The North Karawang Waters are one of the waters crossed by the Indonesian Archipelago Sea Lane (ALKI) where large ships and tankers cross this water area. In the northern part of the Karawang Waters, there are also oil and gas drilling activities belonging to one of the national oil and gas companies, so there is a high risk of oil spill disasters. On April 22, 2021, there was an underwater oil pipeline leak around the oil well area operated by PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ). This study aims to analyze the distribution of oil spills using the Sentinel 1A Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR). The research location includes the Karawang Waters where there has been an oil spill case. The method used to detect oil spills from Sentinel-1A satellite imagery is the adaptive threshold. The stages carried out for satellite image processing are image correction such as radiometric calibration, multilooking, filtering and dark spot detection using an adaptive threshold. Wind direction and speed data are used to see the movement of the oil spill area. The results of the study show that SAR Sentinel 1A imagery provides good enough information to detect oil spills and their distribution in the waters north of Karawang.

This study aims to analyze the effect of adding HHO gas on fuel consumption in automatic motorcycles. HHO gas is produced through an electrolysis process using KOH and H₂SO₄ solutions, then delivered into the combustion chamber to support a more efficient combustion process. The testing was carried out under two conditions: stationary and operational. The results showed that the addition of HHO gas significantly reduced fuel consumption, with an average saving of 67.99% under operational conditions and 66.22% under stationary conditions. The electrolysis process used in this study was proven effective in generating HHO gas, which contributes to improving combustion quality. The average power consumption of the HHO generator was recorded at 8.41 Watts during operation and 8.95 Watts during stationary conditions. Meanwhile, the power supplied from the battery to the HHO system was 54.06 Watts during operational mode and 50 Watts during stationary mode. The generator only consumed approximately 15% of the battery capacity in operational conditions and 17% in stationary conditions. These results indicate that the HHO system can operate efficiently without placing an excessive load on the vehicle’s electrical system and has potential as an energy-saving solution for gasoline-powered vehicles. Full text link
Design-based learning has been widely recognized for its impact on the cognitive domain within educational settings. However, limited research has explored the interaction between design processes and students\u27 self-regulation. This paper reviews 15 relevant studies to investigate the relationship between these two constructs. Findings suggest that design-based learning implemented through activities, projects, or problem-based tasks, fosters a complex, dynamic, and mutually reinforcing relationship with self-regulation. This interaction appears particularly robust in both science-oriented and art-related educational contexts. The review highlights overlapping cognitive and metacognitive elements that may influence this relationship. Further empirical research is needed to examine how self-regulation and design processes operate in practical pedagogical environments

Redefining Academic Recruitment Using Fuzzy Tahani Logic: A Multi-Criteria Model for Calculus Teaching Assistants’ Selection

This study aims to implement the Tahani fuzzy logic method as a decision support system for selecting candidates to become teaching assistants in a Calculus course. The selection process involves evaluating participants based on four test items covering major topics in Calculus: definite integrals, areas between curves, and others. Each participant’s score was fuzzified into three linguistic categories: poor, fair, and good. Membership functions were constructed using triangular distributions, and fuzzified scores were processed using a rule-based inference system. The final recommendation score for each participant was obtained by defuzzifying the fuzzy outputs. Participants with a final score recommendation greater than or equal to 0.5 were classified as eligible. The results show that the fuzzy logic approach offers a flexible and effective way to handle uncertainties in assessment, with 8 participants meeting the passing criteria. This method provides an objective framework for decision-making in academic selection contexts
