Inhibition of learning motivation by thought suppression

    Get PDF
Thought suppression is a cognitive activity that individuals intentionally suppress to think about a target. Many previous studies showed that the participants who intended to suppress a target thought about the target more frequently than the participants who did not (paradoxical effect). Although many studies repeatedly showed the paradoxical effect with between-subject design, relatively small number of studies investigated this effect with within-subject design. Thus, the present study aimed to examine the effect of thought suppression on the learning motivation by using within-subject design. In the experiment, thirty-two participants conducted two report tasks, namely participants conducted report tasks with or without thought suppression. The result showed that participants in the condition of thought suppression spent smaller amount of time on the report task than the participants in the control condition did, suggesting that thought suppression inhibited the motivation to conduct report task.departmental bulletin pape

A Study of Students’ Anxiety about “Child Care Practical Training” II

    Get PDF
In this study, we clarified the anxieties before and during the child care practical training, especially the anxieties and troubles related to the childcare program “Human Relations”, and examined the cooperation between the practical training guidance and the subjects, and how to reflect the learning from the child care practical training in the lectures, mainly in the lecture of “Human Relations”. As a result, the most common anxieties before the child care practical training are related to the childcare skills associated with the training content. However, there was no change in the content related to the care of children from before to during the child care practical training, and it was found that anxiety and trouble continued and were difficult to be resolved. In addition, they felt anxious and troublesome in the relationship with nursery school teachers or child care staffs, and were puzzled by the different teaching methods and responses of individual nursery school teachers or child care staffs. From the anxiety and troubles of students, it became very clear that it would be difficult to reflect the learning from the child care practical training in lectures without clarifying what contents would be taught in each subject, and also how the teaching contents would be linked in the various subjects. Thus, the following issues were addressed: lectures on “Human Relations”” in the content of childcare, and practical skills related to teaching methods, handling various relationships and how to deal with them, and also needs of creating a syllabus with a view to linking human relations of “children with disabilities” and “Care for Children with Disabilities” between the subjects. Furthermore, utilization of episode records is important issue in order to reflect the learning from the practical training.departmental bulletin pape

As a result, in the third year, we positioned it as a period for creating “themes” and “subjects” of graduation thesis, and clarified the curriculum. It turned out that it was important to have students read “literature” and “academic papers” and make “headings” and “explanatory texts” of the contents. And, it was clarified that it was important to make the student announce it. In addition, the curriculum of “composition of thesis” and the preparation of the thesis in the fourth year was clarified. An Analysis of Students' Concerns about Childcare Practice Ⅰ : How do they change through childcare practice

    Get PDF
In the training of nursery school teachers, the earning of specified credits in classroom lectures and also practical training are essential. Practical training is considered to be the most important principle in the idea of the back-and-forth between classroom learning and practical learning. However, it has been reported in previous studies that it may be difficult for junior college students who aim to become nursery school teachers to have a clear image of practical training, especially for the first time, and the same was also suspected in the pre-guidance for practical training given to students at our junior college as well. Therefore, in order to examine how the training guidance should be by clarifying how the concerns of the students regarding the training changes before and after the training, we conducted a questionnaire survey of students who completed Childcare Practical Training I in February and March of the fiscal year of 2020. As a result, it became very clear that for the students, before the practical training, most of their concerns were vague and about childcare skills such as "how to write a journal" and "finger play songs and storytelling of picture books " while during the practical training, the concerns became more specific, such as "how to interact with children and clients". In other words, before the practical training, it is beneficial to incorporate as much content as possible in the "practical training guidance" and all classes related to childcare so that students can visualize the practical training, and to also include observation practical training and volunteer activities. In addition to post-practice guidance, it seems important to give lectures and practice whether there are various methods in order to clear the questions about how to interact with children, how to deal with them, and how to support them during the practical training.departmental bulletin pape

    Get PDF
In this study, from grasping the actual situation of children with disabilities to setting guidance goals and evaluation based on them, so that students who practice teaching at special schools can actively and efficiently face prior guidance. The purpose was to apply the instruction program of the above and examine its effect. The instruction program consisted of ①grasping the actual situation of children and students, ②determining the priority of instruction goals, ③reasonable accommodation for instruction goals and examination of guidance methods, and ④setting evaluations based on goal setting. The subjects of this study were 32 fourth-year undergraduate students aiming to obtain a teacher's license from a special needs school. The 32 students from the previous year who did not introduce this program were used as a control group for comparison. As a result, most of the students in the target group gave a positive evaluation, which helped reduce anxiety about the educational training at the special school. On the other hand, in Corona, the trainees cannot secure sufficient opportunities to experience contact with the students before the training school, so they can practice with insufficient skills to set teaching goals from grasping the actual situation of the students. It was also found that it is difficult for the results of prior guidance to appear due to confusion among students because there may be situations such as entering. Based on these results, we considered the ideal way of prior guidance in special school education training.departmental bulletin pape

A study on the role of “joint emotions” in the growth process of infants and children

    Get PDF
“Joint emotions” in education are basically emotions in “personal relationships with others”, that is, in intimate relationships between children and adults, but at the same time they are emotions in intimate relationships with human nature and things. The importance of this “communal emotion” was discovered by Froebel. Therefore, in todayʼs world where childrenʼs feelings of empathy are feared to be declining, we reconsidered Froevelʼs “joint emotions” and clarified the ideal way of teaching for the formation of those emotions in todayʼs education and childcare. As a result, we clarified the necessity of “snuggling behavior” to accept childrenʼs emotions, treat children kindly, listen to childrenʼs words, and act with children, strategies for “negative emotion control”, and “emotion control” between children. In addition, it was clarified that training teachers and nursery teachers with the qualities and abilities of “facilitator” is an important issue in human resource development.departmental bulletin pape
