Disjunktura, liminalnost i agensnost u istraživanjima tranzicije

    No full text

Young people’s perception of old age and elderly people: Attitudes of Novi Sad university students

    Get PDF
The paper presents the findings of a study that included 29 graduate year students of the Faculties of Sciences (Geography Department), Law and Medicine of the University of Novi Sad. Three focus groups discussed the students’ perception of elderly people and their first associations with old age. They were also asked whether they were aware of the life characteristics when it comes to the Third age and to explore their personal experiences with the elderly, as well as the young men and women’s thoughts of their own ageing and of themselves as old people. The students’ responses indicated that most of them had romantic visions of their own old age and, at the same time, multiple negative stereotypes and prejudices about the elderly people around them, whom they rarely supported. It is, therefore, important to promote understanding between youth and the elderly in an ageing society, as it is the case in Vojvodina and Serbia overall

    Get PDF
Globalni trend vodi ka tome da naučna delatnost postaje nesiguran, slabo plaćen, a time i manje poželjan posao. Sama naučnoistraživačka aktivnost doživljava krizu koju je proizveo novi sistem upravljanja koji promoviše efikasnu, primenljivu i merljivu naučnu aktivnost, što je rezultiralo hiperproliferacijom naučnih radova i akademski nečasnim ponašanjem. Nekadašnje ključne odlike rada u nauci – stabilnost zaposlenja, naučna autonomija i fleksibilnost rada – ustupaju mesto neizvesnom radnom statusu i ograničenoj slobodi stvaranja. Srbija pokazuje naznake ovih procesa, ali još uvek natprosečan nivo materijalnog položaja (u kontekstu Srbije) i stabilnost posla čine profesiju naučnika poželjnom. Nedavna istraživanja pokazuju, da uprkos nepovoljnim promenama u statusu naučne profesije i uslovima rada, zaposleni u nauci ostaju u ovom sektoru i prepoznaju vrednost bavljenja naukom.

Legal consequences of climate change on redefining the capital market: Can capital market contribute to transition to a low carbon economy?

    Get PDF
Climate change is one of the main initiators of changes in the legal, regulatory, economic, social and environmental systems of states, given that the consequences of changing natural conditions affect global, regional and national economic development, as well as quality of life. Can capital market contribute to climate change mitigation, by transition to a low carbon economy? By applying the normative and comparative method, the author points out how the legal and regulatory framework can encourage capital markets to play a key role in raising and redirecting free capital in order to solve the problem of climate change. In this regard, climate (green) financial instruments created for investing in environmental protection projects and climate change mitigation are analyzed. Considering the tendencies in the global capital market, the author concluded that there are numerous legal obstacles that impede the more intensive contribution of the capital market in the fight against climate change

Višeslojna priroda depopulacije u Srbiji – noviji trendovi i izgledi

    Get PDF
Veliki gradovi će i dalje rasti, a regionalni demografski i društveni razvoj biće sve neujednačeniji. Pored velikih ekonomskih nejednakosti, postoje i razlike u regionalnom indeksu ljudskog razvoja. Dok je Beogradska oblast na nivou Poljske, ostatak Srbije je na nivou regiona i zemalja Srednje i Južne Amerike, Bliskog istoka i Severne Afrike. U nekim oblastima vrednost indeksa je posledica niskog stepena obrazovanja (npr. Braničevska oblast), dobrih zdravstvenih izgleda (npr. Zlatiborska oblasti) ili visokog BDP-a (npr. Borska oblast). Slično tome, postoje i regionalne razlike u fertilitetu. Srbija je nalik razuđenom arhipelagu – pojedini delovi Srbije imaju različite demografske izazove i zato je potrebno razvijati politike koje će odgovarati na konkretne regionalne i lokalne probleme. Njihov krajnji cilj treba da bude podsticanje fertiliteta i razvoj ljudskog kapitala, a ključni preduslov za pozitivne demografske promene predstavlja smanjivanje regionalnih razlika. Bez toga Srbija neće moći da postigne ujednačeni demografski razvoj

The COVID-19 Vaccines as Extension of Foreign Policies by Other Means

    Get PDF
Existing knowledge of the geopolitics of public health and the coronavirus pandemic indicates that states, particularly the most powerful ones (the United States, China, Russia), have used the current global crisis to strengthen their influence worldwide, in line with their geopolitical, economic, and military aspirations. Geopoliticisation of the COVID-19 vaccines have not been explored so far. Based on the qualitative analysis of the media content and statistics on the vaccines’ distribution, this article makes two arguments. First, these vaccines have become an extension of foreign policy by other means. Second, geopoliticisation of the distribution of vaccine contributes to an instrumentalisation of the pandemic, raising global insecurity and the destabilisation of states and economies on the periphery and semi-periphery. Due to this new Cold War between the ‘vaccine superpowers’, the world has become divided into Western and the Eastern ‘vaccine-blocs’. Within this context, the chances for multilateral cooperation to counter global threats are on a downward trajectory

Deforestation as a cause of increased surface runoff in the catchment: Remote Sensing and SWAT approach - A case study of southern Serbia

    Get PDF
In the past two decades, the South part of Serbia has been affected by exploitive and illegal logging. As this trend is not decreasing to this day, there is a need to determine the area where this logging occurred precisely. The consequences of these actions are tremendous, causing the forest owners’ financial loss (regardless of whether it is private or state property) and a negative impact on the environment. Significant environmental and forest management problems deriving from these actions are erosion increase and more frequent torrential floods occurrence in the catchment. Since it is difficult to update the national forest inventories in remote areas, remote sensing techniques using different satellite imagery types can provide up-to-date data. The initial analysis that employed Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (created using Landsat 7 and Landsat 8 imagery) indicates massive deforestation in the research area between 1999 and 2021. Headwaters of the Štavska river catchment is selected as the research area to determine the amount of erosion in two periods—before and after deforestation occurred. Change in land cover (LC) is presented with two LC maps created applying supervised classification to Landsat 7 imagery from 1999 as a pre-deforestation LC state and Landsat 8 imagery acquired in 2021 as the current LC state. The erosion in the catchment for both periods is determined using the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). The analysis results show the erosion change incurred as a deforestation effect in the river catchment. With the data obtained by remote sensing and SWAT analysis, it is possible to track changes in the area and acquire essential data, making the right and fast decisions to protect the natural resources economy and make sustainable development possible in this impoverished region

The Irresistible Ease of Making an Index. What We Learn from NGI?

    Get PDF
There is a number of indices measuring globalization processes. Started with OECD/Eurostat, (the OECD`s glossary from 2002 is defining globalization as increasing internationalization of markets for goods and services, the means of production, financial systems, competition, corporations, technology and industries) , the phenomenon inspired other intellectual circles. AT Kearny composite index is measuring the economic globalization, political and social). This project was followed by KOF Index , whose main author is Axel Dreher (Dreher et al, 2010) who identified the difference between the extent of the process within small and big countries. Main components are including economic globalization, political globalization and the flow of information and people. MGI (Maastricht Globalization Index), which followed the process of globalization indices creation, is focusing on four dimensions: technological, ecological. economic, and socio-cultural (Figge at Martens, 2016) That was for the first time that the eco dimension became a part of the globalization index. The NGI, created as an individual intellectual product of P. Vujakovic , added a new approach distinguishing the countries which are mostly trading and having social relations with their first neighbors and those who have relations worldwide (concerning them fully globalized). But , the problem of globalization is bringing a number of new consideration , having in mind the role of ICT , the digital “nomads” , or , the opposite processes , now stronger then before, of new protectionism. The paper is focusing on the contribution of the New Globalization Index in understanding the results and effects of the globalization process in Serbia. The analyses shows that the indices as the NGI and the other could be successfully used in the economic researches, thanks to their transparent way of identification of the results based on quantitative methodology that is used. It is important to underline that the process is going on supplying the research community with new improvements of these products or replacing them with more sophisticated once

Moderatorska uloga magijskih i konspirativnih verovanja u povezanosti između opaženog stresa i indikatora opšteg blagostanja

    No full text
U ovom istraživanju, ispitivana je moderatorska uloga, zasebno magijskih, te zasebno konspirativnih uverenja u vezi COVID-19 pandemije (Magical and conspiracy-based COVID-19 beliefs; Pennycock et al., 2020).
