PSYCHONEUROIMMUNOLOGY: From Biochemistry to Energy Medicine

    Get PDF
Psychoneuroimmunology is the scientific basis of holism. This new discipline is an exploration of the interconnections between the central and autonomic nervous systems, the immune system and the endocrine system. Exploring hormonal and chemical intercellular communication reveals a vast framework for further scientific research. A new family of relaxation hormones have been discovered which lends a biochemical basis for many of the therapies in mind-body medicine. The physiologic effects of emotional stress and, on the other hand, meditation have profound effects in health and illness. The author's view that the pineal gland, not the pituitary, is the master gland will develop the concept of the pineal gland as an energy-biochemical transducer. A synthesis of ancient energy systems provides the basis of a unified energy field theory of physiology and healing. The discipline of energy medicine therefore rests on a scientific and experiential basis

SCORING THICK AND SCORING THIN: The Boundaries of Psychic Claimants

    Get PDF
The research participants in this study were 34 volunteer psychic claimants who were administered the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES), the Boundary Questionnaire (BQ), and a supplemental data sheet. Our research question was, "For psychic claimants, is there a significant correlation between DES and BQ scores?" The mean score for this group on the BQ indicated "very thin boundaries," a trait that the past literature has linked with psychic experiences. Their mean score on the DES was within normal limits, and a significant relationship was found between the two measures. Thinness of boundaries was positively correlated with a strong tendency to dissociate. Those claimants who identified themselves as "channelers" demonstrated significant correlations between both measures and tooth grinding, as well as between the BQ and their frequency of nightmares. In terms of Wickramasekera's "high risk" model, this group might be more prone to somatization than those with other self-descriptions

    EEG ALTERATIONS DURING ABSENT "HEALING"

    Get PDF
Five separate individuals who regard themselves as healers or spiritual healers, in a time controlled situation, were asked to send healing energy to a total of 110 subjects who were located from 100 feet to 160 miles from the healer. In all instances, there were moderate to quite striking changes in the subject's EEG usually occurring within the first five minutes of the sending of healing energy, bur sometimes appearing most dramatic twenty minutes after the completion of the healing. Almost always there was a marked increase in delta activity in all areas of the brain with less significant increases in theta and alpha activity. In 50 of the subjects, the healer was directed to send energy initially either to the frontal or occipital area and then later to reverse the intended area of the brain. In these cases, there was a much greater increase of brain wave activity in the part of the brain to which the healers' energy was directed, although most of the time the increased healing energy also affected other lobes of the brain. It appears that human mental intent to heal, especially by trained healers, is transmitted through space from over 100 feet to 160 miles

MEDITATION, SLOW WAVE SLEEP AND ECSTATIC SEIZURES: The Etiology ofKundalini Visions

    Get PDF
This paper describes phosphene images observed by a medical writer during the onset and evolution of a partial seizure with an ecsratic emotional accompaniment. This seizure was inadvertendy induced by rhe author's attempt to practice mediration during the early morning hours while in a sleep-deprived condition. A neurological workup did nor find evidence of epileptic lesions or interictal activiry. The phosphene sequence matches descriptions of light visions in the ancient Vedic scriptures and in yoga meditarion rexts of rhe Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist traditions. suggesting the possibiliry of a common etiology. Analysis of the phosphene spatiotemporal characteristics in light of recem research ill the neuroscience of sleep, vision, and epilepsy suggests that the images were generated by the following sequence of neural events: (1) acrivation of slow wave sleep rhythm oscillarors in conicorhalamocortical circuits (CTC); (2) destabilization of sleep rhythm oscillators, triggering emergence of hypersynchronous spike-waves and fast runs in CTC circuits; (3) a huild-up of rhythmical activity in the right hippocampus (H) due to the synergistic interaction of synchronous sharp waves, high-frequency ripples, and affcrem visual stimuli; (4) an outbreak of paroxysmal dischatges in the comralareral left H; and, (6) precipitation of a bilateral mesotemporal seizure

HEALING AND CONSCIOUSNESS: From Relativity to Reality

    Get PDF
The phenomenon of healing and the numenon of consciousness are the ends of a complex and long spectrum consisting of stages in awareness. Both the numenon and the phenomenon need to be synthesized into our daily lives to maintain homeostasis, to promote healing and ultimately, if possible to achieve transcendence. Evidently, this is a life long endeavor. This talk will attempt to examine recent advances in Energy Medicine research with a view to understand the direction of inquiry in movement within phenomenon. However, the ultimate goal is to transcend phenomenon itself; hence, a review of literature around the world is undertaken to focus thoughts on numenon. The underlying unity of expressions in spiritual eX~)erJlences over many centuries and in many parts of the world point to the idea that numenon is fact the objective while phenomenon is the subjective of our This also confirms the current scientific view that science is subjective its core. It is time then to reverse our ideas of subjective and objective. Science that has a subject investi subjective science while a science that goes beyond the subject who investigates is nhcprt"cvp science. Another way to look at this is a science that has an object in focus is a sut)lec:rnre science while one that has no object to focus on is an objective science! Needless to say, we should be moving from the subjective to the objective as we proceed in life. While this may nor be the end of all discussions in subjective/objective debate, at least it could open the doors of our perception to healing and its place in consciousness

INSTRUMENTAL RESPONSE TO ADVANCED KINESIOLOGY TREATMENTS IN A "CONDITIONED" SPACE

    Get PDF
A "conditioned" laboratory is like a "sacred" space in that it manifests a higher electromagnetic gauge symmetry state than a normal environment. To test whether or not such a laboratory is also a very sensitive detector of subtle energies, we performed advanced kinesiological treatments on three subjects, with fairly difficult health challenges, within the confines of such a laborarory that was multiply instrumented to remotely monitor energy exchanges that might occur. Highly treatment-correlated, amplitude signarure, multiple perturbation responses simultaneously appeared in the data streams from five of these instrument stations. Such a "conditioned" laboratory is definitely a sensitive detector of subtle energies

A CASE STUDY OF THE SYNCHRONIZATION OF HUMAN ENERGY IN AN ACUTE CONDITION OF CHRONIC HEART DISEASE THROUGH COMPLEMENTARY TREATMENT

    Get PDF
This is a longitudinal case study of chronic heart failure incorporating several therapies including medication (digitalis, enalapril and furosemide), acupuncture, Zen meditation, and Qigong during an acute condition lasting six weeks in the middle of a nine-month terminal illness. These therapies helped with the synchronization of human energy from patient's signs and symptoms which de-synchronized breathing (rapid breathing), sleep (nightmares), blood pressure (rapid drop), sputum production (high), edema (pedal), warmth (cold), and esophagus functioning (restriction). Many of these symptoms can be fatal without synchronization when occurring in old age (the subject was 97 years old) and during an acute phase of Chronic Heart Disease. Detailed daily recording of symptoms and treatment procedures provide a guide for techniques which can alleviate suffering through synchronization and prolong life and improve the quality of life in a patient with an acure episode of Chronic Heart Failure. This provided stable time periods to help resolve issues of death and dying. Therapies changed as the condition worsened: for acupuncture, from prescribed parricuiar points to larger areas; in mediration, from watching the breath during the crisis to long (2-3 hour) periods of meditation, and for Qigong, from fixed to specific afm movements to create warmth
