has to face.Zasadą wpisaną w Konstytucję Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej jest gwarancja wolności gospodarczej, będącej jednocześnie podstawą gospodarki rynkowej, na którą ograniczenia mogą być nakładane tylko w drodze ustawy lub ze względu na ważny interes publiczny. W związku z doniosłością niniejszej zasady w polskim porządku prawnym stanowi ona nadal aktualną problematykę naukowo-badawczą. Ze względu na starożytne pochodzenie stanowi ono niezwykle cenne źródło wiedzy o wczesnym chrześcijaństwie, szczególnie w zakresie liturgii chrześciańskiej tego okresu
