The necessity of learning through engagement using digital comic in the EFL context becomes increasingly challenging for EFL pre-service teachers. This study investigates the experiences of 47 EFL pre-service teachers from an Islamic higher education institution in Kendari, Indonesia, in designing digital comics as a learning platform. Using a case study approach, data were collected through reflective journals and a focused group discussion after a 5-week design process. Findings show most participants held positive attitudes toward digital comics, gaining skills in using applications and websites for learning. However, they faced challenges related to technology, self-regulation, design, and pedagogy. The study highlights the effectiveness of consultation sessions and recommends incorporating digital comics into foreign language teaching media courses. This study suggests the integration of technology-oriented platforms like digital comics across all educational levels to enhance engagement and move beyond traditional teaching materials

The government's closure of Bangunsari prostitution localization had a significant impact on former prostitutes who lost their livelihoods. In this context, da'wah plays an important role in providing moral, spiritual, and practical support to help them transition to a more dignified profession. This research uses a qualitative method to explore the da'wah strategy implemented by KH Khoiron Syu'aib. Translation and Semantic Shift of Islamic Vocabulary in English Abstracts: A Corpus-Based Study at an Indonesian Islamic University

    No full text
Incorporating Nation’s vocabulary classification, this study investigates the translation and semantic shifts of Islam-related vocabulary in the abstracts of undergraduate and postgraduate theses. A corpus of 810 English and Bahasa Indonesia abstracts, sampled from a total of 1,928, was analyzed using Antwordprofiler and Antconc software. Findings indicate that translation strategies employed include phonetic alteration, pure borrowing, and one-to-one translation. Specifically, loanwords of Arabic origin were predominantly translated using pure borrowing, with some phonetic and/or orthographic modification in both Bahasa Indonesia and English. The translated vocabulary primarily consisted of Arabic-origin words with Bahasa Indonesia orthographic adaptations rather than their original Arabic forms. Additionally, semantic shifts were observed in the adoption of Islam-related Arabic vocabulary into Bahasa Indonesia. This is attributed to 1) the introduction of Quranic meanings, often differing from the common understanding of Arabic words at the time of the Quran’s revelation, and 2) modifications to accommodate the traditions of Indonesian local Muslim communities. The implications of this study highlight the need for translators to be aware of the cultural and religious contexts that influence semantic shifts. Moreover, this research underscores the importance of understanding the dynamic nature of language in the context of religious texts, which can lead to more accurate and culturally sensitive translations

HERMENEUTIKA MA’NA-CUM-MAGHZA SAHIRON SYAMSUDDIN DALAM STUDI HADITS

    No full text
The goal of this research is to evaluate Sahiron Syamsuddin's ma'na cum maghza theory of hadith studies. The data for this study, which employs a qualitative methodology and a kind of library research, was obtained from documents taken from books and scientific papers. Data for the study were gathered using documentary methods, and content analysis was used to examine them. The study's findings demonstrate that Sahiron Syamsuddin's theory of ma'na cum Maghza is a technique for interpreting hadith (hadith hermeneutics) in which a mufassir identifies the original and/or literal meaning of history as it was understood by the original audience and then develops that meaning in its (Maghza) significance for modern application. The ma'na cum maghza technique of interpretation cannot be used by just anyone. With the ma'na cum maghza approach, concrete steps in interpretation are carried out in two stages. Finding ma'na, or the text's original meaning, comes first. The maghza (importance of the verse) is determined by the second. It is crucial to teach this technique to the upcoming generation of interpreters so that contextualist interpretation instead of literal-textualist interpretation is produced

Building Tourist Loyalty Through Brand Elements: The Mediating Role of Destination Image in Demak Islamic Heritage Tourism

    No full text
This study investigates how destination brand elements influence tourist loyalty in Islamic heritage tourism, with a particular focus on the mediating role of destination image. Using Demak - a historically significant Islamic city in Indonesia - as a case study, the research examines the relationships between brand awareness, brand quality, destination image, and tourist loyalty. Data was collected through a quantitative survey of 112 tourists from seven Indonesian provinces representing diverse demographic backgrounds. The analysis employs structural equation modelling with Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) to test the hypothesized relationships. The findings reveal that destination image and brand quality significantly influence tourist loyalty, while brand awareness shows an indirect effect through destination image mediation. Notably, the study demonstrates that destination image serves as a crucial mediating factor in translating both brand awareness and brand quality into tourist loyalty. These results contribute to our understanding of brand management in religious tourism contexts and provide practical implications for destination managers seeking to enhance tourist loyalty. The study suggests that building strong destination loyalty requires not only developing quality tourism products but also cultivating a positive destination image that resonates with religious and cultural values
