Fatwa and Transnational Solidarity: Examining Faith-Based Movement in Indonesia in Addressing the Israel-Palestine Conflict
This research explores the dynamics of transnational solidarity among Indonesian Muslims in their support of the Palestine cause, grounded in Fatwa MUI 83/2023, through the lens of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). This study investigates how religious and moral directives shape individual and collective actions. Data from questionnaires show that respondents' motivations to support Palestine stem from both humanitarian and religious convictions, amplified by the fatwa's ideological framework. The study finds that religious discourse transforms solidarity into concrete actions such as donations, boycotts, and digital activism. Furthermore, the fatwa facilitates the globalization of local actions, linking grassroots efforts to a broader international campaign for Palestinian rights. This research underscores the power of religious authority in shaping transnational solidarity movements and highlights how digital platforms enable local actions to resonate globally
Building the Islamic Character of Children through Extracurricular Programs at Islamic Elementary School, Gresik
Abstract: The extracurricular program which is divided into several specializations shows the importance of supporting the development of Islamic character in schools. This cannot be denied, because character is a complex activity that involves family, community and the school environment. Extracurricular activities are learning activities held outside school hours as an addition or complement. Extracurricular programs are organized with the aim of developing students' potential, talents, interests, abilities, personality, cooperation and independence optimally. The aim of the research is to determine the role of extracurricular programs in building students' Islamic leadership character. School and extracurricular activities are a holistic unit and mutually influence a child's leadership character. The learning process occurs in both to create reliable human resources. In theory, learning is essentially an "individual process" which means that it occurs in humans uniquely. Qualitative research is descriptive. which describes completely and holistically the phenomena that occur. The research was conducted at the AL-Kayyis Gresik Integrative Islamic Elementary School with data collection techniques using in-depth interviews, participatory observation and document analysis. Meanwhile, qualitative research data analysis uses Miles & Huberman, namely; (1) data reduction, (2) data presentation, (3) drawing conclusions. Extracurricular programs can be recreational, achievement or life skills. Thus, there is a holistic and synergistic relationship between extracurricular activities and the cultivation of students' Islamic character.

Sustainable management of mangrove forest in Indonesia: Practical and Islamic perspectives
A mangrove forest is an ecosystem found along tropical coastlines. Indonesia has the largest mangrove land cover in the world, so it is essential to manage them, as they can provide ecological benefits to the environment and support the welfare of coastal communities through economic and social benefits. This review aimed to explore practical and Islamic perspectives on the sustainable management of mangrove forests. Sustainable management of mangrove forests, incorporating both practical strategies and Islamic principles, can enhance their role in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The sustainable management of mangrove forests in Indonesia requires a holistic approach that integrates practical measures with ethical and religious principles. By combining scientific knowledge, community engagement, and Islamic values, it is possible to create a framework for the sustainable use and preservation of these vital ecosystems. Practically, it highlights the importance of conservation, reforestation, integrated coastal zone management, and community involvement. Islam, as a religion, provides guiding principles and systems that enable problem-solving, including the management of natural resources like mangrove forests. According to Islamic law, forests are part of public property. The state or authority must responsibly manage this public property. The wealth and benefits must be shared for the welfare of the people. On the other hand, it is unlawful to damage and exploit forest resources without careful consideration of the impacts on nature and humans. These strategies not only enhance mangrove protection for carbon storage but also bolster community resilience against climate impacts. This approach not only protects the environment but also enhances the well-being of the communities that depend on mangrove forests for their livelihoods
Other Undertandsings in Indonesia’s Criminal Law Pottentially Create a Repressive Regime
The element of “other understanding” in Article 188 of Law Number 1 of 2023 can be considered to violate the principle of legality. Unclear about these types of beliefs and groups that are considered to adhere to these beliefs can lead to many interpretations, contrary to Pancasila. The article is not in line with the criminal law principle of legality or the concept of lex scripta, which emphasizes written and clear provisions in the law. Article 188 is also incompatible with the lex stricta principle because it does not explicitly mention what kind of understanding is meant, causing vagueness and potential abuse of critical activists. Furthermore, other interpretations within Article 188 could also potentially create a repressive regime due to significant restrictions on individual freedoms and rights
