Political positions of far right movements in Georgian reality
No full textThe article deals with the far right movement foundation process in Georgia, where Europeanization process still takes place. Study aims to determine how European understanding of radical/extreme right meets the Georgian reality in this point of view. Research focus on major and most visible political groups – “Georgian March”, “Georgian National Unity”, “Anti-liberals” and “Edelweiss”. The article tries to formulate the relevant questionnaire to measure the essential features of these movement in the erms of political positions on foreign, domestic, social-ethical, identity policies. Also, it can be examined how the major members of these movements evaluate neo-populist and principle of rule of law. Conclusion includes the comparative analysis and linkages between these political movements
Ernest Renan on the Concept of Nation and the Georgian Political Thought
No full textThe article highlights the main aspects of the lecture given by the famous French scholar Enest Renan titled as “What is a Nation” (1882) and the subsequent discussion emerging in the Georgian society. His lecture was translated into Georgian on the same year and became a hotly debated. It influenced on the viewpoint of many Georgian public figures of the time. The re-translation of his lecture into Georgian in 1901 was conditioned of those time contraditiction occurring in the Georgian society. The viewpoint of Renan was referred by national forces as the main argument against the Georgian Marxists; the latter were on the position of national nihilism at that time
Descriptive features of modern social problems and global processes
No full textThe article discusses some of the issues related to the socio-political and economic processes in the context of global processes and globalization at the modern stage. In particular, the analysis presents several directions of the problem:Globalization itself has gone a long way in terms of its content. Despite its scale and irreversibility, it is perceived as a multi-faceted process at the present stage. In the first half of 2020, developments in the world related to the pandemic process have revealed significant effects, especially in terms of social security. The irreversibility of globalization and the importance of its involvement were determined by the need to ensure economic security and the promotion of national cultures. In terms of social security, in our view, a number of contradictions have arisen. However, from a modern point of view, it can be said that in the long run, the global approach to these issues will be positive, as the processes of globalization will continue with new approaches and the principle of compatibility with existing challenges. The existing challenges will pave the way for the different manifestations of globalization processes, which will create another new stage in the history of its existence.
Educational Issues in the Pre - election Programs of Political Parties (According to the 2012 - 2016 electoral cycle)
No full textIt is very topical to study the issue of political party system and its institutional policy of post-Soviet Georgia. Not less important field is the educational policy itself. However, due to existed political reality in the country, the situation leaves much to be desired. On this basis, the discussion over the educational policy issue is vital.The aim of our research is to find out the attitude of political parties, their promises and aims, to find solution to such an important issue for the country's as education, based on the certain kind of documents.The article deals with the content analyzes and sectional division methods. Here are studied the electoral programs of 2012-2016 electoral cycle of political entities. In the paper are also analyzed the pre-electoral positions of political entities toward the field of education, based on their programs. The work shows the direction of political parties toward the education sphere find the mechanisms to solve this particular problem.At the modern stage of the country, the main goals of educational policy development are: pre-school education, general education, professional development, higher education and to support science. In order to turnGeorgiainto regional scientific center the government needs to hold a series of certain high level events.The leaders and members of existed political parties inGeorgiaare aware of the role of education in the process of modern state development. The state’s educational policy is based upon the “Georgia’s social and economic development strategy –Georgia2020” according to commitments in the framework of the signed association partnership agreement between Georgia and European Union.The main message of political parties’ electoral programs aimed the changes in scientific and educational system, to turn it into a solid base for Georgian democratic, economic and social development, to make it quality oriented accessible and inclusive system. Also to develop such steps which will allow Georgian educational system to gain a leadership position in region and become a regional educational center.
“Grey Zones” and Problem of New Common Identity in the Black Sea Region

Spaces, being left out of the synthesis of certain system, create uncertainty and infinite zones, which can be described as “Gray Zones”, where actually collapsed before existed order and the new one had not emerged yet. Moreover, actors (states) of such zones do not belong to the specific Defense, Security or Economic structures and region has huge gap regarding to the common regional identity. Georgia: Two Years of the Visa-Free Regime with the EU: Problems and Challenges
No full text The paper analyses various problems related to Georgia’s visa liberalization with the EU on the basis of press materials. It discusses the issues of rising of the number of illegal migrants and asylum seekers from Georgia into the EU and their criminal activities conducted in various European countries. These problems might lead to the suspension of the visa free regime, therefore the government of Georgia undertakes some measures to minimize these negative incidents. The visa liberalization is considered as a serious step ahead on the way of rapprochement between Georgia and the EU. Besides, visa liberalization has important political dimension as well: its possible suspension or total abolition will bring devastating blow to the pro-Western orientation of Georgia and will reinforce the pro-Russian forces in the country

No full text The agenda of modern progressive humanity, either at the state or public sphere (in different directions), includes several systems and measures aimed at harmonization with nature, ecology, protection, and restoration of natural resources. In order to ensure the maintenance of the natural balance in the country the representatives of the Georgian political spectrum, in their program documents pay great attention to the issue of the natural environment and the attitude of the society. Thus, the purpose of the issue is very relevant and topical. The study presents several empirical materials, various researched documents, and materials of official websites, communications of relevant international organizations, governmental documents, and analysis of pre-election documents of parties.The paper reflects the existing reality in Georgia, the state’s effective steps to accurately resolve the issue, as well as the attitude of the political parties towards the environmental issues. A number of certain data confirm that having signed the international agreements on environmental protection, modern Georgian policy is motivated and does its best to implement the signed documents at the global and regional levels since they play a vital role in the formulation of national environmental policy
