    Weakly Non-Linear Stability of Maxwell Fluid in a Porous Layer with the Effect of Magnetic Field

    The problem of magnetoconvection over a Maxwell fluid due to porous media with the Darcy–Brinkman model via magnetic field is studied. Analytical results of the critical Darcy–Rayleigh numbers at the onset of stationary convection and oscillatory convection are derived. The governing dimensionless equations are tackled through the normal modeapproach, resulting in an eigenvalue problem within the context of linear stability theory. Furthermore, we harness the power of the Galerkin first-order method in MATLAB R2020a to address and resolve this eigenvalue problem. The behaviour of various parameters, like the Q, Λ, Da, and Pm, has been analyzed. The neutral curves are obtained for different prescribed values of the other physical parameters. The Chandrasekhar and Darcy numbers stabilize the system, and the Critical oscillatory Rayleigh number is a non-monotonic function of Pm. In order to study the heat transport by convection, the well-known Ginzburg-Landau equation has been derived using weakly non-linear analysis

    Cleaning reagents are a common substance in every household and are used in everyday lives, especially after the outbreak of COVID-19 around the world. These have been part of the household for hundreds of years. It is essential to remove dirt and germs not only from the clothes but also from the human skin. It is also used to remove stains, dust or unpleasant odours from the body and the clothes. These are available in various forms, such as powders, granules, liquids and sprays. Cleaning reagents are generally manufactured in two ways: naturally and synthetically. The most frequently used synthetic cleaning agents are soaps, detergents, body cleansers, etc. But the environment is affected when the soap water or detergent water is disposed of through the sewage, which then eventually goes to the environment due to presence of non-biodegradable and toxic chemicals. So, it becomes necessary to replace these harmful cleaning reagents with the greener ones to reduce the harmful influence on the environment. Some of the green cleaning reagents are natural soaps, homemade products such as baking soda, lemon juice, vegetable oils and, plant and fruit extracts, HNT, microbial cleaning, biosurfactants, plants-based surfactants. This review article aims to focus on the greener cleaning reagents, which can be great alternatives compared to the present harmful cleaning reagents for better effects on the environment and for human safety

    DNA has emerged as a promising medium for digital data storage because of its high density, longevity, as well as energy efficiency. However, the security provided by  DNA storage systems remains a concern, particularly as the technology is adopted for sensitive data applications. DNA encryption offers a potential solution to this problem by encoding the stored data in a secure and reversible manner. In this paper, a new DNA encryption for storage applications by editing or creating a new DNA sequence to store big data for archival purposes in an encrypted format to provide security, is proposed. It is concluded that DNA encryption is a promising approach for securing digital data in DNA storage systems, and there is requirement for further research to optimize the performance and reliability of this technology

    The current study is a comprehensive review that provides an overview of recent trends in Organizational Development (OD) over the past five years (2018-23) based on empirical evidence. The study analyzes the identified trends, key concepts, and theories, and their impact on the OD field. The major trends in OD identified include strategic agility, learning and development, digital transformation, effective leadership, engagement and well-being, and fostering inclusivity and diversity. The study highlights the underlying theories and approaches that have influenced these trends. The findings suggest that organizations need to adapt to change faster with a dynamic environment and market expectations, and strategic agility is crucial for researchers and business practitioners. Learning and development within the organization is essential to keep employees up-to-date with relevant skills and help them adapt to changes much faster. Effective leadership, engagement and well-being, and fostering inclusivity and diversity are also critical for organizational growth and sustainability. The study provides insights for OD professionals to tailor solutions that meet the unique requirements of each organization and forecasts the future of OD globally by identifying trends and emerging issues

    A Short-spanned Career and a Blurry Future: Migrants from North-East India in Hospitality and Retail

    Composed in their demeanor and well-groomed in appearance, standing outside restaurants as hosts or tip-toeing around in busy shop-floors, working as veins of the neo-liberal service economy, young men and women from India’s north-east form a significant lot as hospitality and retail workers in some of the major cities of India. This category of workers have been studied through lenses such as interactive services, aesthetic labour, emotional labour, etc. Using these as conceptual tools, the present paper tries to locate migrants from the North-East in the concerned occupational sector and understand their position in terms of career aspirations and job security. The research is qualitative in nature and is based on a series of interviews and informal conversations with men and women from the North-East working in different retail spaces like shopping malls, restaurants and salons in Delhi, and individuals who have returned to their home-towns after having worked a few years in the industry. Findings of the study bring attention to the complex relationships that exist between identities, employment and aspirations

    Editorial:   The editorial team at Mapana - Journal of Sciences is excited to share the new issue for December 2022. I am pleased to see the encouragement and support that this multidisciplinary UGC care-listed journal is receiving from peers and key resource specialists in the physical sciences, chemical sciences, mathematics, biological sciences, and computer sciences. My greatest appreciation and respect go to all the authors who contributed to the current edition. We have made an effort to publish six research articles in this issue that are relevant to the disciplines of mathematics, biological sciences, chemistry, and physics. To solve homogeneous linear sequential fractional differential equations with constant coefficients, Tyagi and Chandel designed an analytical method. This technique establishes a connection between the solutions of classical differential equations and fractional differential equations by locating their auxiliary equations. This approach is simpler and more precise. Microbiology is helping in the production of various enzymes with great economic value. The research article written by Dhandayuthapani and Lakshmi, statistically optimized the cultural conditions for the production of lipase from the mutagenic strain of a newly isolated Bacillus licheniformis MLP. Response surface methodology was employed and it was observed that 5.5% of sunflower oil, glucose, peptone and 55µML-1 of Zn produced maximum lipase activity of 37.21±0.12 UmL-1. These particular statistical strategies can help in the production of enzymes at the industrial scale. Niloy Das et al. examined the phytochemicals, antioxidant, antibacterial, and larvicidal qualities of the fruit extracts of Acacia nilotica. This study established the presence of numerous phytochemicals such as flavonoids, phenols, terpenoids, saponins, and steroids in fruit extracts. Using ferric-reducing antioxidant power assays, it was demonstrated that these phytochemicals contributed to the anti-oxidant properties. The larvicidal and antibacterial properties of the aqueous and alcohol extracts were evident. In recent years nanotechnology has taken leaps in its development and applications. In the article written by Amit Kumar, nanosphere optics lab field simulator was used, which is based on Mie's theory of sphere scattering, to analyse the extinction spectra, electric field intensity, and changes of gold nanoparticles owing to different semiconductor media. The results show considerable differences since the embedding media has changed. The distinctive adjustable electro-optical characteristics of gold nanoparticles may consequently be advantageous for industrial catalysts, pharmaceuticals, and other consumer goods. According to the study, outcomes can be enhanced in the medium-size range or 25–75 nm. Additionally, when the host material's refractive index rises, the selectivity may be enhanced linearly. Chandra Sivaram, Kenath Arun, and Avijeet Prasad have discussed the various gravitating properties of negative mass particles and their implications for black holes, cosmology, and fundamental physics. The authors studied the possibility of negative mass particles accounting for the universe's accelerated expansion. They set constraints on the density of these negative mass particles based on astrophysical observations. They also pointed out some inconsistencies in the earlier works on negative mass as a possible model for dark energy while considering the various properties of particles with negative mass in the gravitational field. Sudesh Pahal and Preity Priya presented a comprehensive research study on low-interaction secure shell honeypots. They demonstrated a user-friendly honeypot with low interaction. They mentioned that once deployed, the honeypot can run without manual intervention and keep track of each deployment session without interfering with parallel processes. Also, the honeypot is capable of recording and analysing suspicious network traffic and notifying the hosting organization about the same.     Theoretical and Experimental Investigations of Antibiotic Agents Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and Trimethoprim (TMP) by Density Functional Theory

    In this manuscript, a complete theoretical and experimental investigation of antibiotic agents Sulfamethoxazole (SMX) and Trimethoprim (TMP) was performed using the Density Functional Theory (DFT) with B3LYP, CAM-B3LTP and B3PW91 levels of theory and 6-311++G(d,p) basis set. The geometrical parameters of SMX and TMP are computed and compared with literature data.  The global reactivity descriptors are estimated from HOMO - LUMO energies to know the chemical reactivity and stability of titled molecules. The MEP study has been used to identify the better electrophilic sites in titled molecules. Mulliken charge analysis has been carried out at the different levels of theories. The NLO parameters are computed for both molecules to check their suitability for NLO applications. The NBO analysis has been used to disclose the most possible intensive intermolecular interactions. The assignment of vibrational spectra of titled molecules has been carried out using assistance of DFT coupled with the VEDA program.  &nbsp

    The effect of Apartheid on South Africa’s Agricultural Sector: A Sustainable Livelihood Approach

    This paper seeks to understand the extent to which apartheid has and continues to shape the agricultural sector in South Africa.  To accomplish this, this paper made use of the Sustainable Livelihood Approach (SLA) as a theoretical lens. This approach helped to understand the impact made by apartheid on the agricultural sector and how the agricultural sector as a livelihood strategy contributed to addressing social challenges faced by the country, especially the black majority. This paper uses a case study research design to collect secondary literature and thematic content analysis was used to analyse data. The findings revealed that apartheid introduced systemic policies to segregate black South Africans in terms of agricultural land ownership. The post-apartheid government implemented the land reform policy with land redistribution being used as a main component to address agricultural land ownership and apartheid inequalities. However, black smallholding farmers even today, are still playing second fiddle to their white counterparts who continue to own large swathes of agricultural land
