Media and archetypes: On the concepts of affective mythologies and 'other news' in newspaper reporting
While Darren Kelsey approaches the media as narrative producing machines, John Langer points out the importance of so called other news as a means of shaping public opinion. Relying on Jungian terminology, Kelsey identifies mythic and performative aspects of news, while Langer mostly draws his conclusions on Gramsci's observations, insisting on the importance of so called trivial news. Darren Kelsey concludes that like magic, newspaper stories work in mysterious ways. They can be instruments of illusion, or a means for focusing attention towads new possibilities. Two decades earlier, John Langer, in his study Tabloid Television. Popular Journalism and the 'Other News' researched the news that were mostly regarded as secondary, although by accessibility and volume dominate media and thus shape the public opinion, feelings and acts of individuals. Typical and universal stories enable societies to move according to inherited patterns or initiate change. Both authors draw their conclusion on material gathered in a time span longer than thirty years while relying on various paradigms and methods, pointing out that individuals and societies live in a world of fairytales which govern seemingly rational political choices. The identification of congruent understandings is offered as a proposal for a synthesis of two concepts - the one based on psychoanalytical interpretation and the other based on the notion on importance of representational power. The synthesis shows in what manner different societies create narratives about themselves while relying upon archetypes, representations and stereotypes

DOBA NESIGURNOSTI Nesigurnost posla u savremenom društvu
Konkretno, u ovoj knjizi razmatram promene u objektivnoj i subjektivnoj nesigurnosti posla tokom poslednjih nekoliko decenija, nastojeći da ih smestim u širi društveni kontekst. Studija počiva na dvostrukoj komparativnoj analizi promena nesigurnosti posla u evropskim zemljama. Sa jedne strane, ispitujemo promene u objektivnim i subjektivnim indikatorima nesigurnosti posla pre i posle Svetske ekonomske krize (2008). Sa druge strane, ispitujemo razlike među evropskim zemljama tokom proučavanog perioda. Temporalna dimenzija istražuje kritični istorijski period – period duboke krize neoliberalnog oblika kapitalizma i, konkretnije, Svetske ekonomske krize (2008). Ova knjiga, stoga, ne samo da analizira objektivnu i subjektivnu nesigurnost posla, već nastoji da pruži širi analitički okvir za razumevanje nesigurnosti posla u savremenom društvu
TECHNOLOGY, (DE)SECULARIZATION AND NEW SPRITIRUALITY: A SYSTEM THEORY AND CYBERNETIC ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATIONS IN INTERACTIONS BETWEEN RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS AND BELIEVERS
This study investigates the dual role of technology in shaping secularization
and fostering new spiritual paradigms, with a focus on challenges
faced by traditional religious institutions. Drawing on sociological
systems theory and social cybernetics, the research analyzes how digital
platforms, artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual communities in
particular, reconfigure religious authority, participation, and creation
of meaning in late modern societies. While technology accelerates secularization
by displacing institutional control over moral narratives, it
simultaneously revitalizes spirituality through decentralized, algorithmically
mediated practices such as virtual worship, AI-driven spiritual
guidance, and hybrid religious identities.
Using a mixed-methods approach, this paper combines quantitative
analysis of digital engagement metrics (e.g., social media interactions,
online religious participation rates) with systems-theoretical modeling,
to map feedback loops between technological adoption and institutional
adaptation. Key questions include: How do algorithmic systems
influence the dissemination of religious content? What systemic tensions
arise between traditional hierarchies and decentralized digital
spirituality? We suggest that digital platforms create “cybernetic spirals”,
where institutional rigidity clashes with adaptive, user-driven
spiritual ecosystems, leading to both fragmentation and innovation.
The study aims to contribute a framework for understanding religiosity
in the information age, emphasizing the interdependence of technological
affordances, cultural secularization, and emergent spiritual
practices. Findings will inform debates on institutional resilience, the
ethics of AI in religious contexts, and the redefinition of community
in virtual spaces
AI, Mental Health and Labor law: Towards a Human-right based Framework
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping work organization, labor processes, and labor
conditions as well creating both opportunities and signif icant risks for workers' rights. While
AI technologies can enhance_efficiency and flexibility, their widespread use also intensifies
psychosocial pressures, uncertainty, and mental health challenges. The World Economic Forum an
ticipates that 85 million jobs could be displaced by 2025, raising concerns about stress, burnout,
and the consequences of constant digital connectivity . Despite the urgent nature of these issues,
legal frameworks often lag behind technological developments, leaving workers exposed to emerging
risks.
Recent European Union initiatives offer partial responses. The 2024 Plat form Work Directive
indirectly addresses AI-driven risks by requiring digital platforms to assess the mental and
physical health implications of algorith mic management. Similarly, the 2023 Communication on a
Comprehensive Approach to Mental Health underscores the need to integrate mental well being into
all policy areas, including labor. However, the cornerstone of EU occupational safety and health
law - the Framework Directive 89/391/EEC
- fails to explicitly regulate psychosocial risks, highlighting the insufficien cy of current
protections. In response, some Member States have introduced the right to disconnect, seeking to
mitigate the adverse effects of "always-on'' work cultures.
Younger generations, notably Generation Z, are increasingly responding through phenomena such as
"quiet quitting" signaling a demand for holistic, rights-based frameworks that bridge law,
organizational science, and psychol ogy. To address these challenges, labor law must expand its
focus to include human rights and workplace ethics adopting a due diligence approach that
integrates legal, organizational, and societal dimensions. This perspective aligns with Dworkin's
conception of justice positioning the protection of mental health in AI-driven workplaces as a
fundamental matter of justice
Gender Balanced Parenting Support: Fathers’ Perceptions of Healthcare System Support
Research shows that father involvement contributes to child development, the quality of maternal parenting, and the overall functioning of the family. However, there remains a significant gap between the guidance offered by scientific research for better child-rearing practices and the practical support available to fathers, especially within institutional systems such as healthcare. The healthcare system, in particular, plays a pivotal role from the earliest days of parenthood, offering very important opportunities to support both mothers and fathers in their caregiving roles.
This study aims to describe fathers' experiences with the support they receive from the healthcare. The study involved 367 fathers (M = 37 years; average age of the oldest child 58 months). The majority of fathers are employed (94.8%) and had at least a secondary education (42.2%). Findings suggest that healthcare professionals are rarely recognized as significant sources of parenting support. During pregnancy monitoring, fathers are almost never invited to check-ups, and discussions about the baby’s development and the father’s role are largely absent. Although pediatricians invite fathers more frequently, still about 50% of fathers report that they have never been invited to pediatric consultations (healthy baby check-ups)
