An accelerating flat universe with an inverse square variation of the equation of state parameter with scale factor
The pressure parameter in the equation of state (EoS) of the cosmic fluid that varies inversely as the square of the scale factor is a possibility to explain the evolution of our flat universe, presently expanding with an increasing acceleration under the negative pressure of a dynamic dark energy. The proposed model demonstrates the switch over from a state of decelerating expansion to a state of accelerating expansion of the universe using a simple equation of state consistent with the cosmological observations by introducing an effective pressure parameter in the equation of state for the cosmic fluid which comprises of radiation, matter and dark energy
Poetic Metaphor, Thinking and Truth
Philosophy and poetry are traditionally seen as distinct, even opposing pursuits. While philosophy emphasizes logic, reason, and problem-solving, poetry leans into imagination, emotion, and expression. Despite these differences, the two often overlap, particularly in Political Philosophy. Philosophical thought often employs poetic devices (metaphor) in creating concepts—sometimes unconsciously—while poetry can serve as a powerful medium for philosophical inquiry. The paper focuses on the intersection of poetic metaphor, thought, and action, suggesting that poetry translates abstract concepts into tangible lived experiences, making it an essential foundation for meaningful public discourse. Poetry, with its ability to preserve and communicate the depth of human experience, can resist ideological control and uphold truths that philosophy alone may not capture. As a result, poetic language forms a durable common ground necessary for political dialogue and civic freedom. The paper also highlights the significance of contemporary spoken word poetry, which channels poetic expression into spaces for free speech and political engagement, aligning closely with the aims of political philosophy
Naked Resignation: A Professional Risk-Taking
Naked resignation is resigning from the job without any backup or job lined up. The present study looks at why individuals resign from their jobs without any backup plan. The study aims to explore reasons, outcomes, challenges, and available support systems for naked resignation. The study utilizes qualitative research methods and incorporates interviews to understand the experience of naked resignation. The snowball sampling method was used to select the participants for the study. The thematic analysis was used to analyze the information obtained through participant interviews. The findings show that job-related factors such as job stress, toxic work culture, and workload are leading reasons for quitting the job without a backup plan. Similarly, the outcomes are feelings of relief with uncertainty and anxiety about the future. The resignation leads to better physical and mental well-being in individuals
Living Intelligence: A Traditional Weltanschauung to Promote Appreciation of a Meaningful Universe
A materialistic and objective view of the world has predominated in science for centuries; and a strict scientific view renders the cosmos as random and personally meaningless. However, traditional medicine views nature and the cosmos as intimately related to our personal experience and growth. While the traditional view has been termed "animistic" and considered primitive by modern science, this paper will propose that the traditional view may be amore useful and productive view of reality. Looking at examples from Native American and personal experience, this paper proposes that a traditional perspective helps foster a view of the universe that promotes psychological wellness and better fits emergent science and psychology
Integrating Traditional Religio-Cultural healing into Counselling and Psychotherapy with Punjabi Sikh Clients in North America
Because available counselling and psychotherapy services in India and abroad are predominantly based on Western approaches with little to no incorporation of Eastern philosophies, Indian cultural customs, and religious traditions, counselling and psychotherapy are not usually seen as a culturally consistent option for many Punjabi Sikhs, especially those born in India. What is most needed to increase fit and effectiveness is cultural and religious adaptation - a more flexible approach that allows for the integration of Sikh and Punjabi healing understandings and resources into counselling and psychotherapy. Without critical appreciation of religio-cultural influences, mental health professionals risk imposing cultural influences, mental health professionals risk imposing Eurocentric principles to circumstances in which they are not appropriate, which can result in making culturally disrespectful demands and countering traditional systems for healing. In addition, to neglect these indigenous assets that emerge out of Punjabi and Sikh thought is to overlook important and time-tested healing resources. This article seeks to provide mental health professionals with a collection of theoretical models and tangible strategies and interventions proposed to be more congruent to the traditional Punjabi Sikh worldview. It will be useful for mental health professional with limited experience with Punjabi Sikhs, clinical supervisors, overseeing traineers providing mental health services to Punjabi Sikhs, instructors teaching cross/multi-cultural counselling/psychotherapy classes, and those wishing to develop theories or models for providing counselling and psychotherapy services to this population
Corruption during and after COVID-19: Analysis of the factors impeding anti-corruption initiatives in South Africa
The study aims to investigate the extent of corruption in South Africa. The article explores the corruption and financial misconduct recorded during COVID-19. The study is qualitative, and information is compiled using desktop analysis. Various journal articles, books, and official documents are considered to gather publicly available data. This methodology forms part of the literature review. The information gathered was assessed through conceptual and document analysis. The findings indicate that although anti-corruption Acts and strategies are available, implementation gaps exist to combat corruption successfully. The article highlights the significant role the government can play in reducing corruption as a suggestion for policymakers to consider. Corruption arises for a variety of reasons. Personal greed, the desire for an opulent lifestyle, the ego satisfaction that comes with having power and authority, insufficient institutional measures, and inadequate monitoring and evaluation measures are just a few examples. Whatever the cause, corruption cannot be tolerated. It goes against the organisation's moral standards, code of conduct, integrity, and honesty
Mapping Competitiveness of Culinary Destinations in India: A Framework Using Cognitive Mapping and MCDA (MACBETH) Technique
The objective of this article is to identify the determinants that have a major influence on the competitiveness of culinary destinations and further create a multicriteria evaluation index to evaluate the competitiveness of Indian culinary destinations. The methodology includes three-step processes, namely the structuring phase, evaluation phase and recommendation phase. The structuring phase involves the identification of fundamental points of view (FPVs) that have a significant influence on culinary destination competitiveness using cognitive mapping, where the food vloggers, being the experts from the culinary field, are contacted to form a cognitive map. Next in the evaluation phase, the attractiveness and their respective weights are measured by the categorical-based evaluation technique (MACBETH), and the index is formed, which is then used for evaluating 15 Indian culinary destinations selected based on literature reviews on Indian culinary destinations. Finally, suggestions are provided on the basis of results in the recommendation phase. The findings of this study suggests that Culinary Heritage is the most influential while travelling in India. Further, on the basis of the attractiveness of destinations, Delhi (DEL) and Kolkata (KOL) stand as the top performers with a score of 109.75 and 108.42, respectively, on the basis of FPVs identified. The unique way of identifying the competitive indicators from the expert’s perspective and evaluating the culinary destinations from their point of view substantially validates the research findings
Advancement in Age Estimation in Forensic Science Through Molecular Fingerprinting Techniques – A Review Paper
Dactyloscopy has long been used for personal identification from the latent fingerprint residues, capable of providing an insight into various factors of an individual, such as age, sex, habits and lifestyle. Various studies have been conducted to precisely identify the changes in activity of sweat glands and the chemical breakdown of fingerprint residues with respect to time. However, a reliable method for accurately estimating or approximating the age of the fingerprint donor is yet to be established. The emerging field of molecular fingerprinting analyses latent fingerprint sweat residue and profiles the components present in it, which aids in personal identification as an individualistic marker specific to each individual. This review article highlights the advancements in estimating the age of the fingerprint donor from latent fingerprint residue and addresses the technical and technological research gaps in the timeline of molecular fingerprinting techniques, as this method holds potential in aiding forensic investigation and criminal profiling from the fingerprints retrieved from the scene of crime
