No full textThis article analyzes the ethical and legal challenges of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs), focusing on their impact on personal identity and autonomy. It examines the transformative potential of neurotechnology, especially write-in BCIs that intervene directly in brain activity. Drawing from Ortega y Gasset’s zoon technikon and Parfit’s theory of personal identity, it reflects on how these systems may blur agency and self-continuity. The text also addresses the EU regulatory framework and the theory of neurorights. Using Ulysses on the Ship of Theseus as metaphor, it advocates preventive governance based on ethics, human rights, and informed, autonomous consent
Indigenous Peoples and Climate Justice: Advisory Opinion 32/25 of the INTER-American Court of Human Rights and the Opinion of the International Court of Justice on the Obligations of States in relation to Climate Change
No full textThis paper explores how two 2025 Advisory Opinions, the Inter-American Court of Human Rights’ OC-32/25 and the International Court of Justice’s opinion on climate change, address indigenous peoples’ rights. Both recognise climate change as an existential threat but adopt contrasting approaches. The ICJ portrays indigenous peoples as vulnerable communities, without differentiated standards. Conversely, the IACtHR promotes a pro persona perspective, incorporating environmental democracy into its climate reasoning, recognising eco-anxiety, and equating indigenous knowledge with scientific evidence. Through comparative and critical analysis, this paper argues that while the ICJ reinforces universal obligations, the Inter-American Opinion operationalises them, providing stronger protection for indigenous identity and territorial rights
Teacher Training as an Obligation to Prevent Sexual Violence against Children: Meeting International Standards
No full textThis paper holds that teacher training constitutes a binding preventive obligation arising from Articles 19 and 34 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 5 of the Lanzarote Convention, and Article 23(3) of Directive 2011/92/EU. Subsequently, the main international standards behind of it are identified, encompassing requirements for initial and continuous certification, detection and reporting capacities, and regular evaluation. Analysis of the level of compliance with this obligation reveals a context of shortcomings that has led to the implementation of civil society initiatives aimed at reducing the gap. In this context, the article briefly presents a local teacher training project on the prevention of sexual violence as a good practice that can be replicated
Reinterpretando “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”: La hija ‘Educada’ y la Reparación Intergeneracional en Escape y The Island of Lost Girls de Manjula Padmanabhan
No full textThis article analyses Manjula Padmanabhan’s Escape and The Island of Lost Girls to explore the equation between daughterhood and education, with a special focus on the entanglement of the parental figures in such an equation. In the two novels, the trajectories of Meiji and her uncle(s), especially Youngest, later revealed to be her biological father, offer the scope of such an inquiry. The article reflects on the question of formal education that shapes Meiji’s daughterhood in relation to the parental figures in the novels. Moreover, the study deciphers the significant reverberations of corporeal knowledge in Padmanabhan’s writings, a subversive narrative trope that is normatively eliminated in the shaping of daughter-father relationships, especially in the Indian context. It also traces the trajectory of the educated daughter towards intergenerational reparation, a trajectory that is congruent with the question of hope as a form of resolution in a critical dystopia. Such discussions about the educated daughter also relate to the novel of education or Bildungsroman as a genre, reconfigured through genre-blurring as a measure for writings of critical dystopia. In doing so, the article juxtaposes Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP), or Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter, initiative within the Indian socio-political context with the content of the novels where the interfaced education of the beti (daughter) and the beti’s father becomes significant. Apart from the concepts of critical dystopia and Bildungsroman, the study finds resolutions in theories of sensuous knowledge and intergenerational reparation.
Este artículo analiza Escape y The Island of Lost Girls, de Manjula Padmanabhan, para explorar la ecuación entre la condición de hija y la educación, con especial atención al entrelazamiento de las figuras parentales en dicha ecuación. En ambas novelas, las trayectorias de Meiji y de su(s) tío(s), en especial Youngest, posteriormente revelado como su padre biológico, abren el campo para tal indagación. El artículo reflexiona sobre la cuestión de la educación formal que configura la condición de hija de Meiji en relación con las figuras paternas/parentales en las novelas. Además, el estudio descifra las importantes resonancias del conocimiento corporal en la escritura de Padmanabhan, un tropo narrativo subversivo que suele eliminarse normativamente en la configuración de las relaciones hija-padre, especialmente en el contexto indio. Asimismo, traza la trayectoria de la hija educada hacia la reparación intergeneracional, trayectoria congruente con la cuestión de la esperanza como forma de resolución en una distopía crítica. Estas discusiones sobre la hija educada se vinculan también con la novela de formación o Bildungsroman como género, reconfigurado mediante la difuminación de géneros como recurso en las escrituras de la distopía crítica. En este sentido, el artículo yuxtapone la iniciativa Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP), Save the Daughter, Educate the Daughter [“Salva a la hija, educa a la hija”], en el contexto sociopolítico indio, con el contenido de las novelas, donde adquiere relevancia la educación interrelacionada de la beti y del padre de la beti. No full textIn today\u27s classrooms, concepts are promoted to improve coexistence and quality of life through environmental preservation and coexistence with other living beings. This facilitates the development of values and fosters awareness in children, establishing rules that are beneficial for both humanity and biodiversity. Early childhood and primary education teachers must address this issue, as harmonious coexistence provides children with a safe environment for their healthy development. Interaction with animals in the educational context has also been shown to generate a positive classroom climate, improving interpersonal relationships and academic performance. Furthermore, global concern about recycling and waste management, especially plastics, is highlighted, given their durability and increasing production. The importance of fostering empathy toward animals is emphasized, as this interaction not only benefits children\u27s emotional development but also develops empathy for their peers.En las aulas actuales, se promueven conceptos para mejorar la convivencia y la calidad de vida mediante la preservación del medio ambiente y la coexistencia con otros seres vivos. Esto facilita la construcción de valores y el fomento de la conciencia en los niños, estableciendo reglas beneficiosas tanto para la humanidad como para la biodiversidad. Es necesario que los docentes de educación infantil y primaria aborden este tema, ya que la coexistencia armónica brinda a los niños un entorno seguro para su desarrollo saludable. La interacción con animales en el contexto educativo también se ha evidenciado como generadora de un clima positivo en el aula, mejorando las relaciones interpersonales y los rendimientos académicos. Además, se destaca la preocupación global sobre el reciclaje y la gestión de desechos, especialmente plásticos, dada su durabilidad y la creciente producción. No full textThis article documents and analyzes the deployment of the "Manual of Daily Actions to Survive in This Crazy World," an artistic tool designed to address discomforts of daily life through the practice of action art. Originally created by the Batas Nómadas collective for Madrid Salud\u27s mental health awareness campaign, this tool has proven its versatility by being adapted to multiple environments.
Three of its main applications are detailed: its use as an educational program in high schools in collaboration with the Fundación Manantial; its transformation into an online learning resource for the Master\u27s in Teacher Training at UNIR; and its activation as a research-creation tool within the framework of this conference. The text explores how this manual facilitates a participatory approach to health, using art as a driver for promoting well-being and resilience in various social and educational contexts.Este artículo documenta y analiza el despliegue del "Manual de acciones cotidianas para sobrevivir en este mundo loco", una herramienta artística concebida para abordar los malestares de la vida cotidiana a través de la práctica del arte de acción. Originalmente creado por el colectivo Batas Nómadas para la campaña de sensibilización sobre salud mental de Madrid Salud, este dispositivo ha demostrado su versatilidad al ser adaptado a múltiples entornos.
Se detallan tres de sus aplicaciones principales: su uso como programa educativo en centros de secundaria en colaboración con la Fundación Manantial; su transformación en un recurso de aprendizaje en línea para el Máster de Formación del Profesorado de la UNIR; y su activación como herramienta de investigación-creación en el marco de este congreso. El texto explora cómo este manual facilita una aproximación participativa a la salud, utilizando el arte como motor para la promoción del bienestar y la resiliencia en diversos contextos sociales y educativos

No full textThis article explores the potential of museum audio description as a teaching resource in higher education programmes in Translation and Interpreting, with a particular focus on the Iberian archaeological heritage of Jaén (Spain). Based on the simulation of an audio description assignment of the Double-Armoured Warrior (Guerrero de la doble armadura) from Cerrillo Blanco, it reflects on the artistic competences that students can develop in the classroom, such as visual literacy, creativity, multimodality and synaesthesia, as well as the critical understanding of art and its social dimension. The study proposes a theoretical framework grounded in the comparison of competences from Fine Arts degrees and their applicability to the field of Accessible Translation. The analysis integrates key stages of the audio description process, including information analysis, text production, multisensory enrichment and revision. The findings underline the relevance of incorporating art and accessibility into translation pedagogy, in order to foster both students’ holistic education and the democratisation of access to cultural heritage. Furthermore, future lines of research are identified, based on empirical studies aimed at assessing the acquisition of these competences.Este artículo analiza el potencial de la audiodescripción museística como recurso didáctico en la formación universitaria en Traducción e Interpretación, con especial atención al patrimonio arqueológico íbero de Jaén. A partir de la simulación de un encargo de audiodescripción del Guerrero de la doble armadura de Cerrillo Blanco, se reflexiona sobre las competencias artísticas que el alumnado puede desarrollar en el aula, tales como la alfabetización visual, la creatividad, la multimodalidad y sinestesia, y la comprensión crítica del arte y su dimensión social. El estudio propone un enfoque teórico sustentado en la comparación de competencias de los grados en Bellas Artes y su aplicabilidad al ámbito de la Traducción Accesible. Se integran fases propias del proceso de audiodescripción, como el análisis de la información, la producción del texto, el enriquecimiento multisensorial y la revisión. Las conclusiones destacan la relevancia de incorporar el arte y la accesibilidad en la didáctica de la traducción, para favorecer tanto la formación integral del alumnado como la democratización del acceso al patrimonio cultural. Asimismo, se señalan futuras líneas de investigación basadas en estudios empíricos que evalúen la adquisición de estas competencias.Cet article analyse le potentiel de l’audiodescription muséale comme ressource pédagogique dans la formation universitaire en traduction et interprétation, en portant une attention particulière au patrimoine archéologique ibérique de Jaén (Espagne). À partir de la simulation d’une tâche d’audiodescription du Guerrier à la double armure (Guerrero de la doble armadura) de Cerrillo Blanco, l’étude réfléchit aux compétences artistiques que les étudiants peuvent développer en classe, telles que la littératie visuelle, la créativité, la multimodalité et la synesthésie, ainsi que la compréhension critique de l’art et de sa dimension sociale. L’étude propose une approche théorique fondée sur la comparaison des compétences acquises dans les cursus de Beaux-Arts et leur applicabilité au domaine de la traduction accessible. Le processus d’audiodescription y est intégré dans ses différentes étapes : analyse de l’information, production du texte, enrichissement multisensoriel et révision. Les conclusions soulignent l’importance d’intégrer l’art et l’accessibilité dans la pédagogie de la traduction, afin de favoriser à la fois la formation intégrale des étudiants et la démocratisation de l’accès au patrimoine culturel. Enfin, de futures pistes de recherche sont identifiées, reposant sur des études empiriques visant à évaluer l’acquisition de ces compétences.Questo articolo analizza il potenziale dell’audiodescrizione museale come risorsa didattica nella formazione universitaria in Traduzione e Interpretariato, con particolare attenzione al patrimonio archeologico iberico di Jaén (Spagna). A partire dalla simulazione di un incarico di audiodescrizione del Guerriero con la doppia armatura di Cerrillo Blanco, si riflette sulle competenze artistiche che gli studenti possono sviluppare in aula, come l’alfabetizzazione visiva, la creatività, la multimodalità e la sinestesia, nonché la comprensione critica dell’arte e della sua dimensione sociale. Lo studio propone un approccio teorico basato sul confronto delle competenze dei corsi di laurea in Belle Arti e sulla loro applicabilità all’ambito della Traduzione Accessibile. Vengono integrate fasi proprie del processo di audiodescrizione, come l’analisi delle informazioni, la produzione del testo, l’arricchimento multisensoriale e la revisione. Le conclusioni sottolineano la rilevanza di integrare l’arte e l’accessibilità nella didattica della traduzione, al fine di promuovere sia la formazione integrale degli studenti sia la democratizzazione dell’accesso al patrimonio culturale. No full textThis study examines the lexicon used in Cádiz notarial documentation from the late 18th century, specifically in the inventory of movable property. We are interested in investigating the most noticeable mechanisms employed in the process of naming these animals, with a clear conceptual and semantic motivation. Specifically, we want to highlight certain regional or scarcely documented words and meanings that form the basis of these proper names or nicknames. The study shows how these naming mechanisms reflect dialectal linguistic trends and a connection with the physical and social environment of the area under study.Este trabajo estudia el léxico utilizado en documentación notarial gaditana de finales del siglo XVIII en el inventario de los bienes semovientes. Nos interesa indagar en los mecanismos más notorios empleados en el proceso de nominación de estos animales, con una clara motivación conceptual y semántica y, en concreto, queremos destacar algunas voces y acepciones regionales o escasamente documentadas que sirven de base a estos nombres propios o apodos. El estudio muestra el reflejo en estos mecanismos de nominación de tendencias lingüísticas dialectales y una conexión con el medio físico y social del área estudiada
Lawfare en el Perú: la persecución judicial
No full textThe "lawfare" is the strategic and abusive use of the legal system for political purposes to delegitimize and eliminate adversaries, replacing physical violence with lengthy judicial proceedings, unfounded complaints and preventive imprisonment. In Peru, the judicialization of politics has turned judges, prosecutors and the media into protagonists of a legal "hybrid war". Cases such as the vacancy and imprisonment of Pedro Castillo or the accusations against Dina Boluarte for the death of demonstrators illustrate how the law is used as a political weapon, eroding confidence in institutions and challenging the balance between state powers. Strengthening the independence, impartiality and efficiency of justice is essential to guarantee the constitutional rule of law.El “lawfare” es el uso estratégico y abusivo del sistema jurídico con fines políticos para deslegitimar y eliminar adversarios, sustituyendo la violencia física por procesos judiciales prolongados, denuncias infundadas y prisiones preventivas. En el Perú, la judicialización de la política ha convertido a jueces, fiscales y medios de comunicación en protagonistas de una “guerra híbrida” legal. Casos como la vacancia y encarcelamiento de Pedro Castillo o las acusaciones contra Dina Boluarte por la muerte de manifestantes ilustran cómo el derecho se emplea como arma política, erosionando la confianza en las instituciones y desafiando el equilibrio entre los poderes del Estado.
