    A Study on the Relationship Between the Career Motivation and Professional Identity of Young Social Workers——An Empirical Investigation Based on Social Work Service Agencies in City Z, Guangdong Province

    Accurately grasping the employment motivation and professional identity of young social workers is of great significance for building a high - quality social worker team. According to the self - determination theory, the employment motivation of young social workers can be divided into four types: internal drive type, external attraction type, composite motivation type, and motivation - lack type. Through a questionnaire survey, combined with survey questions on employment motivation types and a professional identity scale, a survey was conducted on young social workers in social work service agencies in City Z, Guangdong Province. The research found that there is a correlation between different employment motivations and the professional identity of young social workers. Among them, young social workers of the motivation - lack type have relatively low professional identity, while those of the internal drive type, composite motivation type, and external attraction type show higher professional identity. Based on the research results, it is proposed that social work service agencies should give play to the leading role of young social workers of the composite motivation type, stimulate the internal enthusiasm of young social workers of the internal drive type, strengthen the external incentives for young social workers of the external attraction type, and guide the motivation exploration of young social workers of the motivation - lack type. While enhancing the professional identity of young social workers, a high - quality and high - efficiency young social worker team should be built

    A Case Report of Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5 Complicated with Uremic Tumor Calcinosis

    Uremic tumor calcinosis (UTC) represents an extremely rare complication associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD), prominently characterized by the occurrence of ectopic calcification. The incidence of UTC among uremic peritoneal dialysis patients has been estimated to be approximately 1.60%. This specific case report aims to illuminate the intricate diagnostic and therapeutic challenges encountered in a dialysis patient. A 74-year-old male, diagnosed with stage 5 CKD and undergoing peritoneal dialysis, presented with a considerable 12x5 cm soft tissue mass on his back. Through a comprehensive array of imaging studies and histopathological examinations, the mass was subsequently identified as UTC. The diagnostic process revealed elevated levels of Parathyroid hormone (PTH) at 445.100 pg/ml and phosphorus at 2.77mg/dl. The diagnosis was ultimately confirmed via surgical resection. The patient's condition was managed and stabilized through the administration of phosphate binders and calcitriol. This case significantly underlines the critical necessity of vigilant and continuous monitoring of calcium-phosphorus metabolism in patients with CKD. Furthermore, it highlights UTC as an important differential diagnosis consideration when confronted with soft tissue masses

    Home-based vs. Nursing Home Care: A Comparative Study on the Quality of Life of the Elderly in Nantong

    Background: China’s aging population underscores urgent challenges in elderly care. In this study, quality of life (QoL) and nutritional status were compared between elderly populations in home-based and nursing home care to inform care strategies. Methods: A stratified random sample of elderly residents in the Chongchuan, Nantong, was assessed using online and offline questionnaires. The data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0. Results: Nursing home residents exhibited significantly lower QoL across all dimensions than home-based elderly. Female elderly exhibited significantly higher mean scores across all QoL dimensions than males. Individuals aged 60–69 years scored higher across all dimensions than the other age groups. Academic qualifications significantly influenced two dimensions, with higher academic qualifications associated with better outcomes. Pre-retirement occupation showed significant effects on four dimensions, although no inter-occupational differences were observed. Income significantly impacted one dimension, with higher income correlating with a better QoL. Significant effects of marital status were observed. Frequency of contact with children only influenced one dimension, with no differences across contact levels. Chronic diseases significantly affected all dimensions. Home-based elderly individuals had higher Mini Nutritional Assessment Short-Form (MNA-SF) scores than nursing home residents. MNA-SF scores showed significant positive correlations with all QoL dimensions. Conclusions: The higher QoL and nutritional status of home-based elderly individuals compared to nursing home residents was attributed to stronger family support, greater autonomy, and familiar environments. Care setting selection should consider health status and family support. Interventions targeting mental health, social interactions, and nutrition are essential for improving QoL in nursing homes

    The Relationship Between Educational Achievement and Oral Health Status: A Systematic Review of Cross-Sectional Studies

    Background: Oral health status significantly affects general health and quality of life, with mounting evidence suggesting a positive correlation between educational level and oral health outcomes. However, comprehensive synthesis of this relationship across diverse populations and healthcare systems remains limited. Objective: To systematically review and analyze the relationship between educational level and oral health status across global populations, providing evidence-based insights for health policy development and oral health improvement strategies. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed and The Cochrane Library databases from January 2007 to January 2025. Search terms included "oral health," "education level," "caries," "periodontosis," and "tooth loss." Cross-sectional studies examining the relationship between educational attainment and oral health outcomes were included. Study quality was assessed using the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality 11-item checklist. Data extraction focused on correlations between educational level and dental caries, periodontal disease, and tooth loss across different populations and healthcare systems. Results: A total of 236 articles were identified, with 32 cross-sectional studies meeting inclusion criteria after systematic screening. The studies encompassed populations from both developed countries (Britain, United States, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Finland) and developing nations (Chile, Egypt, India, Thailand, Colombia, Nigeria, China). Consistent evidence demonstrated that educational level was negatively correlated with the prevalence of dental caries, periodontal disease, and tooth loss across all examined populations. This inverse relationship persisted even in developed countries with established national public health insurance systems, indicating that educational gradients in oral health transcend healthcare access barriers. Conclusions: Educational level demonstrates a robust and consistent association with oral health outcomes across diverse global populations and healthcare systems. The universality of this relationship suggests that expanding educational opportunities represents a promising upstream intervention strategy for improving population oral health. These findings support the integration of educational advancement into comprehensive oral health promotion policies and highlight the potential for educational interventions to address oral health disparities at the population level

    Parkinson's Disease as a Risk Factor for Dental Caries? – Results of a Systematic Review

    This systematic review aimed in the evaluation of dental caries in patients suffering from Parkinsons disease (PD), to answer the question, whether PD patients show a higher caries burden compared to controls. In January 2025, a systematic literature search in the platforms PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science was performed, using the search terms “parkinson” AND “caries” and “parkinson’s disease” AND “caries”. Data of studies, which also included a control group were extracted and qualitatively analyzed. The whole process was performed by two independent reviewers. Furthermore, a quality appraisal was performed. Overall, seven studies were included in the qualitative analysis, which originated from six different countries and included between 30 and 104 participants in the PD group. The de-ceased-, missing- and filled-teeth index (DMFT) was the most frequent caries assessment. In 5 of the 7 studies a significant difference in caries prevalence was found between patients with PD and controls, whereby only 3 of these studies showed worse caries burden in PD group. Moreover, it was shown that most of included studies were assessed to be of moderate quality. In conclusion, it can be stated that while the evidence for a higher caries prevalence of PD patients compared with controls is weak, burden of caries in patients with PD is high. Patients with PD should receive increased attention in dental care

    Integration of Innovative Materials and Biotechnology in Joint Repair and Regeneration

    Musculoskeletal disorders, particularly osteoarthritis (OA), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and post-traumatic osteoarthritis, are on the rise due to aging populations and increasing rates of obesity. The advent of regenerative medicine, particularly stem cell therapies, bioscaffolds, and growth factor delivery systems, has provided a new therapeutic direction for the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders by activating the body's self-repair mechanisms to restore joint structure and function. However, optimizing the integration, durability, and functional recovery of regenerated tissues remains a major challenge. To further address the potential of stem cell therapy, biomaterials, 3D bioprinting, and gene interventions in repairing and regenerating damaged joint tissues, this paper further traces the research advances of biomaterials, stem cell technologies, and gene therapies through in-depth analyses of relevant domestic and international studies and literatures, comprehensively evaluating their efficacy, safety, and potential clinical applications in joint repair and regeneration. At the same time, the paper focuses on the multidisciplinary integration of innovative materials and biotechnologies and the creative expansion from laboratory research to clinical applications. The role of nanotechnology, gene editing in orthopedics, and advances in 3D bioprinting in tissue engineering are also examined in some detail.It was found that mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) show great potential for cartilage regeneration and inflammation reduction, and preliminary clinical trials have shown improvements in joint function and pain. Biomaterial-based strategies, such as collagen scaffolds combined with hydroxyapatite, have shown better results in repairing cartilage defects in animal models, which provides a low-cost, simple and environmentally friendly approach. In addition, nanotechnology and smart biomaterials are being explored for their potential for drug delivery and tissue repair, with nanocarriers protecting growth factors from degradation and enhancing targeted delivery. The convergence of innovative materials and technologies is bringing new therapeutic horizons to joint repair and regeneration. Multidisciplinary collaboration and the integration of innovative materials are opening up unprecedented therapeutic perspectives for joint repair and regeneration, and cross-disciplinary integration of materials science, regenerative medicine, and immunology is driving further development of precision medicine and personalized therapies. The integration of these technologies not only demonstrates great potential in the field of joint regeneration, but also provides new ideas for solving other complex biomedical problems. As these technologies continue to advance, the future of joint regenerative therapy is promising and will bring more benefits to patients with bone and joint diseases worldwide

    Synergistic Effects of BMP-2 and VEGF with Calcined Bovine Bone for Alveolar Ridge Preservation: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

    Background: Alveolar ridge remodeling following tooth extraction can result in significant dimensional loss, compromising future implant placement. While calcined bovine bone (CBB) has shown promise in socket preservation, the synergistic effects of combining CBB with bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) remain inadequately studied. Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of different growth factor combinations with CBB for alveolar ridge preservation following tooth extraction through a randomized controlled trial. Methods: Eighty patients requiring molar or premolar extraction were randomly allocated into four groups (n=20 each): control (no treatment), CBB alone, CBB+BMP-2, and CBB+BMP-2+VEGF. Primary outcomes included alveolar ridge dimensional changes assessed by cone-beam computed tomography at baseline and 3 months post-extraction. Secondary outcomes encompassed soft tissue healing evaluation using the Landry Wound Healing Index, pain assessment via Visual Analog Scale, and patient satisfaction scores. Bone density was evaluated through grayscale analysis of CBCT images. Results: All groups showed comparable baseline characteristics. At 3 months, the CBB+BMP-2+VEGF group demonstrated superior ridge preservation with minimal buccal height loss (0.25±0.03 mm vs. 2.33±0.24 mm in controls, p<0.01) and optimal width preservation across all measurement levels. Hounsfield unit values increased most significantly in the combination group (1093.94±42.63 HU increase vs. 526.87±93.50 HU in controls, p<0.01). The CBB+BMP-2+VEGF group achieved significantly lower pain scores throughout the observation period, enhanced soft tissue healing scores, and higher patient satisfaction ratings (9.2±0.6 vs. 7.5±1.1 in controls, p<0.05). Conclusions: The combination of CBB with BMP-2 and VEGF provides superior alveolar ridge preservation compared to conventional approaches, demonstrating enhanced dimensional stability, accelerated healing, and improved patient-reported outcomes. These findings support the clinical implementation of growth factor-enhanced socket preservation protocols for optimal implant site development

    Study on Land Use Change and Its Impacts in the Nanming River Basin

    Land use significantly affects river basin water quality directly and indirectly through landscape pattern changes. This study analyzed land use changes in the Nanming River Basin in 2000, 2010, and 2020, calculating landscape pattern indices for different buffer zones in 2010 and correlating them with water quality data. Key findings: From 2000 to 2020, grassland area decreased while artificial surfaces expanded, with landscape fragmentation declining as buffer scales increased. Upper reaches had better water quality than lower reaches, though both sections showed significant nitrogen pollution. Higher proportions of cropland and artificial surfaces correlated with worse pollution, while grassland and forest land strongly inhibited pollutants. Reduced landscape fragmentation benefited water quality, and more standardized artificial surface shapes had stronger positive effects

    Age-Friendly Design of Public Spaces in Aging Residential Communities from a Micro-Renewal Perspective

    In the context of an aging society, public spaces in aging residential communities often suffer from inadequate age-friendly features, while large-scale renovations face practical constraints. This study aims to explore how micro-renewal strategies—characterized by low-cost and incremental interventions—can optimize community public spaces to better meet the physical and psychological needs of elderly residents. Grounded in the concept of micro-renewal, the research first investigates current conditions and identifies key issues in typical aging communities. It then proposes age-friendly design strategies from three spatial dimensions: pedestrian circulation, landscape environments, and interactive spaces, based on seniors’ behavioral patterns, physical limitations, and social interaction needs. The study develops a micro-renewal framework for aging community public spaces, emphasizing quality improvement through refined design rather than large-scale reconstruction. The proposed framework offers a practical implementation reference for age-friendly renovations in constrained settings and contributes to the broader discourse on urban micro-regeneration
