SEMANTIC SEGMENTATION OF ALGAL BLOOMS ON THE OCEAN SURFACE USING SENTINEL 3 CHL_NN BAND IMAGERY
Get PDFSatellite imagery plays an important role in detecting algal blooms because of its ability to cover larger geographical regions. Excess growth of Sea surface algae, characterized by the presence of Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a), is considered to be harmful. The detection of algal growth at an earlier stage may prevent hazardous effects on the aquatic environment. Semantic segmentation of algal blooms is helpful in the quantization of algal blooms. A rule-based semantic segmentation approach for the segregation of sea surface algal blooms is proposed. Bloom concentrations are classified into three different concentrations, namely, low, medium, and high. The chl_nn band in the Sentinel-3 satellite images is used for experimentation. The chl_nn band has exclusive details of the presence of chlorophyll concentrations. A dataset is proposed for the semantic segmentation of algal blooms. The devised rule-based semantic segmentation approach has produced an average accuracy of 98%. A set of 100 images is randomly selected for testing. The tests are repeated on 5 different image sets. The results are validated by the pixel comparison method. The proposed work is compared with other relevant works. The Arabian Sea near the coastal districts of Udupi and Mangaluru has been considered as the area of study. No full textOne of the important issues in the process of real estate expropriation is defining the group of entities entitled to compensation. This arises from the undetermined legal status of properties, limited rights in rem, claims by banks and bailiffs, and the lack of inheritance proceedings determining the current circle of owners. Another difficulty is the lack of precise legal norms and inconsistent jurisprudence. The aim of the study is to identify the problems related to determining the group of entities entitled to compensation for real estate expropriated by law based on the decision granting permission for the implementation of a road investment. The research thesis is that the legal norms regulating compensation need to be supplemented to streamline and standardise the processes of determining compensation for real estate expropriated for road investments.Jednym z istotnych zagadnień w procesie wywłaszczenia nieruchomości jest określenie grupy podmiotów uprawnionych do odszkodowania. Wynika to z nieokreślonego statusu prawnego nieruchomości, ograniczonych praw rzeczowych, roszczeń banków i komorników oraz braku postępowań spadkowych, które określają obecny krąg właścicieli. Kolejną trudnością jest brak precyzyjnych norm prawnych i niespójne orzecznictwo. Celem badania jest identyfikacja problemów związanych z określeniem grupy podmiotów uprawnionych do odszkodowania za wywłaszczoną na mocy prawa nieruchomość na podstawie decyzji zezwalającej na realizację inwestycji drogowej. Get PDFModern complex production requires approaches to improving production systems that create a comprehensive understanding of process-equipment-product interactions along the technological process chain, rather than focusing solely on individual processes. Any production system consists of separate but interconnected elements arranged in a certain sequence: reserve, workstation, operation workstation, working process. This document proposes an approach to support and improve the production system using these elements and establishing connections between them and their parameters. This allows process models of various complexities to be constructed, laying the groundwork for improving the production system. The article discusses the process of building a simulation model of a production system – a machining department for manufacturing semi-finished products from metal rods. In the model, each element of the production system is graphically represented, allowing the use of a flowchart for simulation modeling. The purpose of developing the simulation model is to optimize the operation of the machining department by identifying those workstations in the technological process where the longest idle time is observed during operations and optimizing the structure of the department. Additionally, this approach has been tested and implemented based on the scenario of using the simulation model in mechanical engineering production.Nowoczesna złożona produkcja wymaga takiego podejścia do doskonalenia systemów produkcyjnych, które tworzy holistyczne spojrzenie i zrozumienie interakcji proces-urządzenie-produkt w łańcuchu technologicznym procesu, zamiast skupiać się wyłącznie na poszczególnych procesach. Każdy system produkcyjny składa się z oddzielnych, ale połączonych ze sobą pewną sekwencją elementów: rezerwy, miejsca pracy, funkcjonowanie miejsca pracy, proces pracy. W artykule zaproponowano podejście do utrzymania i doskonalenia systemu produkcyjnego z wykorzystaniem tych elementów oraz ustalenia zależności pomiędzy nimi a ich parametrami. Pozwala to na konstruowanie modeli procesów o różnej złożoności, tworząc podstawy do doskonalenia systemu produkcyjnego. Rozpatrzono proces budowy modelu symulacyjnego systemu produkcyjnego – miejsca zaopatrzenia w produkcję półproduktów z prętów metalowych. W modelu każdy element systemu produkcyjnego jest reprezentowany graficznie, co pozwala na wykorzystanie schematu blokowego do modelowania symulacyjnego. Celem opracowania modelu symulacyjnego jest optymalizacja działania wydziału obróbki skrawaniem poprzez identyfikację tych stanowisk pracy w procesie technologicznym, na których obserwuje się najdłuższy czas przestoju podczas operacji oraz optymalizację struktury wydziału. Dodatkowo podejście to zostało przetestowane i wdrożone w oparciu o scenariusz wykorzystania modelu symulacyjnego w produkcji inżynierii mechanicznej

The choice was between the open source locally running Home Assistant system and the cloud-based Google Home solution. The first addressed the response time of end devices to perform an action in the smart home management system. Investigating the impact of microservice-oriented platform configurations on application performance
Get PDFEffective management of containerized applications is crucial to ensuring their performance and reliability. The aim of this work was to indicate which configuration settings of the Kubernetes orchestrator have the greatest impact on microservice application performance under conditions of increased load. For each of the established configuration variants, the throughput and response time of the test application based on the microservices paradigm were measured. Research findings indicate that excessive horizontal scaling degrades application performance and that memory usage settings may play a greater role in optimizing system performance than CPU usage

No full textIn the reality of private properties embedded in a free market economy, the very fact of providing an administrative protection to the building of special value can be problematic. The possibilities of challenging and revoking such decisions are often used by property owners. Conflicts between the conservator – a state administration official trying to provide legal protection to a monument – and the owner – an investor who pushes to achieve the intended investment goal regardless of the cultural value of the place – are extremely strong.
It is worth noting, however, that according to the provisions of Article 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, the direct stakeholder of the preservation of the cultural heritage is the entire society. Therefore, it is worth analysing whether public opinion is considered during conflict situations related to the protection of built heritage.
To this end, a case study was conducted, that considered a conflict situation occurring during the procedure of entering the former tender building (roundhouse) into the Register of Immovable Monuments of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.Wobec prywatnych własności osadzonych w gospodarce wolnorynkowej już sam fakt objęcia ochroną obiektu o szczególnych wartościach bywa kłopotliwy, a możliwości zaskarżenia i uchylenia takich decyzji często wykorzystywane są przez właścicieli nieruchomości. Niezwykle silnie zarysowują się konflikty pomiędzy konserwatorem – urzędnikiem administracji państwowej starającym się o objęcie zabytku ochroną prawną, a właścicielem – inwestorem dążącym do zrealizowania celu inwestycyjnego bez względu na kulturową wartość miejsca.
Warto jednak zwrócić uwagę, że zgodnie z zapisami Artykułu 5 Konstytucji Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej, bezpośrednim interesariuszem zachowania obiektów zabytkowych jest całe społeczeństwo. Wobec tego warto przeanalizować, czy podczas konfliktowych sytuacji związanych z ochroną zabytków architektury opinia publiczna jest brana pod uwagę?

Get PDFThe article outlines the roots of the necessity of heritage protection and describes the legal framework in which the socially essential protection of monuments and care of monuments in Poland is carried out. The role of the institution of the Public Guardian of Monuments in the polish system is presented. Based on existing research, selected challenges facing the social care of monuments are described. Based on their own experience, the authors supplemented the list of problems with remarks resulting from previous activities in social care of monuments and experience in the study of tangible heritage. The analysis of cooperation between selected institutions involved in heritage preservation in Łódź allowed to expand the catalogue of challenges. The conclusions made it possible to formulate proposals for changes that could partially respond to some of the identified problems. Moreover, it was indicated that further discussion on modifications in the heritage preservation system is necessary and its holistic and interdisciplinary character may strengthen the effectiveness of the reforms.Artykuł zarysowuje źródła potrzeby ochrony dziedzictwa i zarys ram prawnych, w których realizowana jest społecznie niezbędna ochrona zabytków oraz opieka nad zabytkami w Polsce. Przedstawiono rolę instytucji Społecznego Opiekuna Zabytków w polskim systemie. Bazując na dostępnych badaniach, opisano wybrane wyzwania, które stoją przed społeczną opieką nad zabytkami. Autorzy, na podstawie własnych doświadczeń, uzupełnili listę problemów o uwagi wynikające z dotychczasowej działalności w społecznej opiece nad zabytkami oraz doświadczenia w badaniu dziedzictwa materialnego. Przeprowadzona analiza współpracy między wybranymi instytucjami zajmującymi się ochroną zabytków w Łodzi pozwoliła poszerzyć katalog wyzwań. Wnioski pozwoliły sformułować propozycje zmian, które mogłyby częściowo odpowiadać na niektóre zidentyfikowane problemy. Wskazano ponadto, że dalsza dyskusja nad zmianami w systemie ochrony zabytków jest konieczna, a jej całościowy i interdyscyplinarny charakter może wzmocnić skuteczność reform
APPLICATION OF THERMAL IMAGING CAMERAS FOR SMARTPHONE: SEEK THERMAL COMPACT PRO AND FLIR ONE PRO FOR HUMAN STRESS DETECTION – COMPARISON AND STUDY
Get PDFThermography as an innovative diagnostic technique with non-contact temperature measurement is used in many industries – science, industry, medicine, and security. When using thermography in the field of health, images and images sequences obtained from thermal imaging cameras allow to record the temperature distribution in order to further recognize whether the state of the body is consistent with the defined parameters or whether there are deviations. However, it is worth paying attention to the measurement accuracy of thermal imaging cameras, their specification, and image quality of thermograms. In the case of recording stress states, measurement discrepancies between thermal imaging cameras for smartphone may affect the final results. Therefore, this article focuses on the comparison of the possibility of recording and detecting stress using two smartphone thermal imaging cameras: SEEK THERMAL Compact Pro and FLIR ONE Pro. The specifications of both cameras were compared. At the same time, the possibility of recording stress using smartphone thermal imaging cameras was confirmed on the basis of an exemplary study. The results of the comparison and analysis show that smartphone thermography can be a quick registration and diagnostic method in behavioral-biomedical issues
AN AUTHENTICATION METHOD BASED ON A DIOPHANTINE MODEL OF THE COIN BAG PROBLEM
No full text The article presents the so-called coin bag problem, which is modeled by linear Diophantine equations. The problem in question involves assessing the contents of a set of coins based on its weight. Since this type of problem is undecidable, a special variant of the problem was proposed for which effective problem-solving algorithms can be developed. In this paper, an original heuristic is presented (an algorithm based on problem decomposition) which allows to solve the coin bag problem in fewer steps compared to a brute force algorithm. The proposed approach was verified in a series of computational experiments. Additionally, an authentication scheme making use of the approach was proposed as an example of potential practical use
