    FACTORS AFFECTING THE ROLE OF PEER COUNSELORS IN IMPLEMENTING ADOLESCENT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH EDUCATION IN SUMENEP DISTRICT

    Adolescents are considered as priority targets for reproductive health that will determine the quality of reproductive health in the future. The globalization of information has a big impact on adolescents. The great curiosity of adolescents about reproduction encourages adolescents to seek information from various sources, including peers, parents, schools and information media. This requires correct and responsible information so that adolescents can have healthy reproductive behavior. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the behavior of peer counselors in the implementation of adolescent reproductive health counseling in Sumenep Regency. P enelitian uses quantitative methods to design cross-sectional. The population in this study is the total population, namely all peer counselors who have received training on Adolescent Reproductive Health in Sumenep Regency in 2020 as many as 66 people. Data analysis used chi-square statistical test and logistic regression. The results showed that the most dominant factor influencing was knowledge of KRR counseling, motivation towards the implementation of KRR counseling, support of officers for the implementation of KRR counseling, and the supervision of officers on the implementation of KRR counseling. This study recommends the Sumenep Regency BPMP & KB Office to organize and activate adolescent reproductive health counseling training and invite peer counselors who are active in Sumenep district, and facilitate any KRR counseling activities, namely in the form of facilities and infrastructure

    The research purpose is to increase the introduction of balanced nutritions food. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The researcher subjects were 22 children of 3-4-year-old children at PPT Pelangi, Pakal, Surabaya. Data collection techniques included: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This research consisted of pre-cycle, cycle I and cycle II with 2 meetings/ cycle. The research result showed that in the pre-cycle, it obtained 46,6 %, there was An increase in the first cycle of 61,4 %, it showed an increase in the number of children who developed well, although it was not maximally yet, in the second cycle, It increased as 83 % it showed an increase in the percentage of development with very good growth. &nbsp

    A SUPPORT OF THE HUSBAND DURING THE PROCESS OF LABOR AND THE PUERPERIUM IN KUPANG DISTRICT

    Husband\u27s support during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium is needed by both mother and baby. Husband\u27s support makes mothers less stressed, needs are met, mothers feel comfortable emotionally. The purpose study was to determine the husband\u27s support during labor and childbirth. The research method is qualitative exploration with a phenomenological approach. The research was conducted in Oelbiteno Village with the informants were 10 husbands of mothers who gave birth. Data collection by direct interview and via telephone. Data processing and analysis techniques are interpretative phenomenological analysis with content analysis. Results showed husband\u27s support for his wife during childbirth is physical support (massaging the wife\u27s back, feeding and drinking); emotional (feeling what the wife is facing, helping her during childbirth); informational (information about nutritious food); advocacy (planning a safe labor for the wife, preparing clothes for mothers and babies, KTP, KK, JKN). Husband\u27s support during the puerperium period is physical support (caring for the baby, delivering the wife and control baby); emotional (encouraging to provide exclusive breastfeeding); informational (information about wife and child health, nutritious food); advocacy (planning family planning programs)

    EFFECTIVENESS OF DRY EXTRACT MAHONI SEED CONSUMPTION ON BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL IN DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS

    An increase in blood sugar levels caused diabetes mellitus, and various other health complications. One of the herbal therapy approaches can be used by consuming mahogany seeds which are believed to reduce blood glucose levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of consuming mahogany seeds to reduce blood sugar levels. This was a quasi-experiment with non-randomized control group pretest-posttest design conducted on March 24-26 2020. A sample of 22 respondents was divided into 2 groups: treatment group and control group selected by purposive sampling. The data was collected by observation. The data was analysed by Paired t-test. The treatment group before consuming the dry extract of Mahogany seeds (Mean=258.27; SD= 46.98), and after consuming the dry extract of Mahogany seeds (Mean= 185.36; SD= 38.85). In the control group, before consuming the extract of Mahogany seed ekring (Mean= 224.27; SD= 14.73), and after consuming Mahogany seed extract (Mean= 213.27; SD=6.75). It was statistically significant (p= 0.001). Consumption of dry extract of Mahogany seeds effectively reduces blood sugar levels in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. Consumption of mahogany seeds can be used as a complementary therapy in nursing to reduce blood sugar

    SELF CARE ABILITY INFLUENCES THE QUALITY OF LIFE CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE (CHF) PATIENTS

    The prevalence of congestive heart failure sufferers in Indonesia is very high and is expected to continue to increase every year. Heart failure conditions and other manifestations cause a decrease in the quality of life due to the patient\u27s inability to perform self-care properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-care ability and the quality of life of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF) in cardiac outpatient unit Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. This research was conducted on 64 respondents which by purposive sampling technique. Methode of this research was descriptive correlative with cross-sectional disign. The instrument of this research is the Self Care of Heart Failure Index (SCHFI) questionnaire to measure self-care ability and  Minnesota  Living  with  Heart  Failure  Questionnaire (MLHFQ)  questionnaire  to measure quality of life. The results of this study indicate that the respondent\u27s self-care ability is balanced by good and bad as many as 32 respondents (50.0%)   and the quality of life of the majority is bad as many as 39 respondents (60.9%). Based on the chi square test it can be concluded that p value= 0.01 (<0.05) means that there is a significant relationship between self-care ability and the quality of life of people with congestive heart failure (CHF). The recommendation for further research is to study about the factors that influence self-care ability and quality of life in patients with congestive heart failure

    Toddlers are an age group that is vulnerable to nutritional disorders. A balanced nutritional intake will have an impact on children\u27s development and also play an important role in immunity to prevent and fight COVID-19, especially in early childhood. Nutrition education is an effective effort in changing the behavior of mothers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of health education on knowledge and behavior of mothers in the application of toddler’s balanced nutrition  in Sidoarjo region. This study used a pre-experimental design with a one group pre post test approach. The sample of this research is mothers who have children aged 1-5 years in the village of Sukodono Sidoarjo totaling 30 respondents, the sampling technique is purposive sampling. The statistical test used are the Paired T test and Wilcoxon test. The Paired t test results obtained p value 0.011 (α = 0.05), which means that there is an effect of health education on the level of knowledge about balanced nutrition in toddlers, while the Wilcoxon test results on the practice of implementing toddler’s balanced nutrition obtained p value 0.091 which means there is no effect health education on the practice of implementing balanced nutrition in toddlers. Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the level of knowledge of respondents before and after being given health education, while the practice of implementing toddler’s balanced nutrition has no difference before and after being given health educatio

    EXPERIENCE OF PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC DISEASES IN COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE AND INTEGRATIVE HEALTH SEEKING BEHAVIORS

    Background: Chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, COPD, and DM, are the main causes of death worldwide. Nearly half of all global deaths are caused by such diseases. Complementary medicine and integrative health are believed to have great potential in providing benefits to public health. This research aims to determine the experience of patients with chronic diseases in seeking for complementary medicine and integrative health. Method: This research is a qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The data collection method used is the in-depth interview with 8 patients with chronic diseases (heart disease, cancer, COPD, and DM). Result: In this study there were 5 themes found related to the experience of patients with chronic diseases in the behavior of seeking complementary medicine and integrative healthcare which includes economic factors and doubts to the conventional medicine, as well as the values of traditional medicine that were being the reasons in the process of seeking complementary medicine and integrative healthcare. Seeking the Complementary medicine and integrative healthcare is strongly influenced by support of family, community, and social media. That suggest more positive than the negative impacts after undergoing the complementary medicine and integrative healthcare. Participants perception that traditional medicine is better than the conventional one. Closed minded participants to seek to doctors after undergoing the traditional medicine. Conclusion: Besides as a medical treatment, the use of traditional medicine for patients with chronic diseases also manifests the beliefs of patients that need to be facilitated by providing assistance hoping that possible dangerous risks can be avoided

    THE EXCESSIVE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO INSOMNIA AMONG NURSING STUDENTS

    Social media is online media used to interact and exchange information with other people. Excessive use of social media can negatively impact, one of which can make a person\u27s sleep patterns change, causing insomnia. Insomnia is a condition characterized by a disturbance in the amount, quality, or time of an individual\u27s sleep. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the excessive use of social media and insomnia among nursing students. This research method was correlational quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with a sample size of 207 participants. Data analysis used the chi-square test.The results showed 102 participants (49.3%) actively used social media, and 105 participants (50.7%) were not actively using social media, 103 participants (49.8%) experienced insomnia, and 104 participants (50.2%) do not experience insomnia. This study demonstrated a significant relationship between the excessive use of social media and insomnia among nursing students(p-value 0.01).Therefore, this research can provide information to students to optimize the use of social media to support the learning process and improve students’ sleep quality

    THE CORRELATION OF FAMILY KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOR IN CONTROLLING HYPERTENSION IN PATIENTS AT OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT

    There has been a significant and continuous increase in the number of people suffering from hypertension worldwide, particularly in Indonesia. Many families with hypertensive members do not recognize hypertension or control their hypertension. This study aims to determine the correlation of family knowledge and behavior in controlling hypertension in patients at the outpatient department of a private hospital in Jakarta. The method was a quantitative methodology with a cross-sectional design approach. The population was the patients’ families in outpatient department. The sample was 94 respondents who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The instrument was a previous study\u27s questionnaire. The univariate analysis showed that 64.9% of respondents have good knowledge, and 53.3% have good behavior. The bivariate analysis, which used the Pearson Chi-Square test showed a p-value of 0.001 (CI 95%). There was a correlation between family knowledge and behavior in controlling hypertension in patients at the outpatient department. Hospitals and nurses can further optimize family education, socialization, and collaboration in controlling hypertension

    LEMON AROMATHERAPY AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO REDUCE THE INTENSITY OF CHEMOTHERAPY-RELATED NAUSEA AND VOMITING EXPERIENCED BY THE BREAST CANCER PATIENTS

    ABSTRACT Introduction : The mechanism of breast cancer is the cells growing and breeding become appear abnormal tissue of breast. One of the common treatments for it is chemotherapy using cytotoxic drugs. However, chemotherapy may cause nausea and vomiting as its side effects. Lemon aromatherapy is a complementary therapy in patients with breast cancer who experience nausea or vomiting. The study’s purpose was to know the effect of lemon aromatherapy on the intensity of nausea and vomiting experienced by the breast cancer patients as an effect of chemoterapy in the Chemo Center Room of RSAL Dr. Ramelan Surabaya. Material and Methods : The study was the pre-experimental design with pre-post test without control group. There are two variables, lemon aromatherapy is independent, and the intensity of nausea and vomiting is dependent. The sampling technique was nonprobability purposive sampling, with 34 breast cancer patients taken as the sample. A questionnaire was the instrument for collecting the data. The Data collected were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Test (α = 0,05). Results : The study’s result indicated that the lemon aromatherapy was effectively to decrease of the intensity of nausea and vomiting exeperienced by the respondents, with the value of Wilcoxon test p < 0.001. Conclusion : Lemon aromatherapy stimulates the raphe nucleus to produce serotonin. Which function to generate a sense of comfort and calm. For that reason, it can be used as an alternative for taking care of nausea and vomiting experienced by patients with breast cancer as the side effect of chemotherapy.
