This research aims to examine humor as a pragmatic-social phenomenon applied to the use of two Greco-Latin formants with comic intention. This objective seeks to demonstrate the use of two elements with Greco-Latin roots in the formation of a humorous pattern that manifests itself in the virtual environment. To achieve this, both suffixes have been applied to lexical bases that are in principle unrelated to these elements. This research will provide a brief explanation of the suffixes -ina and -oide, commonly used in the scientific-technical field, but in this case they are adopted by speakers as a strategy to generate comedy in the virtual environment of the social network Twitter. Finally, the General Theory of Verbal Humor will be applied to the 756 tweets that make up the compiled corpus. A pragmatic analysis of the most representative texts in which both suffixes published on said platform are used will be presented and will serve as an example of such uses.
The objective of this work is to "braid" the relationship of Ecuadorians with their hair, taking into account intersectionality, that is, triple discrimination by gender, "race" and class. A conception in which the cultural industries play a decisive role, which reproduce the hegemonic discourse, the one promoted by power, in this case at the aesthetic level. We have used ethnography, specifically life history as a research technique. Starting from anthropology, we will analyze the conception of hair that is held from the margins, both on the coast and in the highlands of Ecuador, so interculturality has been key in this research. Hence, through braiding we have connected Esmeraldas, a coastal city, with Cuenca, in the case of the Sierra. The first is because there is a majority black population whose aesthetics in general, and hair in particular, do not correspond to the established canon of beauty, with braiding having great prominence. The same thing happens in Cuenca, where part of the population is of Cañari origin, and men belonging to this ethnic group wear their hair long, tied back in a braid, which does not conform to the conventional aesthetics of the male gender existing in the heteropatriarchal system. Through this study we will establish an intercultural dialogue between both groups, which have historically been discriminated against, so we will also address the role that State policies have played in this regard.
Redefining Protection: Challenges and Solutions in Safeguarding Religious Minorities within International and Regional Legal Frameworks
This paper examines the challenges in defining and safeguarding religious minorities within international and regional legal frameworks. It explores the main research question of how existing legal instruments and definitions impact the protection of religious minorities and aims to propose recommendations for improving these protections. Through a literature review and critical analysis of international and regional legal frameworks, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and various regional instruments, the paper identifies significant gaps and inconsistencies in current protections. Key issues highlighted include the lack of a universally accepted definition of religious minorities, the limitations of international and regional instruments, and the varying interpretations of religious rights by bodies such as the European Court of Human Rights. The paper concludes with recommendations for clearer definitions, more robust legal provisions, and enhanced international and regional cooperation to better safeguard the rights of religious minorities. The findings emphasize the need for more effective approaches to protecting religious diversity and ensuring proper representation
Old Age as a “New Frontier” of (Spatial) Justice
Due to ongoing demographic changes, old age is receiving increasing attention, to the extent that it is considered a “new frontier” of justice, with spatial justice being one of the more recent areas of interest within the legal sphere. The article aims to explore the relationships among the elderly, rights, and space, particularly concerning the urban dimension of the latter. The analysis is preceded by a brief account of the historical significance assumed by old age in philosophy and law, at the intersection of which legal philosophy is situated
Categorizaciones sociales.
Categorizations have been, throughout human history, a means of entering known and recognized places, becoming spaces of belonging and reference with which to construct personal and collective identity and identification. Categorizations function as containers of meaning to generalize and synthesize information about certain collectives or social groups that share similar identity elements. However, when racialized people seek their place of recognition, we often place them in subjective limbo references that form spaces of discrimination and racism. In this essay, the archetypal references of the presence of whiteness as the central axis of categorization from which to place all people are studied, thus generating the invalidation of otherness and blackness. Colonial ethnocentrism establishes whiteness as a referential framework, so that those individuals who cannot be confined within white boundaries are named from absence, from a place of nominal silence that affects and problematizes the categorizations themselves.
The accelerated growth of tourism in recent decades has led to the massification of many destinations, generating a great deal of controversy about this massive form of tourism and its effects on society and/or the environment. In response, new trends are emerging, such as slow tourism, which are more concerned with sustainability, decelerating the speed of travel and connecting with the destination and with yourself. This study examines the extent to which the tourism orientation of a social media post influences consumer behaviour in terms of attitude towards the post and intention to visit. For this purpose, a one-factor experimental design, the tourism orientation of the message (slow versus mass), is carried out. The results show that the message with a slow orientation generates a higher visit intention than the message with a mass orientation. In addition, the attitude towards the post mediates this relationship. This study offers important implications by highlighting how the inclusion of slow features in a tourism message on social media improves the attitude towards the post and contributes to generate a higher visit intention.
This article examines the particular relationships that were established between the researchers of oral literature and their sources throughout the twentieth century in West Africa. The weakening of the orality in this vast territory, fostered by the effects of modernity, required the compilation of the oral discourses, delivered by the bards and other traditionists, as well as the written transcription or recording of the texts, in order to facilitate their preservation. Many of these oral tales ―in the form of epics, myths, legends, genealogies and songs―, transmitted from generation to generation, have been lost; however, others were safeguarded thanks to the work of European and African researchers that followed a set of rules to gain acceptance from the traditionists, sometimes reluctant to reveal secular information. Conclusions aim to state that, despite the fact that African researchers had an easier access to the researched oral texts, they also had to overcome harsh difficulties in order to delve into the West African traditions, often preserved with mistrust and caution.
Based on the question of how much the editorial dimension has been considered in the production and circulation of the revolutionary corrido, in this paper I present the results of the research around the first compilation of this literary subgenre, published in 1931 not by a researcher, but, precisely, by an author, editor and printer of popular literature. I am referring to Eduardo Guerrero and his Corridos históricos de la revolución mexicana desde 1910 hasta 1930. In addition to offering a profile of Guerrero\u27s publishing house, recovering primary and secondary sources, I place the compiled volume in its context, critically assuming its biases and the fact that it is made up of materials that originally circulated as broadsheets, whose dynamics may contradict the commemorative vocation of the compilation. Then, I address the results of the main analysis, which is the editorial dimension of the broadsheets around four aspects (the graphics, the enunciation of the titles, the organization of the texts and the authorship). All these aspects are inseparable from the complete understanding of the history of popular printing in the 20th century and from the evolution of the revolutionary corrido as a literary expression aimed fundamentally to be oralized.
Intersecting Visions of Justice: The Philosophical Tapestry of Human Rights and Human Nature in the Thoughts of Macintyre, Arendt, Nino, and Habermas
This study explores the philosophical foundations of human rights concerning freedom, equality, and solidarity through the lenses of Iusnaturalism, Iuspositivism, and Ethical Constructivism, with a special focus on Alasdair MacIntyre, Hanna Arendt, Carlos Santiago Nino, and Jürgen Habermas. It examines MacIntyre’s revision of Iusnaturalism with an Aristotelian approach, Arendt’s methodological Iuspositivism highlighting legal frameworks, Nino’s rationality-based human rights theory, and Habermas’ emphasis on communicative action and social constructs. This research navigates the dynamic interplay of these theories, offering a multi-dimensional perspective on the evolution, validation, and application of human rights in contemporary society. Significantly, it introduces a dialectical perspective on rationality as a dynamic and evolving human attribute, addressing the constructivist necessities in defining human nature amidst prevailing uncertainties
