The Impact of Population Aging on the Revenue-Expenditure Equilibrium of China's Basic Urban-Rural Residents' Pension Insurance Fund

    Get PDF
This article utilizes provincial-level data from 31 provinces in China spanning 2013 to 2023, sourced from the EPS Data Platform, to construct a fixed-effects model investigating the impact of population aging on the revenue and expenditure status of basic urban and rural residents' pension insurance funds. The results demonstrate a statistically significant negative effect at the 1% level, indicating that population aging exerts a suppressive influence on the fiscal balance of these pension funds. Robustness of the findings was confirmed through several tests: employing explanatory variables lagged by one period, winsorizing both the dependent and key independent variables, and incorporating additional control variables. Finally, regional heterogeneity analysis across eastern, central, and western China revealed that the pension fund balance in the eastern region is more sensitive to changes in population aging, whereas in the central and western regions, the fund balance ratio is more susceptible to the influence of government subsidies than to aging

Does the Development of the Digital Economy Drive the Growth of Service Consumption? — Evidence from China

    Get PDF
This paper examines the impact of the digital economy on service consumption using provincial panel data from China (2014–2022) via fixed effects models. The empirical results indicate that the digital economy has a significant positive impact on the growth of service consumption in China. In further heterogeneity analysis, we provide evidence that the digital economy has a significant positive impact on service consumption in eastern China, whereas the positive effect lacks statistical significance in the central and western regions. Notably, the positive effect of the digital economy on service consumption is statistically significant in both rural and urban areas, with the magnitude of the effect being greater in rural areas than in urban areas. Specifically, the digital economy exerts a positive and statistically significant impact on transportation, communication, and healthcare consumption; in contrast, its impact on education, culture, and entertainment consumption is positive yet statistically insignificant. In terms of policy implications, we propose strengthening regional coordination to narrow the digital economy gap, providing preferential allocation of special bonds to the central and western regions, and launching “AI + Education” initiative to develop personalized learning platforms

The Constraining Effect of Population Aging on China's Economic Growth

    Get PDF
This paper aims to explore the mechanisms through which population aging impacts China's economic development, analyzing its effects on labor supply, human capital, enterprise vitality, and international trade, while proposing corresponding strategies. Drawing on data from the Communiqués on National Economic and Social Development spanning 2009-2023, combined with a literature review and trend analysis, the study systematically examines the relationship between population aging and economic growth. The findings indicate that China's population aging process is accelerating, with the proportion of the working-age population continuously declining, exerting significant pressure on economic growth; the rising share of the elderly population leads to reduced labor supply, diminished entrepreneurial entry intentions, and weakened export competitiveness, thereby constraining economic development. To address this, the paper recommends measures such as optimizing fertility policies, delaying retirement age, increasing investments in human capital, and improving the pension security system to mitigate the adverse effects of population aging and promote high-quality economic development

Bibliometric Analysis of Digital Transformation in China's Primary Education from 2000 to 2025

    Get PDF
This study analyzes 359 publications on digital transformation in primary education from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) database (2000–2025) using CiteSpace for bibliometric and visual analysis, systematically examining the research landscape, hotspots, and evolutionary trends in China's primary education digitization since the 21st century. Key findings include: (1) Publication volumes exhibit three distinct phases—initial exploration, steady development, and accelerated growth; (2) Research focuses cluster around three domains: discipline-specific digital pedagogical innovation, development and governance of digital educational resources, and enhancement of teachers' and students' digital literacy, with "core competencies" emerging as a pivotal recent theme; (3) Fragmented collaboration networks among researchers and institutions, coupled with insufficient cross-disciplinary synergy, constrain research depth. To advance digital transformation from "technology integration" to "educational restructuring," strategic recommendations emphasize establishing mixed-methods research paradigms, strengthening interdisciplinary collaboration, and exploring region-specific implementation pathways. This research provides empirical evidence and policy insights for theoretical advancement and practical optimization of educational digital transformation

Critique and Transcendence of Digital Capitalism: An Analysis of the Theoretical and Practical Path to Digital Socialism

    Get PDF
The deep integration of digital technology and capital logic has given birth to digital capitalism. It reconstructs the mode of production and social relations through data monopoly, algorithm control and platform mechanism, but it also aggravates systemic crises such as labor alienation, social inequality and technological monopoly. Based on Marx 's political economy, this paper deeply analyzes the essence, internal contradictions, limitations and crises of digital capitalism, and reveals the essence of exploitation under the appearance of " technology empowerment " from the perspective of Marxist criticism. At the same time, this paper integrates the unique experience of digital socialism attempts in European and American countries, Western left-wing practice and Chinese model, explores the diversified practice path of digital socialism, and provides theoretical reference and practical direction for building a new form of digital society that takes into account efficiency and fairness

Visual Narrative and Semiotic Analysis: Unpacking the Symbolic Imagery in film Joker and Joker: Folie à Deux

    Get PDF
This study applies Charles Sanders Peirce’s three-element semiotic model (icon, index and symbol) as an analytical device to explore how visual elements in Todd Phillips’s Joker (2019) and its follow-up film Joker: Folie à Deux (2024) convey meanings. Instead of focusing on plot or themes, the approach deciphers how camera compositions, colour, costume details and choreographed actions function as active signs. In the film, the bleak, worn-out cityscape acts as an icon that mirrors real-world social gaps, points to institutional neglect and conveys a sense of class rebellion. Arthur Fleck’s clown makeup and unpredictable dances reference traditional clown imagery, reveal his inner turmoil and trigger collective catharsis. In Joker: Folie à Deux, vibrant neon lights and shared dance routines maintain these semiotic processes by means of evoking carnival atmosphere, signalling the unfold of madness and crafting a revolutionary narrative. Through a close study of the films’ visual materials across the icon, index and symbol registers, this research shows how the construction of imagery not only shapes the character of Arthur Fleck but also serves as a critical statement at the marginalization of individuals, the breakdown of social order, and the consequences of systemic neglect, and uncovers layers of significance that have previously been overlooked

The Broaden and Build Theory in English Learning: Unraveling the Link between Achievement Goals and Engagement among English Major

    Get PDF
Amid globalization, English's significance as an international communication tool is evident. However, while much research focuses on middle and high school and general college students, English majors have been relatively overlooked. Their achievement goals and learning engagement are crucial for academic and career advancement. This study adopted a mixed - methods approach. It surveyed 416 English - major students from diverse universities, including both Han and ethnic minorities. An optimized questionnaire was used, and data were analyzed with SPSS 26.0. Results show a significant positive correlation between English learning achievement goals and learning engagement, both at a medium - high level. Differences exist across various factors like gender, grade, ethnicity, and proficiency. For example, female students have less speaking anxiety, and seniors are more proficient and engaged. Based on the Broaden and Build Theory, this research offers new perspectives for English teaching, while also identifying limitations and suggesting future research directions

Effects of Dual-Task Training Combined with Environmental Adaptation Therapy on Executive Function and Community Walking Ability After Stroke: A Randomized Controlled Trial

    Get PDF
Background: Executive dysfunction and impaired community ambulation are common after stroke, limiting independence and increasing fall risk. Dual-task training has shown promise in improving cognitive–motor integration, while environmental adaptation therapy enhances functional relevance and ecological validity. However, evidence for the combined effects of these approaches remains limited. Objective: To investigate the effects of dual-task training combined with environmental adaptation therapy on executive function and community walking ability in individuals with stroke. Methods: In this single-blind randomized controlled trial, participants with chronic stroke were randomly assigned to an intervention group receiving dual-task training integrated with environmental adaptation therapy or to a control group receiving conventional rehabilitation. Both groups trained 45 minutes per session, three times per week for eight weeks. Executive function was assessed using the Trail Making Test-Part B (TMT-B), Stroop Color-Word Test, and verbal fluency. Gait and community ambulation outcomes included dual-task gait speed, the Walking Adaptability Test, the Activity-specific Balance Confidence (ABC) Scale, and the Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ). Assessments were conducted at baseline, post-intervention, and three-month follow-up. Results: Compared with the control group, the intervention group demonstrated significantly greater improvements in executive function, shown by reduced TMT-B completion time, improved Stroop interference scores, and higher verbal fluency performance (all p < 0.01). Significant group-by-time interactions were also observed for gait adaptability and dual-task gait speed (p < 0.05). Improvements in ABC and CIQ scores indicated enhanced walking confidence and better community participation in the intervention group. All gains were maintained at three-month follow-up. No serious adverse events occurred. Conclusion: Dual-task training combined with environmental adaptation therapy produced superior improvements in executive function, walking adaptability, and community participation compared with conventional rehabilitation. The combined approach appears feasible, safe, and ecologically meaningful, offering a promising strategy for enhancing cognitive–motor integration and real-world ambulation after stroke

Status of Mungbean Production in Central Luzon, Philippines

    Get PDF
Mungbean is the major field legume produced by farmers in Central Luzon after harvesting rice in the wet season. It requires minimal to zero tillage and less irrigation so it is best planted in the rainfed rice areas during dry season. Being the second top mungbean producer among all regions in the Philippines, Central Luzon needs to address the challenges in its mungbean industry to identify relative interventions toward increasing the production volume. This paper analyzed the status of the region’s mungbean production through profiling of farms and farmers, examining cost and returns in the whole value chain and identification of market chains, constraints, interventions, and current research programs. The lack of available quality seeds, trainings, extension support and fund allocation for research limit the potential of mungbean industry to increase production areas and yield. The proximity of Central Luzon to Greater Manila Area where most trading and processing occur, indicates a greater potential to expand market opportunities. The concerns of farmers on manual harvesting of mungbean pose a major challenge to the agricultural and mechanical engineers in designing machineries for small farm landholdings

Assessing National Transport Policies, and Projects for SDG Delivery – Case of Urban India

    Get PDF
The transport sector is central to climate action, contributing 24% of global direct CO₂ emissions, with road transport as the dominant source. In India, although transport accounts for only 10% of national emissions, rapid urbanization and rising incomes are expected to escalate urban travel demand and emissions. This paper assesses India’s urban transport policies and programmes for their alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and their broader climate and equity implications. Using a novel rating framework, we evaluate the legal status, scope, and intervention types across a diverse policy landscape- missions, frameworks, acts, and schemes. We map these interventions against categorized SDG targets and themes, and statistically assess their contribution to inclusive, low-carbon urban mobility. Despite fragmented systems and limited clean energy adoption, the sector offers significant mitigation potential. Our findings highlight key policy gaps and opportunities, offering guiding principles to strengthen SDG integration in transport planning. This paper contributes to the discourse on aligning urban transport with climate and development goals in the Global South
