One of the perceptions of the wider community regarding the meaning of a fossil in everyday life-among other things, is ancient or ancient objects. It is easier for the general public to relate the notion of fossils to something that is antique and in context of the past. Some of these perceptions are true, but in fact a fossil has a broader and more specific meaning. Therefore, the people's perception of fossils above is only an initial understanding - a part of the whole understanding - which is still far from the real understanding of a fossil, so it must be equipped with more perfect definitions. In the above context, this paper will try to provide some understanding of fossils and their details, so that people's perceptions of the inappropriate understanding of fossils can be avoided

The trade relations between Europeans and the Middle East, which have colored the trade map before the Islamic era, show that trade relations between Europe and Asia have been going on since before the times of Jesus Christ. Then after the collapse of the domination of India and China, due to the conquest of northern India which then spread to the South and the invasion of China by Islamic armies in the Middle East, it appeared that a wave of Arabs began to form colonies for traders. The trade and political relations between China and Persia, China with Srivijaya, India with Srivijaya and India with China were relations that had lasted for centuries. This kind of relationship cannot just be erased. Therefore, when the teachings of Muhammad (Islam) became established in the Middle East and came to power in northern India, the flow of international trade was intensified, as did the teachings of Islam itself. &nbsp

Lawa Cave's multi-functional activities include food processing activities as evidenced by the findings of ecofacts (food scraps in the form of bone fragments and mollusc shells), tool-making activities (workshops) with evidence of the findings of artifacts including tools, waste and raw materials, and graves human skeleton findings). Meanwhile, the single activity in the Layah rockshelters was evidenced by findings that were dominated by lithic artifacts, including in the form of debitage, tool products, raw materials and core stones. The Lawa Cave which has a large area and is located near the river is used as a place for multi-functional activities, while the Layah Caves where the surrounding area is a source of raw materials is used as a place for making lithic tools. Based on the differences in activities and the quality of these raw materials in dealing with and adapting to the surrounding natural environment, it shows that there is a distinct character in the settlement patterns that take place in this area. Furthermore, based on technological observations and typology of the Layah rockshelter, it shows that humans at that time were exploiting nature optimally. &nbsp

The fort complex was not very large, so there were only a few simple main buildings. This is related to the function, level of space requirements and the role of the fort. The internal condition of the Netherlands is also experiencing a decline in strength and threats from outside at that time. The artifactual remains also show the role (of the Dutch) in the use of the fort. The construction of the fort considered economic interests by trying to control the kingdom of Bone and the strategic bay of Bone. Fort Balangnipa was once used for Indonesian independence fighters, police dormitories, and currently planned to be use as a regional museum. This fort proved to be of real importance especially for the Sinjai area and for the Dutch when they wanted to control Bone because of their economic interests. The remains of the existing colonial fortress also enriched the historical data of the Indonesian struggle, especially the Bone kingdom. &nbsp
