Possibilities of Russian investment in spa centres
Apart from the treatment and psychophysical recovery of the users, the vital
importance of the spa centers of Republika Srpska and Serbia as a form of tourist offer is
reflected in their functioning throughout the year, unlike other forms of touristic offer. Based
on previously conducted research, official statistics, and available adequate literature, as well
as the excellent quality and quantity of thermal mineral waters in the spa centers of Republika
Srpska and Serbia, the authors intend to point out the possibilities and the need for Russian
investment in spa centers in the Republika Srpska and Serbia. Together with the intangible
and material values of rich cultural heritage, primarily monasteries, spa centers can be the
crown of the tourist offer focused exclusively on the Russian market, and the locomotive of
economic development. According to the official statistical data of Rosstat, 30% of the
inhabitants of Russia travel outside the borders of the country for vacation (43.8 million) and
every tenth would like to come to the RS (4.38 million), with their minimum spending of 100
euros, Republika Srpska would generate revenue of 438 million euros. The government of
Republika Srpska should allow Russian citizens to pay in rubles, and the status of the Russian
ruble should be the same as the Serbian dinar. While spas with medicinal waters are
dominantly in the Banja Luka region and Eastern RS, Herzegovina has exceptional "spiritual
spas", birthplaces of St. Vasilij Ostroski, St. Sava, and Herzegovinian Serb poet-diplomat and
academic Jovan Ducic. There are also monasteries Zavala, Tvrdos, Peter and Paul Monastery,
and Kosierevo
Monitoring the Environmental Impact of Majdanpek Open Mine Using Machine Learning and Gis
After several decades of open pit and underground mining near city of Majdanpek, the environment gave its response to the stresses caused by this human activity. The increasing need for minerals and profits leads to the expansion of mining, endangering not only the biomes that are in the immediate surrounding area of the mines, but also has an impact on the wider ecosystem, especially on surface and ground water. To quantify, comprehend, and mitigate the harmful impacts of the mineral’s extraction from the Earth’s crust, it is required to conduct continuous monitoring of the areas where these operations take place. Considering the large number of factors that obstruct the immediate monitoring of such areas, the solution is reflected in the use of remote detection products that provide relatively fast and precise data on remote areas that are difficult to access. Using medium-resolution satellite images (15 and 10 m spatial resolution) for different time periods (1999 and 2022), land cover maps are created. Prior to automatic classification of satellite images process, five classes were defined to be classified using a machine learning algorithm. After land cover classes determination, a map of the study area is created showing five classes: water, forest, pastures, agricultural areas, and urban environment.
The position of the open part of the mine was determined which enables the possibility to monitor the expansion of the open mine pit and position of the pollutant. The second analysis considers the use of a medium-resolution (30m spatial resolution) digital terrain model (DTM). The Geographical Information System (GIS) made possible to perform analyzes that determine the watersheds around the detected open mine pit that is marked as a pollutant. After determining the watersheds, river network analysis is performed and zones with potentially polluted watercourses are marked. Thus, environmental data is collected, which makes the decision-making process much easier for decision-makers and determining the limits of economic and ecological sustainability for the area of interest

Trump, Johnson and New Primitivism - The Manifestations and Causes of Major Crisis in the USA and the UK
Over the past few decades, major changes have taken place in the two most influential Western countries – the USA and the UK. These changes found political expression in Trump’s presidential victory and the triumph of Brexit in 2016. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the changed political reality in these states and explain its causes. In the first part, the author provides a theoretical framework and discusses the old and new categories to provide explanation for the changes in these states. In the second part, he analyzes the main changes in political life in the USA and UK embodied in Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In the third part, he points to the basic causes of the crisis in the USA and UK that led to Donald Trump’s victory in 2016 and UK’s withdrawal from the EU. The countries that were beacons of civilized dialogue among political opponents now harbor growing intolerance, lack of accountability and ruthless mudslinging campaigns against political opponents. The radicalization of political life in the USA culminated in former President Trump’s supporters storming the Congress which left five people dead. In the second most influential state of the Western world, during the pro- remain or pro-leave the EU campaign, a British MP was killed while the politicians were stoking fears of impending wars, genocide and even invoked the politics dating back to Hitler and Napoleon. The policy of exclusiveness pursued by Trump and Brexiteers brought about the social polarization in the USA and the UK unprecedented since the Second World War. The author proceeds from a hypothesis that deep social and ethnic divisions, rising poverty, less access to higher education for broader social strata, lack of trust in democratic and supranational institutions, obsession with one’s own cultural identity, fear of large-scale immigration and domination of reality culture set the stage for the changes in political life in these countries, making it possible for Trump and Brexit to prevail. The paper provides a critical analysis of previous attempts to account for the victory of Trump and Brexit, particularly the theory of cultural backlash by which US political analysts Norris and Inglehart explain the rise of authoritarian populism in the USA and the UK. The author is of the view that following Biden’s presidential victory in 2020 the situation in the USA will not change significantly since it is not just the politicians that create the political environment but rather the social and economic situation which has deteriorated even further in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The UK has managed to avoid significant radicalization in political life since the divisions over Brexit did not follow partisan and ideological lines as was the case in the USA
Decade of population changes in Europe and Serbia (2011 - 2020)
The period 2011 - 2020 was full of challenges that shook the slow demographic trends. The impact of the global economic crisis, war conflicts, and pandemics has been remarkable on population dynamics around the world, especially in Europe. The main goal of this paper is analysis of basic demographic indicators of births, deaths, migrations, as well as age structure and changes in the total population in Europe and Serbia. Fertility continues to decline in most countries. Only Eastern European countries have a positive trend, while the lowest values are in the countries of the southern part of Europe. Serbia belongs to a smaller group of countries that have recorded a modest increase. The trend of increasing life expectancy in Europe stops abruptly in the year of the pandemic (2020) and returns to the level of 2013. The situation in Serbia was even more unfavorable than the European average. The migrant crisis in Europe, starting in 2015, is culminating with inflows of between 2.4 and 2.7 million migrants annually. Germany, Spain, France and Italy have the highest inflows. Half of the migrants are under 30 years old. In Serbia, the trend of emigration has continued, and depending on estimates, the negative annual migration balance amounts to 15 to 20 thousand people. Demographic aging of the population continues in most European countries. The population of Serbia has been one of the oldest in Europe and the world for many years, and the process in the period 2011-2020, compared to other European countries, is of moderate intensity. Half of the analyzed European countries have a negative natural increase, which will be an introduction to depopulation for many in the coming period. The forecast for Serbia is that the next census will show that the population of Serbia has decreased to the level of 60 years ago
