The Relationship Between Parental Monitoring and Adolescent Smartphone Addiction: The Longitudinal Mediating Role of Parent-Child Attachment
Get PDFThis study investigated the long-term effects of parental monitoring on mobile phone addiction among high school students and examined the longitudinal mediating role of parent-child attachment. A three-wave longitudinal study spanning 1.5 years was conducted using the Parental Monitoring Scale, Parent-Child Attachment Scale, and Mobile Phone Addiction Scale. Valid data were collected from 405 students (grades 10–11) at a Chongqing secondary school across three assessments. The results demonstrated that: 1) Parental monitoring significantly negatively predicted adolescents’ mobile phone addiction over time; 2) The mediating effect of parent-child attachment remained consistent across different time points, indicating stability in its intermediary role throughout the study period. These findings suggest that parental monitoring not only directly reduces mobile phone addiction but also exerts an indirect influence by enhancing parent-child attachment. The study highlights the enduring protective role of parental involvement and relational bonds in mitigating technology-related behavioral issues during adolescence
Unhuman-Like: Congolese Natives in Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness

Conrad craftily dehumanises the Congolese natives through a systematic method that can be detailed as follows: 1- representing Congolese natives as an underdeveloped species of creatures has nothing to qualify it to be human-like, 2- seeing such creatures only partially, that is as “heads”, “faces”, “eyes”, “lips”, “noses”, “necks”, “feet” etc., but not as whole human beings, and 3- asserting that “these creatures” (23), can be anything but human beings. Association Between Serum Ferritin and In-hospital Mortality in Critical Ills with Sepsis-Associated Acute Kidney Injury: A Retrospective Cohort Study
Get PDFBackground: The association between serum ferritin (SF) and in-hospital mortality in sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SAAKI) remains unclear. The study explored the relationship between SF and in-hospital mortality in SAAKI patients. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using data from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV2.2 database. The primary outcome was all-cause, in-hospital mortality. Multivariable adjusted Cox regression models were utilized to determine the hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI). The natural logarithm of SF (SF(ln)) was employed for restricted cubic spline regression and threshold effects analyses. Stratified and interaction analyses in different subgroups were performed to assess the relationship's stability.
Results: The study included 2,806 SAAKI patients in the intensive care unit, with a 54.1% male enrollment rate and a mean age of 64.8 ± 16.6 years. After adjusting for potential confounders, SF(ln) was found to be associated with in-hospital mortality among SAAKI patients (HR 1.27; 95% CI, 1.18-1.36; p <0.001). Patients in the highest SF quantile (Q4, SF≥1056.2ng/mL) had an adjusted HR for in-hospital mortality of 1.64 (95% CI, 1.23-2.19; p=0.001). Non-linear associations between SF(ln) and in-hospital mortality were observed, with higher SF levels corresponding to increased mortality risk. Sensitivity analyses across different subgroups yielded consistent results.Conclusion: A nonlinear association was observed between SF and in-hospital mortality among SAAKI patients. Individuals admitted with SF ≥1056.2ng/mL had substantially increased in-hospital mortality. However, additional prospective studies are required to validate these findings
Research on the Anatomy of the Dorsal Root Ganglion and its Involvement in the Mechanism of Neuropathic Pain
Get PDFThe dorsal root ganglion (DRG), as one of the key structures in the sensory nervous system, plays a crucial role in the onset and development of neuropathic pain. This paper explores the involvement of the DRG in the mechanism of neuropathic pain, starting with its anatomical structure. First, the basic anatomical characteristics of the DRG and its function in sensory signal transmission are analyzed. Then, the role of the DRG in neuropathic pain is discussed, particularly focusing on the abnormal neuronal activity and molecular mechanisms in chronic pain and hyperalgesia. Finally, the potential of the DRG as a therapeutic target for neuropathic pain is explored, including current treatment methods and future research directions. Through a detailed analysis of the DRG, this study provides new insights into understanding the mechanism of neuropathic pain and its clinical treatment
Evaluation of the Policy Effects of Low-Carbon City Pilot Projects Based on the PSM-DID Model
Get PDFIn the context of the dual-carbon policy, evaluating the implementation effects of low-carbon city pilot policies is of great significance. Based on panel data from 284 prefecture-level cities in China between 2004 and 2020, this paper integrates the Propensity Score Matching (PSM) method with the Difference-in-Differences (DID) method, referred to as the PSM-DID model. By employing parallel trend tests, placebo tests, robustness checks, and heterogeneity analyses, the implementation effects of the low-carbon city pilot policies are evaluated and compared with those from the traditional DID model. The results indicate that: (1) The low-carbon city pilot policies significantly curb carbon emissions in eastern China, while the effects in central and western regions are relatively weak; (2) Factors influencing carbon emissions differ significantly across regions. In particular, clean energy structure and per capita affluence have a greater impact on the eastern region, while the effect is weaker in the central and western regions; (3) The timing, scope, and regional factors of implementation significantly affect the policy outcomes. Policies implemented early yield more significant results than those implemented later, with regional development levels and scope of implementation playing key roles in shaping policy outcomes; (4) The PSM-DID model yields more reliable results than the DID model
Exploration and Scale Development of Brand Internalization Dimensions for Employees in Refined Oil Sales Enterprises
Get PDFIn recent years, fierce competition has compelled refined oil sales enterprises to make strategic adjustments, one of which is to modify their marketing strategies. These strategies include internal marketing to employees, perceived as brand internalization from the employees' perspective. However, exploration of employee brand internalization has often been limited to industries such as tourism and hospitality, with no specific scale for refined oil sales enterprises. To address this, the article employs a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, leading to the following conclusions: Using employees from four refined oil sales enterprises as samples, an exploratory study was conducted using grounded theory, extracting 24 primary dimensions of employee brand internalization. A theoretical model of the meaning dimensions of employee brand internalization in refined oil sales enterprises was constructed. Furthermore, following a rigorous scale development process, a measurement scale of employee brand citizenship behavior with 20 items was developed. This research not only provides a measurement tool for empirical studies on the meaning of employee brand internalization in refined oil sales enterprises but also offers a diagnostic tool for refining marketing strategies in these enterprises

Research on the Influence of Digital Finance Development on Entrepreneurial Engagement Among New Citizens
Get PDFThe new citizen demographic constitutes a substantial and expanding segment of the urban workforce, playing a pivotal role in urban economic dynamics. Despite facing financing barriers during entrepreneurial ventures, this group has witnessed novel opportunities arising from the rapid evolution of digital finance. Utilizing data from the 2019 China Household Finance Survey (CHFS), this study examines the effect of digital finance development on entrepreneurial behavior among new citizens through empirical analysis via the Probit model. Results indicate that digital finance development significantly encourages entrepreneurial activity within this group, a finding robust to endogeneity controls and multiple robustness validations. Mechanistic analyse further demonstrates that this effect is mediated by the pathway: increased adoption of digital payment systems
Analysis of Coupling and Coordination Between High-Quality Agricultural Development and Digital Economy
Get PDFEnhancing the efficiency of agricultural resource allocation is a key driving force for achieving high-quality agricultural development. As an emerging engine, digital economy can optimize the structure of agricultural resource allocation to the greatest extent, promoting the digital transformation of agricultural production, thereby facilitating the synergistic progress between the digital economy and high-quality agricultural development. This paper uses the entropy method to calculate the comprehensive index of high-quality agricultural development and the comprehensive index of digital economic development for six provinces in central China from 2011 to 2022, and constructs a coupling coordination model to measure and analyze both indices. The results show that the comprehensive index of high-quality agricultural development and the comprehensive index of digital economic development in the six central provinces are generally at a high-level coupling stage. In terms of coupling coordination, Anhui Province, Henan Province, Hubei Province, and Hunan Province are at the initial coordination level, Jiangxi Province is at the barely coordinated level, and Shanxi Province is on the verge of imbalance. To strengthen the coupling coordination between the digital economy and high-quality agricultural development, this paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions for promoting high-quality agricultural development, including enhancing the application of digital technology in agriculture, driving the digital transformation of the entire agricultural industry chain, cultivating digital agriculture talent and innovative ecosystems, and improving the policy and legal system related to agricultural digitalization
