SALUTOGENESIS I: A Unified Theory on Medicine, Health and Healing

    Get PDF
The construct of Salutogenesis is proposed as a unifYing theory for medicine, health and healing. It is posited as a spectrum from the most subtle nuances of healrh to rhe most adverse medical issues where aU interventions at our disposal would fir within this model. The primordial aether is assumed to be the underpinning function and the model relies on and maximizes the placebo effect for efficacy. A common nomenclature is introduced, through which health status can be measured and changes resulting from interventions be also evaluated regardless of the mode of intervention. It is a non-linear system blind to the traditional divisions made in health and medical disciplines

STUDY OF BODY’S ENERGY CHANGES IN NON-TOUCH ENERGY HEALING 1. PRANIC HEALING PROTOCOL APPLIED FOR A BREAST CANCER SUBJECT

    Get PDF
Changes in the body’s energetic conditions were measured through four sessions of non-touch Pranic Healing performed on a breast cancer subject. The healing protocol included steps to inhibit the lower chakras and to expand the upper chakras by manipulating subtle energy levels and patterns by the healer’s hands and intention. The parameter BP of the AMI (Apparatus for Meridian Identification), chosen as the marker for subtle energy (Qi-energy) level in the primary meridians of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), showed significant relative changes in the meridians resulting in an unusual reversal of the upper/lower Qi-energy imbalance as a result of the healing trial. The relative decrease in Qi-energy level was most conspicuous in those meridians supposedly related to the lower chakras which the healer targeted for “inhibition.” Conversely the most conspicuous relative increase in Qi-energy level was seen in the meridians related to the upper chakras targeted for “expansion.” This is the first observation of Qi-energy changes by means of an electrically measurable variable, which provides strong objective evidence for the reality of Qi-energy manipulation claimed in non-touch energy healing. Other AMI parameters (AP and IQ) also showed significant changes in directions conducive for healing

A Double Blind Study of the "Biocircuit", a Putative Subtle-Energy-Based Relaxation Device

    Get PDF
Biocircuits are passive devices which are reported to cause relaxation in users, supposedly by facilitation of bodily subtle energy flow. A repeated-measures, within-subjects control, doubleblind study was performed to test whether a "relaxation" biocircuit would produce more relaxation than a placebo-control biocircuit. The study design controlled for expectation, order first-time effects and ultradian rhythms. Dependent measures included four physiological variables relating to arousal and relaxation (frontalis muscle tension, one monopolar channel of EEG monitored for theta episodes, finger temperature, finger skin conductance) and a tenitem comparative questionnaire used to rank subjective experiences relating to relaxation in session. Twelve subjects completed four sessions each. The first session for all subjects was used only for familiarization and its data were not analyzed. Subjects then completed three more sessions each, treatment order being counterbalanced and randomly assigned across subjects. The three sessions exposed subjects to a "relaxation" biocircuit, a placebo-control "dummy" biocircuit and a "tension" biocircuit. The EEG theta measure showed significantly more theta episodes associated with the relaxation device than with the placebo control (Wilcoxon signed ranks test: p .025 one-tailed). The frontalis muscle tension measure showed significantly lower tension levels associated with the relaxation device than with the placebo control (Wilcoxon signed ranks test: p .01 one tailed). The skin conductivity and temperature measures did not reach significance in any direction across any pair of treatments. Five of the ten questionnaire items comparing the relaxation device with the placebo-control significantly favored the relaxation device (all by Sign test with a priori probability of .5): subjective estimate of relaxation (p .0002), sensations of warmth (p .03), non-ordinariness of experience (p .02), perceived effectiveness (p .02), perceived benefit (p S; .02). No questionnaire items at the .05 significance level favored the placebo control over the relaxation device. The findings of the study demonstrate the superiority of the relaxation biocircuit over a placebo control for producing relaxation under fully controlled double-blind conditions. EEG AMPLITUDE, BRAIN MAPPING, & SYNCHRONY IN & BETWEEN A BIOENERGY PRACTITIONER & CLIENT DURING HEALING

    Get PDF
A controlled case study was conducted with a bioenergy practitioner and a client during a healing experience. Experimental effects were documented with both participants measured simultaneously using a 24-channel digitized EEG evaluations under four experimental and control conditions: relaxation, meditation, healing-at-a-distance, and healing (client present). Clinical observations andlor ratings of each condition were made by both participants Brain maps of the bioenergy practitioner across conditions indicated the presence of a strong right hemispheric activation pattern compared to the left. High amplitude alpha rhythms (up to 100 1lV) were observed in the left and right occiputs, and high amplitude beta and gamma rhythms were also present in the right occiput and in other areas of the right hemisphere during all conditions, but especially during relaxation and meditation. Healing-at-a-distance and healing (client present) were associated with high frequency, high amplitude beta and gamma rhythms localized in the right frontal area, together with low amplitude left occipital and central theta rhythm. Intra-and inter-personal synchrony between bipolar electrode pairs was determined for each condition. Beta, alpha, theta, and gamma synchrony in the bioenergy practitioner was higher and less variable than that in the client in all conditions, and was highest and most stable during healing-at-a-distance. Interpersonal synchrony was highest during healing, especially in alpha frequencies between left occipital areas of bioenergy practitioner and client

HUMAN COMMUNICATION AND THE ELECTROPHYSIOLOGICAL ACTIVITY OF THE BRAIN

    Get PDF
Electrophysiological evidence is presented showing an interaction between brain activity of human subjects during direct communication, an interaction which occurs when subjects are able to feel each other's presence without the use of any sensory stimuli. Subjects who had previously established direct communication were asked to sit in complete darkness in two different electromagnetically insulated chambers. One of the subjects was stimulated and it was found that the potential thus evoked could be "transferred" to the nonstimulated subject. These findings support the postulates of the Syntergic Theory.
