No full textIndonesia has various tribes that spread over a large number of islands, and each has their own custom or tradition which is unique and different from each other. One of the customs or traditions is the funeral ceremony which can be found among Javanese and Balinese people, that is a ceremony held when someone is passed away. Based from the old inscriptions and manuscript funeral ceremony has already rooted in the past. They have their own terminology about the ceremony, although the ceremony itself principally has the same purposes. Compared to similar ceremony still undergoes until the present time, it is assumed that the custom or tradition is inherited for generations

No full textThis paper is compiled based on the results of research on the Song Tritis site in 2002. Research after 2002, the results are relatively the same both in type and quantity. Differences may occur in soil conditions and absolute dating. The number of soil layers will increase if the excavation is carried out deeper and the absolute date will get older, which marks the oldest life activities in the Song Tritis Site, according to the excavation capability. Thus, the oldest dating in this paper cannot represent the oldest life span at the Song Tritis Site because it is suspected that there will be an older date obtained in future studies

No full textSince prehistoric times, human adaptation patterns to their environment have manifested certain patterns that are closely related to human subsistence strategies in adapting to their natural environment. The choice of location for human habitation is strongly influenced by efforts to minimize the use of energy and time in exploiting and distributing sources of subsistence. There is a tolerance between the location of the site and the pattern of human adaptation to its natural environment. Factors related to environmental conditions are very important in choosing a location, in addition to other factors apart from economic and political factors.

When Raden Wijaya had become king he was abandoned by some of his colleagues at the time of facing Jayakatwang and Kubhilai Khan's army. Although they had obtained high positions but some of them were not satisfied with the awards or positions given by the king. Ranggalawe who was not appointed as a patih (duke), was against the king so there was a war called Paranggalawe in 1217 C (1295 AD).
 
PERAN DAN PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT DALAM PELESTARIAN DAN PENGEMBANGAN BUDAYA
No full textThe increasing role and participation of the community needs to be fostered through continuous effort without stopping in the long term. The efforts needed includes several stages, namely (Javanese): tepung (recognizing), dunung (knowing), srawung (understanding). At an early stage, the community needs to recognize (tepung) what is the potential for its natural and cultural resources. The next stage, the community needs to know (dunung) how to develop and utilize its potential. In the end, the community understands (srawung) and appreciates that the potential of natural and cultural resources that can be maintained and developed can provide benefits to their lives, increase material and spiritual well-being.

No full textOur absolute dating for the Kubur Kalang culture is the first date obtained from this cultural group. The results show the numbers 1420 AD to 1620 AD. This means that the Kalang Burials in Bojonegoro is a prehistoric tradition, which is still practiced by a group of people. If this dates are applied in the historical framework in Java, the oldest number (1420 AD) will fall to the reign of Bhre Hyang Purwawicesa as one of the kings in the Girindrawardhana dynasty from the end of the Majapahit kingdom period, while the youngest figure (1620 AD) will refer to the middle of the Sultan Agung's reign from the Islamic Mataram kingdom. The implication is that the supporter of Kubur Kalang culture in Bojonegoro could be the burial of common people when Hindu culture has entered and developed in Indonesia, such as indicated by Stutterheim, or even during the reign of Sultan Agung.
 
TERAKOTA MASA SEJARAH DI INDONESIA: FUNGSI DAN TEKNOLOGINYA
No full textThe period of history in Indonesia, begins with the existence of writings on stone originating from India, with the Pallava letters, starting from the IV-V century AD. In this article, we limited the observation of terracotta in historical times, since the influence of India, especially Hinduism-Buddhism, until the time of the widespread influence of Islam in Indonesia in the XVI century AD. This limitation is deliberately carried out because the material of this writing is derived from the results of terracotta found at several archaeological sites dating from these periods (historic sites). To enrich information about traditional terracotta, the traditions of making terracotta by several ethnic groups in Indonesia are described.
