Prevremeni mortalitet u Srbiji: uticaj aerozagađenja i pandemije COVID-19
U radu
istraživanje, informiše i edukuje šira javnost
Contraceptive Use and Reproductive Intensions among Femail Students at the University of Novi Sad
Formation of a new global geopolitical and geoeconomic balance
While in the past the power of states was based on the control of land or oceans, today it is defined by controlling the flow of people, goods, money and data, and the connections that these flows create. The new geopolitical map is a consequence of the success of the great powers in controlling the mentioned terrains of power. Key areas of power are: economy, technology, potential for future climate change, population, military, health capabilities, and cultural dominance. Along the military potential and the size of the population, the most important spheres are economics and technology. In this regard, global business is increasingly made up of companies based in China, where, together with the US, as many as 76 of the 100 the world’s most valuable companies are located. If we compare the share of the US and China in world GDP with their share in business activities, America accounts for 24% of global GDP and 48% of global business activity, with China being convincingly second with 18% of world GDP and a fifth of global business activities. Firms from the two countries also dominate new technologies such as fintech and electric cars, with huge domestic markets helping those companies in achieving economies of scale. The new reality seems to define the global economy: the (hostile) takeover of the international economy by geopolitics, although the main battlefield on which the great powers compete is not military, but economic. In the emerging geo-economic era, many countries are putting the economy at the center of their strategy. Market power in some areas - such as 5G, semiconductors, rare earths, quantum computing and payment systems - is critical, as is control of data flows and digital services. While the former global order was in some ways symbolically reflected by the influence of the G7, the new atlas of power can be associated with a world dominated by a different group of great powers, with China moving towards a pedestal. In this “new world”, a great power can build its influence through the ability to define regulations and set standards, via control over financial or energy flows, through the ability to influence political processes, or even its capability to build social media platforms or sets search engine standards. There has been a dramatic change in the very nature of power and the ways in which it changes and moves. Consequently, in the post-Cold War era, we are in a state without a formal war, but certainly not peace
Tranzicija i identitet društva u Srbiji
preusmerena konceptom posthumanizma. U međuvremenu, pripisujući
ekološke štete tzv. „dobu čoveka”, antropocen postaje okvir narativa
koji ljudsku vrstu označava kao neodrživu pojavu. Okrivljena je „ljudska
priroda” premda je modernizacija tehnologije uvek podređivala ljudske
vrednosti bezdušnoj ekonomiji profita i kontrole.
The importance of creative industry for the economic development of the Republic of Serbia
Creative economy is one of the world’s most rapidly growing sectors, contributing 3% of the global
GDP. Based on creativity and innovation as the main factors, creative and cultural industries
include different fields of activity. By their nature, they are interdisciplinary and provide great
potential for social and economic development. Improving the growth and development of creative
industry can significantly contribute to the economic development of a country, especially in countries with rich cultural and historical heritage, such as Serbia. The aim of the paper is to
determine the sig- nificance of the Serbian creative industry sector considering its contribution
to GDP, employment and export. Results of the analysis showed that in 2021 creative industries
contributed to 7.1% of GDP, achieving faster growth than other economic activities. Also, the
average salary in the crea- tive industry sector is higher compared to the average salary in
Serbia. Since 2019, there has been a noticeable increase in the deficit in foreign trade exchates that it is necessary to
take systemic measures in order to improve this sector
Niske stope rađanja i rodne uloge : teorijski okvir i praktični izazovi
U centru takvih reagovanja jesu pojedinac, porodica i kvalitet uslova života. Rodni odnos predstavlja bitan segment celovitog odgovora na nizak fertilitet
Hybrid Election Management Methods During the Covid-19 Crisis
This paper is based on qualitative secondary data analysis to provide more comprehensive insights into innovative electoral policy choices of election management bodies (EMBs), faced with multiple challenges of COVID-19 to different aspects of organisation of electoral cycle: its regulatory, operational, and procedural framework to ensure safe voting environment, voter participation and democratic legitimacy. Various COVID-19 related arrangements are reviewed: health safety measures and more extensive use of already existing special voting arrangements (SVAs) – early, postal, mobile or proxy voting and possibilities for online voting in the future. Strengths and weaknesses, costs and benefits of these hybrid voting methods are compared. Conclusion of this analysis is that the traditional preference of EMBs for in-person, in-polling station voting with low-tech paper ballots remains unchanged by COVID-19. There was not enough time, resources and political incentive of decision-makers to introduce innovative or high-tech online SVAs. Analysis shows that postponement of elections during pandemic challenges institutional stability and should not be regarded as an example of future good practice. Decreased or inadequately high voter turnout during COVID-19 was registered as a significant threat to democratic legitimacy and to resilience of democracy. Necessity for strategic contingency planning of electoral cycle is confirmed and recommended
