Generational Divide in AI Adoption for Academic Writing: Evidence From Serbian Social Scientists
This cross-sectional study examines a generational divide in the adoption of AI for academic writing among academic researchers in Serbia. A survey of 823 social scientists analyzed usage patterns and measured age-related adoption rates through logistic regression analysis. The findings indicate that 27.2% of researchers employ AI for academic writing, with adoption rates varying significantly by age: 42.9% of researchers in their twenties use these tools, compared to 14.3% of those in their sixties. Researchers aged 23–34 were twice as likely to adopt AI writing tools as those aged 49–80. Each additional year of age reduced the odds of AI adoption by 3.8%, even when controlled for academic title, sex, and workplace type. This age effect persisted while gender and institutional context showed no significant association with adoption. The significant variation in AI adoption across age groups suggests potential shifts in academia. Senior faculty who avoid AI writing tools cannot effectively mentor graduate students who rely on them. Manuscripts now face inconsistent peer review standards; reviewers familiar with AI-assisted writing apply different criteria than those who reject it entirely. Universities face competing demands: junior researchers insist AI tools help them publish enough to secure tenure, yet senior faculty argue that students who depend on these tools never learn to construct arguments or evaluate evidence independently
Care of women during labor and the postpartum period: is it adequate?
Every woman deserves a positive childbirth experience, which includes
several essential rights: respect and dignity, the presence of a chosen companion, clear
communication from maternity staff, pain relief options, and the ability to move and choose
labor and birth positions. While clinical management of labor and childbirth is well
understood, there is often insufficient focus on ensuring that women feel safe,
comfortable, and positive about their experience.
Maternal health reflects broader socioeconomic disparities, with significant
differences between rich and poor populations. The World Health Organization (WHO) emphasizes that
a positive childbirth experience should align with a woman’s personal and sociocultural beliefs and
expectations in all settings. However, research reveals varied experiences of care during
labor, birth, and the postpartum period. Key issues under review include decision-making
about the mode of birth, voluntariness in choosing the birth method, the flow of information and
communication with pregnant women (especially in high-risk pregnancies), informed consent
and autonomy, postnatal care, respect for cultural differences, and the
prevention of disrespect and abuse
Application of Artificial Intelligence in the Capital Market – Legal Frameworks, Risk Management, and Regulatory Approaches
Artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly reshaped capital markets through its deployment
in algorithmic trading, portfolio management, ris assessment, market surveillance, predictive
analytics, and regulatory compli ance mechanisms. Hence, the impact of the application o_f
artificial intelligence on international capital markets has notably transformed the legal
landscape, introducing new opportunities and challenges for regulators, market par ticipants,
and governments. However, the proliferation of AI technologies within capital markets also gives
rise to a range oflegal, ethical, and system ic challenges. These include concerns related to
algorithmic accountability transparency, regulatory ambiguity, data bias, investor vulnerability,
mar ket integrity and stability, and potential systemic risk. These risks require rigorous
supervision, robust governance frameworks, and appropriate regu latory intervention to mitigate
potential financial instability and ensure the fair and lawful artificial intelligence
application. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and implement comprehensive regulatory
frameworks to ensure market integrity, investor protection and financial stability. Regulatory au
thorities across jurisdictions are implementing AI governance frameworks, balancing innovation with
market stability. These regulatory measures show regional differences, with certain jurisdictions
adopting technology-neutral approaches, while others formulate AI-specific policies aimed at
mitigating new financial risks. A comparative and normative analysis of the existing legal
framework governing the application of artificial intelligence in capital mar kets will provide an
adequate basis for a critical assessment and analysis of the relevant regulatory provisions in
Serbia related to this area. Hence, the aim of this paper is to examine the principal use cases of
arti ficial intelligence in capital markets, analyzes the associated legal and operational risks,

The impact of the external factors on the profitability of the banking sector in Serbia
The aim of the paper is to determine whether the measures of the National
Bank of Serbia (NBS) contributed to the profitability of the Serbian banking
sector before and during the crisis caused by two external shocks, the
COVID-19 pandemic and the energy crisis triggered by the Russian-
Ukrainian conflict. Profitability was analyzed for the whole Serbian banking
sector in the period 2019- 3Q2024, using following ratios as a measure of
profitability: return on assets (ROA), return on equity (ROE), net interest
gain to total revenue, net fees and commissions gain to total revenue (
net fees and commissions income ratio), and net pre-tax profit/loss to
total revenue ratio (net pre-tax profit margin), comparing and explaining
changes in growth during the observed period. Additionally, to improve
research, the Capital adequacy ratio (CAR) and non-performing loans
rate (NPL) are included in the analysis, and results show their significant
impact on profitability. NLP rate is 2.7% at the end of the period, while
CAR is 21.9%, and both values refer to the good quality of the credit
portfolio. Results of research showed that the profitability is high with
the tendency to grow in the future as well, because external shocks were
successfully amortized and profitability increased significantly at the end
of the observed period compared to 2019 as a reference year before the
beginning of the crisis, which indicates stable bank operations, good cost
control and successful credit risk management
Serbia’s contemporary multi-vector foreign policy and its economic implications
The interplay between Serbia’s multi-vector foreign policy and
economic results is the primary research subject of this article. It
is explored by observing the connection between Serbia’s political
cooperation with its four main strategic partners (the European
Union, the United States of America, the Russian Federation and
the People’s Republic of China) and the economic outcomes
achieved in cooperation with these countries. The authors
employ descriptive statistical and case study analysis to
investigate whether four macroeconomic parameters—trade,
foreign direct investment, loans, and grants—have been
influenced by foreign policy. The analysis indicates that Serbia’s
foreign policy orientation is significantly correlated with economic
performance. The primary economic parameters linked to
political influence are loans and grants. Other aspects of
economic performance, such as trade and foreign direct
investments, are less affected by political cooperatio
The importance of environmental sustainability in hotel operations: a case study of hotel "Iver"
The implementation of ecological principles in hotel operations brings numerous benefits
by reducing the negative impacts of business activities and enhancing the positive effects of tourism
on the local environment. This paper highlights the importance of environmental sustainability in
hotel management, with Hotel "Iver" serving as a case study. Located near the Mokra Gora Nature
Park, Hotel "Iver" represents an example of good practice in developing environmentally sustainable
operations. A survey conducted among the hotel's employees examines the ecological aspects of hotel
operations within the Mokra Gora area. While there is clear potential, additional measures and the
adoption of various ecological principles and standards are necessary to fully develop sustainable
tourism practices within the hotel industry, with the ultimate goal of protecting the environment
