Justice in the Balance: State vs. Civil Society Perspectives on the Climate Change Regime
Justice cuts across climate change in various ways. There are two viewpoints from which one can evaluate the degree of justice. The first comes from the perspective of a civil society, the other from a state’s point of view. The final conclusion is that the degree of justice varies in accordance with the viewpoints, which on their part depend on where the evaluation is carried out. While a state’s perspective on the justice of a climate regime is based on the ratio of benefits against costs derived from international climate agreements, a civil society’s perspective is based on the evaluation of how the agreement can provide an effective response to adverse effects. As has been shown, States’ views differ from those of the civil society. This means that what is just to States can differ significantly from what civil society considers to be just. As a consequence, an answer to justice and its role in designing the international climate regime should start taking into consideration the perspective from which the issue is viewed. By highlighting the diverging priorities—state-centric cost-benefit analyses versus civil society’s focus on tangible outcomes for communities—the paper aims to show that justice is a context-dependent concept within climate governance
Business and Environmental Obligations: A Study of The Transitioning Regulatory Framework
The primary obligation to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment and by extension, a means to tackle climate change lies on the concerned State. The State has the authority to frame policies and legislation to guarantee the same. It has also been witnessed that States have started accepting this responsibility since the historic Stockholm Declaration of 1972. However, environmental degradation and the ill effects of climate change have taken a lethal form. It is primarily due to man-made or human-induced activities that climate change has accelerated. And burdening only the nation-states to take action on a global issue might not yield results. It is with the heightening of this aspect, businesses or the private sector have been looped in through several regulatory mechanisms to take proper action. This was considered appropriate as businesses utilise an economy’s resources and is thus, said to have certain social obligations. Moreover, it is also felt that they have the requisite infrastructure, technology and know-how to support governmental action. India has been at the forefront of fulfilling environmental obligations since the beginning. And has mandated corporate social responsibility in 2013 and recently, the environmental, social and governance mechanisms as well. But when it comes down to witnessing changes in the fulfilment of environmental obligations, India is still facing problems. This paper aims to highlight the connection between business, human rights and the environment, if there is any. This shall be done with a focus on the current regulatory framework for the same in India.

State Response to Violence against Women on Social Media
With the increase in the advent of new social media platforms, women around the world have turned vulnerable to technological crimes like morphing, fake profiling and cyberbullying. Though the provisions of IPC and provisions of Information Technologies Act try to prevent these crimes to an extent, the efficiency of these laws is still a matter of doubt. Further, society trains women to ignore the cyberbullying that they face in social media. This forces the women to keep themselves out of social media platforms or to hide their identity while being in the platform. Technology, which is supposed to be a liberating force having the power to fill in the existing gaps and disadvantages that women face in society, has proved counterproductive by siding itself with the earlier institutions of patriarchy
Features of Projectile Motion in Quantum Calculus
In this paper, the equation of motion of a projectile in a resistive medium is revisited in view of quantum calculus. Quantum calculus, abbreviated as -calculus, is a recently recognized unconventional type of calculus in which q-derivatives of a real function can be obtained without limit. In order to describe the motion of a 2-D projectile, vertical and horizontal components of velocity in terms of -differential equations are presented in accordance with the exact classical expressions. The solutions are obtained in terms of the small-exponential function. Features of a projectile are also deducted one by one for relevance. It is also found that, when the parameter the present solutions and all the features take the form as they are in general Newtonian classical mechanics
Adaptive Bi-LSTM-based Epileptic Seizure Prediction from EEG Signals Using Deep Learning Algorithm
Millions of people worldwide who suffer from epilepsy are severely impacted by frequent, erratic seizures. Preventing seizures from occurring could greatly enhance patient care and safety. This paper presents an approach to real-time epileptic seizure prediction utilizing a unique kind of neural network known as Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM). The existing multidimensional CNN deep neural network models have average accuracy for multi-channel EEG data in predicting seizures. The proposed model was selected for its excellent ability to interpret complex seizure patterns from both historical and prospective data. We took advantage of a big dataset of real-time EEG recordings of brain activity. The testing yielded the results with the approach of 98% accuracy in predicting seizures. Using the Bi-LSTM model in real-time systems has shown that it can make precise predictions quickly, offering hope for improving the lives of those with epilepsy
Stress and Turnover in the Ed-tech Industry
This research aims to explore the relationship between job stress and intention to leave in the Educational Technology (EdTech) industry, with a specific focus on how job commitment mediates this relationship. The study involved conducting surveys among EdTech employees to gather quantitative data. The results show a significant positive correlation between stress and intention to quit, as well as a negative correlation between job stress and job commitment. Additionally, it was found that commitment partially mediated the impact of stress on intention to quit. The findings highlight the importance of promoting job commitment to reduce turnover intentions resulting from job stress in the EdTech industry
