Validating Pedagogical Documentation Practices in Teaching and Learning at Zimbabwean Primary Schools
Get PDFThe purpose of the study was to assess pedagogical documentation practices that help inform teaching and learning at Zimbabwean primary schools. In this paper we argue that one of the pervasive paradoxes in primary school teaching and learning is the qualitative discrepancy between what is contained in teacher prepared documents and what happens in practice presenting a rhetoric-reality dichotomy. We used a reflective paradigm, and the qualitative interpretive phenomenological design with a convenience sample of ten primary school teachers drawn from Masvingo urban, Zimbabwe. Document analysis was the main data collection instrument triangulated with data from open-ended interviews. The study found that there was a decline in the quality of preparation and use of pedagogical documents by primary school teachers in Zimbabwe. Pedagogical documents were viewed as tools in teaching and learning and part of the teacher professional identity and responsibility, yet the study found no empirical evidence to suggest a coherent picture of the relationship between documents and the teaching-learning processes. We recommend the need for a national consultative workshop to review the pedagogical documents in which there is greater primary school teachers’ participation with the view to rethink the whole documentation practices in the Zimbabwean primary school classrooms
Research Publications on Tourism Education: A Bibliometric Analysis of Dimensions (2010 – 2022)
Get PDFThe purpose of this paper is to examine the trends in published research articles on tourism education from 2010 to 2022. A total of 1210 articles indexed in Dimensions AI database were analyzed for the number of authors, journals, citations, collaborating institutions and source countries. The research publications in scholarly articles on tourism education shows a gradual increase with higher growth observed in the years 2017, 2020, and 2021. Prominent authors include Deale, Cynthia S., and Ateljevic, Irena, and, prominent institutions include Hong Kong Polytechnic University, China and the United States appeared to be the most productive country in terms of articles and citations. “Learning”, “Curriculum”, “Career”, “Internship program” and “Competencies & skills” were the most research topics. The paper offers valuable insights for researchers, identifying productive authors, institutions, and popular keywords used in tourism education
What Insights Does Service Quality Gap Analysis Offer for the Wellness Tourism Sector in Kerala?
Get PDFThe quality of services in tourism is one of the aspects of the industry that has drawn more academic attention. The empirical study on the service quality and satisfaction of the wellness tourism sector is underexplored. The present study empirically examined the expectations and perceptions of service quality in wellness centres, assessed the level of satisfaction of tourists, and identified the factors influencing service quality and satisfaction. The study has been conducted among selected Ayurvedic resorts in Kerala. The data were collected by distributing questionnaires to tourists who had used wellness treatments. The research outcome shows a discrepancy between wellness tourists' expectations and perceptions of service quality. There is a negative gap in the service quality of wellness centres; the perception level of wellness centres is lower than expected. Recommendations to reduce the gap and sustainable business practices have been discussed. Being synonymous with Ayurveda, Kerala serves as a crucial focal point in the tourism industry, and the wellness tourism sector plays a pivotal role in enhancing the state's tourism landscape. Bridging the negative gap in this aspect can significantly boost guest flow and contribute to the overall growth of Kerala's tourism industry. By recognizing the determinants of service quality and implementing sustainable business practices, these resorts can provide tourists with authentic and enriching wellness experiences while conserving the region's cultural and ecological heritage.

Eulerian and Unicursal Soft Graphs

This methodology provides a means of modelling vague and uncertain information. R. K. Thumbakara and B. George introduced the notion of soft graphs, which offer a parameterized perspective on graphs. This study presents the concept of Eulerian soft graphs and explores some of their characteristics.

Gamma Ray Bursts: Fundamentals, Challenges and Insights from Recent Observations
Get PDFIn astronomy, gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are some of the most intriguing and enigmatic phenomena. GRBs are the most luminous events in the cosmos, and they are bursts of strong but brief gamma-ray (GR) flashes. GRBs have a highly interesting nature and can last anywhere from a few hundred seconds to a tiny fraction of a second. A GRB produces an afterglow that lasts longer and gradually fades. The discovery of afterglow has brought about a revolution in the area of GRB. We have discussed GRBs and their classifications in this paper. Moreover, we summarized the mechanisms behind the bursts, the features seen, the afterglow, and the fireball model of GRBs. Apart from the fireball model of GRBs, alternative models are also discussed, for example, the accretion model for the long GRBs and the pulsar model used to explain the short GRBs
A Comprehensive Investigation of Solvatochromism and Solvation in Medicinally Significant Sulfa Drugs: Estimation of Excited State Dipole Moments
No full textThe solvatochromic properties of important sulfa drug molecules sulfadiazine (SDZ), sulfamerazine (SMZ) and sulfamethazine (STZ) were investigated in solvents of different polarities, including their solvation in a binary THF-Water solvent mixture. Steady-state absorption and fluorescence methods were utilized to analyse the absorption and fluorescence spectra of these compounds, which reveals the significant spectral shifts corresponding to changes in solvent polarity. Further insights on the solvatochromic characteristics of the examined drug molecules were obtained using Lippert-Mataga, Reichardt’s, Kamlet-Taft, and Catalan’s solvent polarity approaches. The study also identified synergistic effects in the THF-Water solvent mixture. Different solvatochromic techniques were employed to calculate the excited-state dipole moment of the studied molecules. The Bilot-Kawaski approach was utilized to investigate the influence of solute polarizability on the excited state dipole moment and the change in dipole moment
Problems And Prospects of Women Entrepreneurs in Kanyakumari District

Women nowadays are multi-talented; they have positions in academia, the classroom, politics, software development, business management, banking, civil service, the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), and more. Female company owners are branching out from one kind of enterprise to another. Typically, they would be found in the beauty product, salon, shop, restaurant, etc. industries. Nevertheless, things are starting to change as more and more women are venturing into technical fields, professional services, industry, and the food and beverage sector. The emphasis of women in bygone eras was on the family, and they were married off at a young age. The current research primarily focuses on the difficulties encountered by female entrepreneurs, namely the obstacles and possibilities these women encounter, as a result of the general public's lack of understanding about technical advancements, marketing strategies, etc. The study's goals were to(1) determine the socioeconomic status of the population,(2) determine the variables that encourage women to start their own businesses,(3) catalog the difficulties and opportunities faced by female entrepreneurs in the Kanyakumari District, and(4) draw conclusions about these topics
Governance and Corruption in South Africa's Public Sector: The Road Ahead
Get PDFThe development of any country hinges significantly on the availability of good governance and a well-functioning public sector. In the post-apartheid era, South Africa had to ensure that the public sector responded to the needs of the people through effective and efficient service delivery. However, immediately after apartheid, the public sector was engulfed by numerous governance and corruption-related issues, which have greatly discredited the public sector in the eyes of the public. This paper examines the governance and corruption dilemma in South Africa's public sector. It employs a narrative literature review and conceptualizes the origin and concept of good governance to answer the underlying question of this paper. The paper found that South Africa is suffering from years of corruption which has seen billions of taxpayers' money wasted through irregular expenditure in the public sector. The lack of transparency and accountability within the governance process in the public sector has consolidated corruption and impunity. Consequently, the implication is that the government will struggle to address the triple bottom issues of poverty, inequality and unemployment. In the future, this will affect South Africa's quest for inclusive socioeconomic development unless urgent policy interventions are implemented to address these challenges
A Comparative Study on Tourist Preference for Homestay Destinations among Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Sikkim
No full textIn the hill bound nature based tourism, popularity of Homestays has been growing very fast in the Hilly regions of India and same trend has been witnessed in the two hilly districts of West Bengal, Darjeeling & Kalimpong and in Sikkim too. This present study was an attempt to investigate the competitive tourist pulling capability of such homestay based tourist destinations from the perspective of tourist’s preference upon destination attractiveness. In this study the multi-criteria decision-making tool TOPSIS has been used to assess the present competitive position of these destinations and finally paired sample t-test was applied for identifying any difference in tourist’s preferences among these three destinations. Interestingly the result portrayed a tight neck to neck competition with marginal difference in TOPSIS score and paired t-test confirmed the presence of significant statistical difference in homestay tourist’s preference for these hotspots of this region. Though Darjeeling is found slightly ahead marginally of others but facing a fierce competition indicating serious concern for tourism policy-makers, infrastructure upgradation etc. in order to give an edge over the other two rivals
