The Commodification of Religion in the Maqāṣid Al-Shariah Perspective
Get PDFThis article discusses the problem of the commodification of religion in Islam, namely looking at the perspective of Islamic law on a process that directs the symbols and religious expressions of Muslims in the framework of market-based power as a commodity or business object. The theory used is the Maqashid ash-Shariah theory, to find out whether or not the objectives of sharia law are maintained in the religious practices which intersect with the economic dimension. This becomes relevant because for a Muslim the conformity with the objectives of sharia is the materialization of maslahah which is the wisdom of establishing a law in Islam. It employs a normative approach in the perspective of Maqashid jurisprudence. The results of this study indicate that in the Islamic context, there are several things that reveal the symptoms of religious commodification which are packaged in various forms of industry. Some types of industry still exist which are built with economic rationality to seek mere worldly benefits and ignore the principles of benefit. For this type of business practice, the government with its various instruments or institutions must continue to carry out sharia-compliant supervision. Meanwhile for the sharia-based business practices or industries, there is no legal issue in complying with sharia objectives there.Keywords: Commodification of religion, Maqasid al-Sharia, Islamic law, religion with economic dimensions
The Implementation of Character Education in Kalimantan, Indonesia: Multi Site Studies
Get PDFThis research was inspired by some of the realities that the author found related to the implementation of character education, especially in several regencies/cities in East Kalimantan. Apart from the author’s concern toward the case of the moral decadence of the nation's children, this should be a demand and obligation for every educator to form the character of his students. Therefore, various models and innovations began to be developed by educational units led by creative teachers starting to package character-based learning designs and innovations. This research focuses on character models developed by the school. This research is a field work research that focuses on multi-site studies. Sources of data in this study include: teachers and students in several schools are the focus of research. The research locus is spread in several regions, namely: Tarakan, Bulungan, East Kutai and Bontang. The data collection techniques that the author uses in this study include: observations, interviews and documentations. Furthermore, the findings of the research data were processed using Milles and Hubberman's interactive analysis using the data reduction flow , data display and data conclusions . Based on the findings of the research, it can be concluded that the character values developed include: religious values, creative, independent and responsible, the spirit of nationality and love for the motherland, tolerance, communication and love the environment

Banking technology is one of the services that are favored by sharia banking in the competition to attract customers. M-Banking services is one of the products being offered by sharia banking technology, providing the costumer with the highest and newest developments in technology. This goes together with the increasing demand for easier procedures.The significant development of M-Banking services in sharia banking in Indonesia helps evaluating the customers' satisfaction with a specific product. Through M-Banking SWOT analysis, it is expected that the quality of banking services can be improved. This paper aims to analyze more deeply about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) of M-Banking services of sharia banking in Indonesia.The strengths of M-Banking banking services are cost-effective, time-saving, attractive features, easy to operate, easy to download, interesting promo, Islamic content info. Weaknesses of M-Banking services in sharia banking are slow data access speed, insufficient Security, network limitations, the lack of accessibility and performance by all customers, and M-Banking functionality still under development process. The outstanding points of M-Banking of sharia banking are the development of performance, functionality and bandwidth of M-Banking server which have the potential to increase the number of customers. In conclusion, main challenges regarding M-Banking are the competition between banks, the relationship between the confidentiality of customer data and its possible misuse by employees or hackers, accessibility, effectiveness and efficiency of the product, as well as improvement of functionalities and performance of M-Banking service
UJARAN KEBENCIAN DALAM DAKWAH: ANALISIS TENTANG PENGEJAWANTAHAN IDE AMAR MA’RUF NAHI MUNGKAR DI KALANGAN PARA DA’I DI KALIMANTAN TIMUR
Get PDFHate speech is among the most vicious problem faced by Muslims in the world. As Muslims are obliged to perform the principle of al amr bi al ma’ruf wa tanhawna anil munkar (commanding right and forbidding evil), what perceived as hate speech sometimes overlaps such basic tenet of Islamic principle of commanding right and forbidding wrong. The aim of this research is therefore twofold. First, it explore the contruction of hate speech among Da’is (Islamic preachers) in traditional Islamic boarding schools in East Kalimantan. And Seccondly, it explores ideal responses toward such practices as perceived by those Da’is. Findings suggest that the construction of hate speeches and ideal responses towerds it, among Da’is in Islamic traditional boarding schools known as pondok pesantrens, is founded mostly upon the principle of potential damage of those hate speech practices.Keywords: Hate speech, Islamic Da’wa, and Da’is in East Kalimantan
Assessment for Islamic Education Learning and Its Impact to Student’s Religiousness of Islamic University
Get PDFBeing religious person is absolute for everyone, including the students of Islamic University. That’s why PTKI (Islamic University) does some efforts to strengthen the student’s religiousness. This research is intended to assess the quality of Islamic Education learning and the religiousness of PTKI students and also to observe the implication of this study to student’s religiousness. All students from selected Islamic University in East Kalimantan were taken as the population, and 374 students were chosen as the sample by multistage sampling technique. The technique of dominant data collection was done by doing the survey. The data analysis technique is descriptive analysis and inferential linear regression, through calibration test (validity and reliability), requirement analysis test, normality test, homogenic test, and linearity test. The result of the research has shown that the learning of Islamic Education in Islamic University in East Kalimantan is done well (µ= 4,17). The learning process of Islamic Education in Islamic University has significant influence to student’s religiousness. The learning process of Islamic Education in Islamic University has contributed 54,6% to the increasing of student’s religiousness, while the rest of 45,4% is influenced by other factors. Analysis on Achievement Test in Intensive English Program of IAIN Samarinda
Get PDFAs one of the tests, achievement test has to be qualified. A qualified test will be able to give the information about teaching correctly. If the achievement test is less qualified, the information related to students’ sucesss to achieve the instructional objective will also be less qualified. It means the test has to meet the characteristics of a good test. In fact, there has not been any effort yet to identify the quality of the achievement test which is used in Intensive English program. It means the information of the test quality cannot be found yet. Therefore, researchers are interested in analyzing the quality of achievement test for students in Intensive English program of IAIN Samarinda. Design of this research belongs to Content Analysis. Subject of this research is English achievement tests and 28 to 30 students were involved in the process of try out. Data were collected through three steps. Data were analyzed based on validity, reliability, and item quality. Finding of the research reveals 60 % of the tests have a good construct validity justified by related theories. It was found 55% of the tests have a good content validity. Reliability coefficient of the first tests format is 0, 65 and the second tests format shows 0, 52. Calculation of item difficulty shows 68% of the test items were between 0,20 – 0,80. The estimation of item discrimination shows 73% of the test items were between 0,20 – 0,50. While calculation of distracter efficiency shows 65% of the distracters were effective to distract the test takers
Desain Revisi Penilaian Kurikulum 2013 Tahun 2017: Studi pada Mata Pelajaran Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam di Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara
Get PDFThe low tendency to understand the implementation of the Curriculum 2013 assessment activities is one of the problems in Madrasas. The teacher as one of the actors in the madrasa becomes spearheads the success of learning. Related to the context of the assessment in the Curriculum 2013 at this time must be carried out systematically including the assessment of attitudes, knowledge and skills. The purpose of this study was to determine the desain of the revised assessment curriculum 2013 in 2017. This type of research is library research with data collection techniques using “panduan penilaian oleh guru dan satuan pendidikan SMP/MTs Revisi 2017” linked to the structure of the curriculum, syllabus History of Islamic Culture and education calendar of Tenggarong City Kutai Kartanegara District Learning Year 2017 / 2018 for SMP / MTs. The results of the study that the desain of the revised curriculum assessment 2013 in 2017 related to the History of Islamic Culture in the Islamic Education in Tenggarong City, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, are tied to 4 main keys, namely, the structure of the curriculum, syllabus, educational calendar and time distribution analysis. Spiritual attitude assessment desain uses observation techniques in the classroom and questionnaires outside the classroom. Whereas social attitude assessment uses observation techniques in the classroom, student self-assessment questionnaires and between students outside the classroom. While the knowledge assessment desain uses structured assignment techniques, written tests and oral tests. The desain of knowledge assessment uses performance techniques, projects and products and is archived in the form of portfolios. The final results of the assessment are in the form of leggers which consist of collated judgments in the form of report cards and can be evaluated through student absorption
Analisis Faktor-Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Kinerja Karyawan Di BMT Hasanah Ponorogo
Get PDFPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis factor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan, studi pada BMT Hasanah Ponorogo. Penelitian ini penting mengingat kinerja organisasi atau lembaga sangat dipengaruhi oleh kinerja karyawan, oleh sebab itu apabila kinerja organisasi ingin diperbaiki maka kinerja karyawan perlu diperhatikan. Kinerja yang baik dipengaruhi oleh salah satu faktor yaitu motivasi kerja. Meskipun kemampuan pegawai sangat baik apabila motivasi kerjanya rendah, tentu kinerjanya rendah pula. Pada observasi awal, didapatkan data bahwa loyalitas karyawan BMT Hasanah cukup tinggi meskipun reward yang didapat kurang sesuai dengan UMK, untuk itulah penelitian ini menguji dan membuktikan suatu temuan yang berbeda dengan teori hirarki kebutuhan, teori ERG serta teori dua factor.Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif, tehnik pengumpulan data dengan kuesioner dan dokumentasi. Analisa data melalui Analisis jalur (path analysis) dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS 16.0 for windows. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa lingkungan kerja terhadap motivasi tidak terdapat pengaruh langsung secara positif, namun diantara keduanya saling berhubungan. Terbukti dengan analisis regresi berdasarkan uji T didapat nilai T hitung sebesar 0,723 < T tabel sebesar 2,145 dan nilai signifikan 0,482 > 0,05. Motivasi terhadap kinerja karyawan tidak terdapat pengaruh langsung secara positif, namun keduanya saling berhubungan. Terbukti dengan analisis regresi berdasarkan uji T didapat nilai T hitung sebesar 1,932 < T tabel sebesar 2,145 dan nilai signifikan 0,075 > 0,05
Effects of Training, Work Discipline, and Motivation Against Employee Performance at Islamic Bank
Get PDFThis study aims to determine whether training, work discipline, and motivation affect employee performance at Bank BNI Syariah Surakarta simultaneously and partially. This research uses case study research type which is located in Bank BNI Syariah Surakarta. The samples taken are 100 respondents. The sampling technique in this study used quota random sampling. The data analysis used are 1) Instrument Test, 2) Hypothesis test. The Result of this research shows that: Y = (11,877) + 0,784X1 + 0,444X2 + 0,428 X3 + e. There is an effect of training on employee performance of Bank BNI Syariah Surakarta with p-value <0,05. There is influence of work discipline on employee performance of Bank BNI Syariah Surakarta with p-value <0,05. There is influence of motivation to employee performance of Bank BNI Syariah Surakarta with p-value <0,05. There is an effect of training, work discipline, and motivation simultaneously on employee performance at Bank BNI Syariah Surakarta with p-value <0,05
