    For academics and researchers, the choice of the right journal to disseminate their research findings to as wide an audience and expert as possible is vital to their success. This is especially important when new discoveries, information and addition to knowledge need to be disseminated as fast as possible. Authors typically look for journals that have: a). Competent, diverse and internationally spread editorial board; a journal run by two or three persons would not provide the needed diverse expertise especially where manuscripts are received from such diverse specialties in  a particular field. b). Author friendly and supportive editorial office without compromising quality; with clear guidelines or instructions for authors. c). A well-designed cover with good and consistent formatting and informative masthead; easy to navigate and identify its essential contents, easy to cite and share content accurately such that it is easier for librarians and educators to access. d). Frequent output and accessible, qualitative, sustainable e). High visibility and citation The incentives for choosing a journal are: Turn-around times - how long does it take from submission to review decision to reach author(s)? The faster the better How clear are information relating to submission? Does journal have room for variety of reports? (such as research, short communication, review, commissioned and opinion) How transparent is the review process (assessed by journal transparency in publishing number of received articles, rejections, revisions and acceptance.     THE ROLE OF ANTICOAGULANTS AND ANTIPLATELETS IN PROPHYLAXIS AND/OR TREATMENT OF SEVERE SARS-COV-2 INFECTION

    Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2(SARAS-COV-2) was reported firstly in China by the end of  2019 then disseminated vigorously worldwide  and in 2020 reported by WHO as pandemic disease. It is associated by many symptoms, however; high incidence of thrombotic events was strongly correlated with SARAS-COV-2. Exploring anticoagulants to be added as thromboprophylaxis for Covid 19 patients become a must.     POTENTIAL ANIMAL POISONS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF ANTIVIRAL THERAPEUTICS

    Recent serious effects of viral infections on humans, anti-viral compound research has gained momentum and has become very important. In particular, viruses such as Cytomegalovirus/CMV, Epstein Barr virus/EBV, Hepatitis B/HBV, Hepatitis C/HCV, Herpes Simplex Virus/HSV, Human Immunodeficiency Virus/HIV, rabies virus, corona virus and Ebola virus are of high importance. Very limited antiviral medicines commercially available and can cause serious-significant side effects for patients receiving treatment. Also, viruses have the mutational capability to infect host cells. For this reason, in recent years, the possibility of producing new antiviral medicines, especially from natural sources, has increased considerably, and animal-based products are now also promising among natural products. Viral-borne infections have been known long ago. However, it was just possible to isolate these viruses that cause infection in the nineteenth century. The management of viral infection, the isolation of the virus, and the control of viral reproduction has played a role in the development of many drugs and vaccines in the studies carried out since that period. In addition to these studies, viruses continue to be one of the primary causes of human and animal diseases today. It has been stated that Antiviral Peptides/AVPs can be used as a defense barrier with previous studies. Some AVPs are known to show a broad spectrum against viruses. In this direction, many studies have been conducted on AVPs and it has been observed that these peptides inhibit the viral particle by the above-mentioned mechanisms.     TOXOPLASMOSIS IN PREGNANT WOMEN IN YEMEN: THE IMMUNE STATUS AND POTENTIAL RISK FACTORS

    Background and aims: Toxoplasmosis is caused as a result of intracellular protozoan organism, Toxoplasma gondii, and is a widespread disease. Toxoplasmosis can progress to a serious systemic disease (congenital form); once a mother becomes infected for the first time for the period of pregnancy, a transient haematopoietic parasite can appear with focal lesions produced within the placenta, thus infecting the fetus. Therefore, this cross-sectional study aimed at assessing the immune status of the pregnant woman towards toxoplasmosis, determining the prevalence of T. gondii in Amran city -Yemen, and identifying the potential risk factors that affect the pregnant woman towards toxoplasmosis. Material and methods: This study included 280 pregnant women who were admitted to maternity clinics at Amran General Hospital and Family Health Center in Amran City -Yemen during the period from December 2016 to June 2017. The questionnaire was used to obtain relevant demographic data and potential risk factors. Then, blood samples were collected from pregnant women and tested for identification of IgM and IgG antibodies against T. gondii using the ELISA technique. Results: The total positive rate for IgM antibodies was 3.6%, while for IgG was 27.9%. A high IgM rate equal to 5.3% was observed in the 31-35 age group, and a higher IgG rate (36.8%) was observed in the same age group. There were 69.3% of pregnant women susceptible to infection with toxoplasmosis, 2.9% recently infected, 27.1% protected, and 0.7% had secondary infection.  The high rate of IgM positivity was observed in the second trimester of pregnancy (4.7%), while the lowest rate was in the third trimester of pregnancy (2%). A slight increase in the rate of IgG positivity was observed in the third trimester of pregnancy (32%). There was a significant association between contact with animals such as cats and infection with toxoplasmosis, where OR =5.4, CI =1.01-30.13, χ2 =4.59, p =0.04. While there was no significant association with the other studied factors. Conclusion:   Yemen has less seropositivity than other Arab and African countries as a result of variation in risk factors. Data on T. gondii infection during pregnancy is scarce in numerous countries, in particular where there is a lack of political constancy such as Yemen. The risk factors identified included proximity to the cats and domistic animals, and increased maternal age. Toxoplasmosis in pregnancy in Yemen may be a really underestimated health problem.     REPRODUCTIVE HORMONE LEVELS AND METABOLIC SYNDROME IN WOMEN WITH POLYCYSTIC OVARY SYNDROME IN SANA'A, YEMEN

    Background and Objectives: Polycystic ovary syndromes (PCOs) are the most complex endocrine disorders of the female reproductive system with metabolic and psychiatric manifestations. It affects 5%-10% of women of childbearing age. There are paucity of information on PCOs. Therefore the present study aimed at the effect of reproductive hormones, metabolic syndromes, smoking and khat chewing on the PCOs among women in Sana'a Subjects and Methods: The study included 45 Yemeni women of the age group 18-45 years with PCOS classified into two groups regarding age: Group I 18-29 years old, Group II 30-45 years old and underwent clinical assessment (waist, BMI and sex hormones, blood pressure, glucose, lipids, and insulin), and transvaginal ultrasound. Clinical data, history of other diseases and data of chewing and smoking also collected.” Also the study included 45 healthy control women matched in age with the cases. Results: The prevalence of MS among PCOs patients was 35% and the most prevalent MS risk factors among PCOs patients were waist circumference (WC) 64.4%, and HDL-C 64.4% respectively, while prevalence of triglycerides (TG), hypertension and fasting blood sugar (FBS) were 28.9%, 20% and 13.3%, respectively. PCOs patients had significant increase in serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) (p<0.001), Insulin (p<0.001), HOMA-IR (p<0.001), T testosterone (TT) (p<0.001), DHEA-S (p<0.001) and FBS (p<0.016). Lean PCOs patients had a significant increase in TT than overweight/obese PCOs (p < 0.045) and dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S) was found to be significantly higher in PCOs women with MS (p<0.011). Insulin resistance was significantly higher in PCOs women with hypertension as compared to PCOs women without hypertension (p<0.023). Conclusion: There is a relationship between PCOS and reproductive hormone disorder. Patients had significant increases in serum levels of LH, LH/Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Insulin, TT, and DHEA-S.     CHOLESTEROL AND ITS IMPLICATIONS- A REVIEW

    Ambiguity associated with cholesterol portrays its significance and concern. Cholesterol is a steroid biomolecule of animal cells with several important functions in living system, such as steroid hormone production, structural architecture of cell membranes, production of vitamin D, sources of bile salts and bile acids. Its sources include endogenous (de novo production by body’s tissues) and exogenous (dietary), contributing to cholesterol pool in the body. Cholesterol homeostasis is essentially regulated by the body. This review focuses on the following; basis of cholesterol, biological functions of cholesterol, structural description of cholesterol, Biosynthesis of cholesterol, cholesterol and its derivatives e.g bile acids, bile salts, steroid hormone, absorption and utilization of dietary cholesterol and current advancement in cholesterol management against risk factors. Hypercholesterolaemia is known to be an important precondition to the etiology of cardiovascular disorders which include atherosclerosis, stroke and coronary heart diseases. Interventions for the management and prevention of hypercholesterolaemia currently advocated include pharmaceuticals (drugs) and non pharmaceuticals, but more concern on non pharmacological therapeutic interventions such as the use of Medicinal Plants and herbs, Nutraceuticals, Diet and Exercises (lifestyle) and Functional and Mediterranean Foods.     COVID-19: PHARMACOLOGICAL AND THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES

    In the end of 2019, SARS-CoV-2, a new virus from Corona viruses family, has been detected in China and was responsible for COVID-19 disease.  This disease has been suddenly and vigorously disseminated among individuals all over the world. Based on genetic vicinity, this novel virus is similar to SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV and it can spread from an unknown animal host to individuals. Many published clinical data and in vitro studies may offer treatment strategies of some effective antiviral and repurposed drugs, including remdesivir, favipiravir, lopinavir/ritonavir, corticosteroids, etc. This narrative review describes current pharmacological proposed treatments for COVID-19 patients and available experimental and clinical studies for these drugs.     ASSESSMENT OF SOME CLINICAL AND LABORATORY PROFILES AMONG DENGUE FEVER PATIENTS AT HAJJAH GOVERNMENT, YEMEN

    Background and objective: Classical dengue (DF) is a viral disease transmitted by the bite of an infected mosquito, usually Aedes aegypti or Aedes albopictus. Residents without access to sophisticated laboratory tools need simple clinical and/or laboratory indicators that can provide a reliable diagnosis of dengue fever before admission to the hospital. Therefore, this study was designed to evaluate some clinical and laboratory features among confirmed cases with dengue fever in the government of Hajjah, Yemen to differentiate between dengue (DF) and other febrile diseases in the dengue affected population. Methods: Clinical data and blood samples were collected from 46 confirmed cases of dengue fever, which were hospitalizedat the Yasser and Thabit Hospital from September to December 2019. The collected samples were examined for some hematological tests, including: hemoglobin (Hb), white blood cells counts (WBCs), and hematocrit (HCT), and a platelet count (PLT). Confirmation of dengue was performed with a non-structural protein tape (NS1). Results: The results obtained showed that males have a higher infection rate (73.91%) of DF compared to females (26.09%). The recurrence rate was also highest (69.56%) among the 16-30 year-olds. Regarding clinical symptoms, fever and headache occurred in 100%, nausea in 95.65%, and vomiting in 78.26% of the patients, while rashes were less frequent (19.56%). Hematological abnormalities frequently occurred with WBC (89.1%), PLT (84.78%), and Hb (63.04%), while HCT was only abnormal in 23.91% of cases. Conclusion: A high frequency of clinical and laboratory variants can distinguish dengue fever from other causes of infection; Dengue fever is most common in males between the ages of 16 and 30. This is the first report documenting the occurrence of dengue fever in Hajjah governorate, which requires more attention to prevent and control it.     MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE AMONG YEMENI WOMEN IN SANA’A CITY

    Background: Menopause is a physiological phenomenon that can strongly affect the quality of life (QOL) of women. Objectives: To analyzes the menopausal associated symptoms among contributors and their effect on quality of life. To also investigate sociodemographic factors affecting QOL. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 188 perimenopause and menopausal Yemeni women selected randomly from outpatient clinics of the main public hospitals in Sana'a, Yemen. Data was acquired using the Menopause-Specific Quality of Life (MENQOL) questionnaire. Results: The mean age at menopause was found to be 47±3.4. The majority of participants were postmenopausal (71.27 %), and (71.80 %) were married. The most prevalent symptoms were aching muscles and joints (55%), dissatisfaction with personal life (37.7%), night sweat (35%) and avoidance of intimacy (30%). The total scores of menopausal quality of life for each MENQOL domain revealed that the maximum mean score was recorded for physical domain (42.81± 17.87), followed by psychosocial (14.11±5.72), then sexual (6.93±2.46), and finally vasomotor domain (4.78±3.10). Conclusion: The physical and psychosocial domains had upper mean MENQOL scores than vasomotor and sexual domains.     EVALUATION OF MULTIFUNCTIONALITY IN COSMETICS

    In recent years, developments in the field of cosmetic ingredients especially use of natural sources and carriers systems and the manufacturing methods resulted as an improvement in the effect and stability of cosmetics, and thus the performance and component-based multi-functionalities of cosmetic products. Those have partially contributed to the condition-dependent functionality, developments in the field of marketing, monitoring of expectations and their reflection on marketing and the creation of new ideas in the field of claim-driven multi-functionality. Multi-functionality in cosmetic products can be evaluated in four groups. These are performance-based multi-functionality, component-based multi-functionality, conditional multi-functionality and claim-driven multi-functionality.
