Enhancing Mathematics Achievement Through Cooperative Learning: A Study of The Jigsaw Technique in Exponent Multiplication and Division
Motivating students and fostering deeper conceptual understanding remain key challenges in mathematics education, particularly with abstract topics such as exponent multiplication and division. Achievement gaps often result from traditional lecture-based methods that fail to address diverse learning needs. Cooperative learning strategies, especially the Jigsaw technique, have been shown to improve student engagement, peer interaction, and content mastery. The method promotes active participation, accountability, and deep comprehension through structured group collaboration, making it particularly effective for challenging mathematical concepts. This study investigates the impact of the Jigsaw technique on eighth-grade students’ performance in exponent multiplication and division. A posttest-only experimental design was employed with 30 secondary school students. Data were collected through a researcher-developed posttest containing multiple-choice and short-answer questions aligned with national learning objectives. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (mean, percentage, standard deviation) and a one-sample t-test to evaluate statistical significance. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in student performance (M = 15.13, SD = 2.10, t = 8.186, p < .05), surpassing the 60% proficiency benchmark. These findings suggest that the Jigsaw method not only enhances mathematical understanding but also cultivates essential 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, communication, and teamwork

Sustainability of the Village Owned Entrepises Program in Sumedang Regency, Indonesia: The Role of Government, Village Administration, and Voe Directors
This study investigates the sustainability of Village-Owned Enterprises (VOEs) in Sumedang Regency, West Java, Indonesia, focusing on the roles played by central government agencies, village administrations, and VOE directors. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research draws on in-depth interviews, document analysis, field observations, and focus group discussions to explore stakeholder influence on the implementation and longevity of VOE programs. The findings reveal that while government policies and funding schemes provide foundational support for VOE development, their sustainability is frequently compromised by inconsistent program implementation, political interference, underqualified management, and business models that do not align with local socio-economic contexts. In contrast, VOEs demonstrate greater resilience and long-term viability when managed by professional directors and supported through continuous institutional engagement. Given the urgent need to revitalize rural economies and reduce dependency on state aid, the study recommends targeted interventions such as salary subsidies for VOE directors and establishing Integrated VOE Units (VOETs) to enhance operational capacity and governance structures. This research contributes to the broader discourse on rural development and local economic empowerment by identifying critical gaps and practical solutions for strengthening VOE sustainability. The findings offer valuable insights for policymakers, local governments, and development practitioners aiming to foster inclusive and durable rural enterprise ecosystems in Indonesia and similar contexts
