When mood and time align: nasal esketamine reduces lived time disturbances in treatment-resistant depression

These two cases highlight the utility of a focused, structured clinical phenomenological interview in measuring treatment effectiveness in subjective experience. Two male patients, aged 35 and 27, of Serbian ethnicity with treatment-resistant depression were treated with nasal esketamine, with clinical progress monitored using both the Montgomery–Åsberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS) and the Transdiagnostic Assessment of Temporal Experience (TATE), a structured instrument assessing the patient’s felt sense of time. Notably, TATE scores in the first case reached general population levels at week 4, one week prior to the treatment response, as indicated by MADRS. These findings underscore the value of phenomenological assessments in complementing traditional depression scales to capture nuanced improvements during treatmen

The Law of the Algorithmic State in Serbia

    No full text
Serbia, like many other countries, is in the process of reforming its legislation to accommodate artificial intelligence-driven systems. The country has made some progress with investment in artificial intelligence (AI) research and development, the creation of IT infrastructure to support the future introduction of AI in the public sector, and the establishment of a strategic framework. While there is no binding national legislation solely dedicated to AI, the Strategy for Development of Artificial Intelligence in the Republic of Serbia for the period 2020–2025 lays the ground for integrating AI in sectors such as health, education, and public administration. It was supplemented by the adoption of Ethical Guidelines for Development, Application and Use of Reliable and Responsible Artificial Intelligence. The forthcoming Strategy 2024–2030 aims to further these goals, while addressing concerns about data protection and the ethical application of AI and is expected to be followed soon by a dedicated piece of legislation that will regulate the use of AI in detail. Despite the efforts made to increase the use of AI in public administration, in practice it is still limited, and this paper examines a few examples of current or intended use. Even though Serbia is not part of the European Union, it strives to become a Member State, which entails aligning with the European Union acquis communautaire in all areas. Given the recent enactment by the EU of the first-ever regulation on AI – the Artificial Intelligence Act (AI Act) – it can be expected that Serbia will follow the lead and prepare a draft Law on AI that will be (for the most part) aligned with the AI Act. It can be concluded that the wider use of AI technologies by the public administration in Serbia will have to wait for both the establishment of the infrastructural and technical architecture for its application and the legislative alignment of a number of legislative acts before it can be fully implemented

Use of artificial intelligence (ai) in the education system – a comparative analysis of Serbia and its neighbours

    No full text
The concept of modern education has been in a constant state of flux in the 21st century, influenced by new technologies that redefine the paradigm of traditional learning models. Artificial intelligence (AI) has already been a topic for debate for years. – However, its rapid development and use across numerous fields have only recently gained momentum. Leading nations worldwide, along with governmental and non-governmental sectors, have quickly recognised the advantages of AI and begun its implementation. The benefits of using AI have been swiftly acknowledged both in the education system (primary and secondary schools, universities) and in cultural institutions (museums, archives, libraries). This paper examines the current state of AI application in the education systems in Serbia and its neighbours, highlighting the specificities of AI implementation in these countries. Special attention is dedicated to the use and analysis of advanced platforms in education, such as ChatGPT, MidJourney, and HeyGen. With their transformative potential, these technologies are reshaping traditional teaching models and steering the education process toward modernisation. However, the modernisation also entails the integration of intelligent technological-pedagogical knowledge about content, and offers opportunities to combine technological competencies with teachers’ (educators’) pedagogical skills in AI. The potentials for personalised learning are expanding, allowing educational materials to be tailored to the specific needs and abilities of each pupil or student, which could ease the workload for teachers and other educators, including administrative school staff. This enables the introduction of more modern curricula and didactic teaching materials, fostering a more creative environment for working and learning. Additionally, new technologies significantly streamline certain administrative tasks across all levels, from preschool institutions to universities and education centres. The authors of the paper present the characteristics of the current state of AI use in Serbia and neighbouring countries, and through a comparative analysis, explore the potential uses of AI in education, as well as the challenges and risks arising with new technologies. This comparative approach provides an insight into the progressiveness, inclusivity, and technological orientation of the education environment

Towards Developing Sustainability-Driven Strategic Framework in ICT SMEs in Oman: Case Study

    No full text
ICT SMEs in emerging economies encounter a range of systemic challenges that affect growth. Some of these include inadequate leadership, insufficient market research and vulnerability to external factors. Despite their potential to be the drivers of economic growth in developing countries, small and medium ICT companies challenges in integrating sustainable development into their strategies. This paper proposes a strategic framework that integrates sustainability-driven practices: the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By embedding sustainable leadership, stakeholder engagement, non-financial reporting and continuous innovation into core business strategies, ICT SMEs can simultaneously achieve operational efficiency, financial stability, and societal impact. Through a case study of an ICT SME in Oman, the paper demonstrates how adopting these sustainable practices enhances resilience and competitiveness in rapidly changing markets. The paper concludes by recommending future research to validate this framework across more SMEs, offering pathways for broader application

    No full text
2025, Ayinde v. London Borough of Haringey i Al-Haroun v.
