Affording autistic persons epistemic justice
Autism is a psychopathological condition around which there is still
much prej pancy between third-person and first-per-
son accounts of autistic behavior creates a chasm between autistic and neurotypi- cal
(non-autistic) people. Epistemic injustice suffered by these individuals is great, and a fruitful
strategy out of this predicament is much needed. I will propose that through the appropriation
and implementation of methods and concepts from phenomenology and ecological-enactive
cognitive science, we can acquire power- ful tools to work towards greater epistemic justice for
autistic individuals. I will use the resources found in the skilled intentionality framework,
integrated with various phenomenological theories. From these approaches, we can view autistic
impairments and disability relationally and how epistemic enablement and dis- ablement form.
Phenomenology and its methods help us learn more about the perceptual and social experiences of
autistic individuals. The voices of the autis- tics themselves will be of the greatest importance
here. I will show that, through restructuring our landscape of affordances and with a greater
phenomenological understanding of the autistic inner world, we can de tegies
that afford
greater epistemic enablement and epistemic justice
Silencing the Voices: Finding Conversas in the Inquisitorial Records
The past decades have generated much discussion by archivists and
historians surrounding the claim that archives and written documents on women’s lives
cannot be examined separately since archives play crucial roles within the conceptual
framework of women’s history. By researching women’s experiences preserved in archives, it has been demonstrated that their voices were frequently obscured within archival data. In order to reconstruct the lives of women in history, this paper will attempt to
address quantitative, qualitative and methodological challenges that arise when power
silences the voices of Judeo-Conversas (Christian women of Jewish origin) from the
early modern crowns of Castile and Aragon. By unearthing Conversas’ religious experiences from written sources, mainly inquisitorial dossiers, and by applying theoretical
framework defined by Michel-Rolph Trouillot, the author suggests that Conversas’ voices were silenced at four stages: first, when the sources were written; second, when
these documents were assembled; third, when narratives were created; and finally, when
history was written by historians
Social and moral psychology of COVID-19 across 69 countries
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all domains of human life, including the economic and social fabric of societies. One of the central strategies for managing public health throughout the pandemic has been through persuasive messaging and collective behaviour change. To help scholars better understand the social and moral psychology behind public health behaviour, we present a dataset comprising of 51,404 individuals from 69 countries. This dataset was collected for the International Collaboration on Social & Moral Psychology of COVID-19 project (ICSMP COVID-19). This social science survey invited participants around the world to complete a series of moral and psychological measures and public health attitudes about COVID-19 during an early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic (between April and June 2020). The survey included seven broad categories of questions: COVID-19 beliefs and compliance behaviours; identity and social attitudes; ideology; health and well-being; moral beliefs and motivation; personality traits; and demographic variables. We report both raw and cleaned data, along with all survey materials, data visualisations, and psychometric evaluations of key variables
cijepljenje u kontekstu pandemije COVID-19 (Farhart i sur., 2021).
(Seddig i sur., 2022). Uzorak čini 803 mladih ispitanika iz Srbije, od 15 do 24 godine (M = 18.24;
SD = 2.669), sa 474 ženskih ispitanika (59.8 %). Hijerarhijskom regresijskom analizom, dobiva
se da je model značajan u prvom bloku (R2 = .524, F (2, 788) = 434.229, p < .001), gdje je
konspirativno mišljenje negativno povezano (β = -.152, p < .001), a subjektivne norme
Dakle, uloga
subjektivnih normi je manja u uvjetima visokih konspirativnih uvjerenja, nego u uvjetima
niskih konspirativnih uvjerenja. Teorijske i praktične implikacije istraživanja će biti diskutirane
Screening the Older for Abuse
Many countries are developing instruments to help prevent and recognize violence against the older. In the area of older abuse and its consequences, different screening methods have been developed and adapted to the country in which they are applied. Professionals are often not trained to detect signs of abuse, much less screen for the same, and therefore need continuous training in geriatrics and geriatric medicine. In order to draw attention to the older in the near future, specific measures should be prescribed not only within the framework of current legal regulations and bylaws, but also through guidelines, guides and other professional documents (soft-law), to be taken by state bodies, non-governmental organizations and other actors, for the purpose of screening violence, prevention of violence against the older, treatment of the older who have been subjected to violence and measures against its perpetrators, including forensics in cases of violence against the older. Instruments for organized screening for violence should be introduced in all sectors, but especially in the health and social care sectors, because primary health care and social work centers, in fact, are the gateway to the health and social system and make initial contact with service users, including the older
