The lack of journalistic independence or reconcilability can negatively affect the election results. The analysis of media monitoring in 2017 shows that the subjective trends are still sustained in Georgian Media Space, which is due to the interest of political or financial forces, which stand behind the concrete Media outlets. As far as Georgian media space is reflected by the grip of political forces. This feature can be considered as a mechanism of a certain balance in the process of election coverage, which unfortunately shows that the process is quite insignificant in this regard and there is still a lot of to be done `in order Georgian media space to be closer to European type Media broadcasts for coverage of election processes

    No full text
Today many states, likeGeorgia, are working to increase women's political representation. To speed up the process Georgian government and civil sector initiated legislative norm in order to encourage political parties to rise women's representation. In 2016 parliamentary election was held under the amended law that included a provision of increased supplementary public funding of 30% to parties that include three women for every 10 candidates on the lists. Unfortunately this initiative did not work inGeorgia. Therefore, we believe that the means of resolving the problem is the introduction of obligatory gender quotas.Gender quota is one of the possibilities to achieve gender equality. Quotas aim at defending women from political isolation. Because a majority of the world’s population are women, it is logical that this group should have appropriate representation in the decision-making process. This argument gradually started to gain the support in the World; therefore, the quota system for women has been successfully used in almost every country around the world. Several recent studies have shown that the majority of the population supports the idea of increasing the representation of women and the introduction of mandatory gender quotas for political parties

The strength and popularity of political parties largely depend on their financial capabilities. The oppositional political parties in the countries of democratization often find it difficult to obtain adequate funding, unlike political parties in power. Such a situation weakens the competition between the parties, gives a significant advantage to ruling party and prevents democratic processes. That is why the issue of financing of parties is an important and interesting for the public in Georgia in general and specifically during the local self-government elections in 2017.    After the 2016 parliamentary elections, the number of qualified political associations in Georgia has reached twenty, from which 15 qualified parties participated in the local self-government elections in 2017; they were represented as 14 qualified subjects. In the work are presented political parties participating in the elections, the information on the financing of which is available.

Georgia has made the first steps toward self-government for the beginning of the last century, Georgia has made the first steps toward self-government for the beginning of the last century, however, due to the historical and political situation we couldn't get essential results and experience in this respect. The self-government activities in the country began only from the second part of the 1990s, and step by step along with the carried out reforms has been formed the present self-government form. In the 2014 year has been obtained "The Organic Law of Georgia, Local Self-Government Code."It is interesting, from this perspective, how will we evaluate Tbilisi mayoral elections. We have chosen Tbilisi as an object of our study because it is capital of Georgia and tightly populated city. Our goal was:-   To determine which election strategies (technologies) were used;-   To highlight the decisive factors;-   To determine the role of specific environment;-   To evaluate gained experience; Our theoretical frame is based on the theories of Political Marketing and Marketing Parties, according to which we have analyzed the mentioned election campaigns. In the post-Soviet space political landscape and approach of political parties to political technologies differs from the West one. We tried to analyze Tbilisi mayoral elections in the context of political marketing, to allocate its basic characteristics and find an explanation for them
