Post–Trent Council Exceeding the Boundaries of the Enclosure in St. George’s Convent at Prague Castle as the Confirmation of “Age-Old” Prestige
No full textThe article deals with the infringement of enclosure boundaries set by the Council of Trent, using the example of the Benedictine convent at St. George’s Basilica at Prague Castle (the 17th and the 18th centuries). It defines a few key moments when the exceeding of the boundaries was possible without the dispensation of a relevant ordinary officer. In the field of an active enclosure, it was mainly the participation of a St. George’s abbess in the coronations of Bohemians queens, in the case of a passive enclosure, the visits of the members of the ruling dynasty and the presence of official guests at the coronations of princessabbesses. “Whenever I Had a Free Moment, I Was Writing Something.” The Works of Justina Siegemund in the Context of Female Natural-Scientific Writings of Early Modern History in German-Speaking Areas.
No full textThe study analyses four early modern scientific treatises from the German speaking regions written by women, namely the midwife Justina Siegemund, the astronomer Maria Cunitia, the entomologist Maria Sibylla Merian and the doctor Dorothea Christiana Erxleben. These female authors were rare phenomena in the fields of their interest, and they had to make considerable efforts to legitimize their research and publication activities. On the basis of comparison of their treatises the study tries to find out the potential existence of some patterns of “women’s writing” in the field of natural sciences in the Early Modern Period. BENCHMARKING RAIL FR EIGHT TRANSPORT IN CENTRAL EUROPE
No full textStrategie podpory udržitelného vývoje železniční nákladní dopravy je všeobecně známa, široce podporována a podrobně popsána v Bílé knize EK z března 2011. I přes pokračující investice a postupný rozvoj se železniční nákladní doprava ve střední Evropě potýká s řadou významných omezujících faktorů. Výzkumným záměrem tohoto příspěvku je s použitím analýzy dostupných zdrojů informací, poukázat na faktory omezující růst výkonnosti železniční nákladní přepravy a identifikovat oblasti pro možná zlepšení. Nástrojem použitým k hodnocení výkonnosti železničních nákladních dopravců v regionu střední Evropy je metoda benchmarkingu. Příspěvek poukazuje na přetrvávající rozdíly ve výkonnosti železničních nákladních dopravců působících ve střední Evropě.Strategies supporting sustainable development of rail freight transport are well known, widely respected and accurately described in the EC´s White paper from March 2011. Despite continuous investment and constant development, rail freight transport in Central Europe faces a number of significant limiting factors. The research intention of this paper is to analyze available sources of information, to point out shortcoming and to suggest possible improvements. Benchmarking is used as a tool to compare performance levels of rail freight carriers in Central European region. No full textRieka Váh je najdlhšia slovenská rieka, ktorá svojím povodím zaberá až jednu tretinu územia Slovenska. Jej význam spočíva nielen z pohľadu výroby elektrickej energie, ale aj ako dopravnej cesty, ktorá by pomohla k rozvoju hospodárstva najmä severozápadnej aj južnej časti Slovenska. Cieľom projektu vážska vodná cesta je splavniť rieku Váh od Komárna po Žilinu. Obchodná plavba sa s určitými obmedzeniami realizuje len v jej spodnej časti. Naďalej je potrebné zrekonštruovať, resp. vybudovať zdvíhacie zariadenia a kanály v jej strednej a hornej časti.The river Vah is the longest Slovak river, which occupies up to one third of Slovakia with its catchment area. Its importance lies not only in the production of electricity but also as a transport route that would help to develop the economy especially in the northwest and southern parts of Slovakia. The basic goal of the project Vah waterway is to make the Vah river navigable from Komarno to Zilina. With some limitations commercial navigation only carries out on its lower stretch. History matters (?) Various Ways of Looking at History in Graham Swift’s Waterland
No full textThe paper focuses on how history is dealt with in Waterland, one of Graham Swift’s best-known novels. Even though the novel is not a pamphlet on the philosophy of history, it however explores the many ways in which history is indispensable for people in their endeavors to make sense of their past and their identity. However, Waterland presents different views of history and story-telling, which are often opposite and undermine one another. The paper will discuss how the novel, at times, suggests that tracing and reconstructing the past is a possible and objective activity, while, at other times, seeming to side with the idea that the past cannot be retrieved and that History is but an arbitrary ordering and construction of facts from the past, which are in themselves disorderly and structureless. In this regard, the novel has often been considered as taking part in the postmodernist debate about the truth in History. The article also deals with the contradictory perspective of History explored in Swift’s novel: that of History as a “Grand Narrative” of Progress and the opposite view of History as cyclical and regressive.

No full textATFM - Uspořádání toku letového provozu je organizovaná služba, která je součástí služeb v rámci Air Traffic Management (ATM). Tato služba je poskytována letadlům a leteckým společnostem v zájmu zajištění řízeného, bezpečného, ekonomického a pravidelného letového provozu. Do procesu řízení letů vstupují nejrůznější faktory, ať se již jedná o vlivy očekávané nebo nahodilé. S těmito vlivy, zejména negativními, které působí na leteckou dopravu, se musí počítat. Proto vnímáme ATFM jako nástroj ke snižování účinku těchto vlivů, případně k jejich maximální eliminaci. Uspořádání toku letového provozu ATFM si můžeme představit jako koordinovanou činnost jednotlivců nebo provozních složek, zapojených do procesu letecké dopravy s cílem optimalizovat proces řízení letů. Výstupem z této činnosti je zajištění plynulého a bezpečného letového provozu.ATFM - Air Traffic Flow Management is an organized service as a part of Air Traffic Management (ATM). ATFM is provided for aircrafts and air carriers to ensure controlled safe economic and regular flight operation. There are many factors either expected or accidental which have influence to ATFM. We have to take into account all these factors especially negative ones. Therefore we perceive the ATFM as a tool to reduce the effect of these influences even to their maximum elimination. ATFM - Air Traffic Flow Management we can imagine as the coordinated activities of individuals or operational segments involved in the process of air traffic in order to optimize the process of Flight Management. No full textThis paper pursues the chosen airline network analysis (Air France) and it contains information about the main hub, current fleet operated, numbers of passengers carried over last five years and also the visualisation of the airline network for short and long-haul flights based on a leg distance; with the focus on the key (strategy) routes. The case study also focuses on the estimation of required future capacity – as the passenger number will grow, the load factor will be increasing, but in reality, it will just rarely reach more than 90 percent. The estimated number of new planes that will be required in a future by a chosen airline are also incorporated. The very last part is dedicated to recommendations for the airline marketing strategy in connection to their further cooperation with the biggest player on the airplane´s worldwide production on the market, Airbus company
The Role of Setting in the Golden Age Detective Novel

Employing the concept of active and passive relationships of setting and plot, G. J. Demko’s notion of cultural and physical space as well as other theories of literary representation of place, the article discusses the role of setting in the Golden Age crime fiction, namely in Agatha Christie’s The Mysterious Affair at Styles and Third Girl.

No full textČlánok sa zaoberá funkčným výpočtom netypizovaného navijaka pracovného stroja, ktorý podstúpil renováciu z dôvodu poškodenia. Toto poškodenie nastalo vplyvom preťaženia v prevádzke z dôvodu nešpecifikovaného dovoleného zaťaženia. Táto skutočnosť môže predstavovať určitý stupeň nebezpečenstva, pretože nie je možné kvantifikovať bezpečnú oblasť zaťaženia. Preto bola v predchádzajúcom kroku vykonaná tvorba výkresovej dokumentácie meraním z reálneho zariadenia, čím je možné okamžite zistiť všetky nevyhnutné vstupné parametre pre funkčný výpočet. Ten bude slúžiť ako spätná väzba pre analytický dimenzionálny výpočet za účelom stanovenia hodnoty maximálnej prípustnej hmotnosti zaveseného bremena na danom navíjacom zariadení.This article deals with a functional calculation of the untyped reel of a working machine, which was renovated because of damage. This damage was occurred due to overload due to unspecified load. This fact can represent a certain degree of danger, because it is not possible to quantify the safe load area. Therefore, in the previous step the creation of the drawing documentation was created by measurement of real device. Based on this it is possible immediately to obtain all necessary parameters for a functional calculation. It will be the basis for feedback of analytical dimensional calculation in order to determine the maximal permissible value of the load mass on the given winding device
