Inequality of Arabic Subjects in the General Education Curriculum in Indonesia

    No full text
The objectives of this study are 1) to describe the fact of inequality of Arabic subjects in the curriculum as a compulsory subject at the upper secondary education level, 2) to determine the inequality factors of Arabic subjects in the general education curriculum, and 3) to determine the implications of inequality in Arabic as the main subject. Graduates of general education who proceed to Islamic religious universities often encounter challenges in mastering Arabic. This may occur due to the absence of Arabic language subjects during their high school years, compounded by Arabic not being a mandatory component of the general education curriculum. This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research method. Data collection techniques include literature studies, and data analysis used are content analysis. The findings indicate that Arabic is not designated as a core subject in the national education curriculum for secondary education, highlighting the unequal treatment of Arabic within the Indonesian education system. This disparity's repercussion is evident in the challenges encountered by high school graduates when pursuing Arabic studies at Islamic Religious Colleges, stemming from struggles in grasping the fundamentals of the Arabic language. Arabic language learning in general education is only an elective subject in private schools affiliated with religious organizations. This results in students facing challenges in acquiring knowledge in Arabic and grappling with the complexities of learning Islam, particularly for Muslim students

Psycholinguistic Approaches to Enhancing Arabic Speaking Proficiency through Comic Strips

    No full text
This study explores the effectiveness of using comic strips as a psycholinguistic approach to enhance Arabic speaking proficiency (maharat al-kalam) among students. Traditional methods of teaching Arabic often emphasize grammar memorization, which can disengage students and hinder their ability to apply the language in spoken contexts. In contrast, comic strips provide a visual and narrative framework that makes learning more engaging, promoting better vocabulary retention and comprehension of sentence structures. Quantitative data was gathered through pre-tests, post-tests, and speaking tasks, while qualitative data was obtained from questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The results showed significant improvement in the experimental group in terms of vocabulary retention, sentence structure comprehension, and speaking confidence. The visual and contextual elements of comic strips helped students internalize the language more effectively. Additionally.  However, some challenges were noted in understanding cultural contexts within the comic strips. Notably, while comics are typically used to motivate and enhance maharat al-qiro'ah (reading skills), this study found that they can also be effectively applied to improve maharat al-kalam (speaking skills) through the incorporation of Arabic vocabulary and a psycholinguistic approach.  This study concludes that comic strips offer a valuable and innovative tool for enhancing Arabic speaking proficiency, providing both cognitive and motivational benefits

Problem-solving ability is a student's ability to involve the process of a task whose solution method is not yet known in advance. To complete the solution, students need to map their knowledge. Building a flat-sided space is one of the materials whose solving method requires strategy and creative thinking and contains mathematical ideas or mathematical concepts. This study aims to examine the effect of the realistic mathematics education approach on students' problem-solving abilities in three-dimensional shapes at SMP Negeri 10 Kota Bengkulu. This type of research was a quasi-experimental design using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study was all grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 10 Kota Bengkulu for the 2022–2023 academic year. The sample for this study was class VIII E, which was selected using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 30 students. Data collection in this study was carried out using a problem-solving ability description test. The data was analyzed using a paired t-test and an N-Gain score. The results of hypothesis testing obtained a value of , and the N-Gain calculation result was . Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there was an influence of the realistic mathematics education approach on students' problem-solving abilities in three-dimensional shapes at SMP Negeri 10 Kota Bengkulu

    Get PDF
Understanding the thinking process of students has great significance, how students face and solve transformation geometry problems not only reflects the understanding of concepts, but also the ability to think systematically, creatively, and logically. The purpose of this study is to find out how the thinking process used by prospective mathematics teachers helps them solve transformation geometry problems. In-depth research on the thinking process of mathematics students in the context of solving transformation geometry problems by utilising John Dewey's theory is expected to provide valuable insights in the development of mathematics education. Descriptive qualitative research method was used in this study. The research subjects were 3 mathematics education students at one of the universities in Kudus Regency. The instruments of this research are mathematical problem solving ability test and interview guidelines. Data analysis method which includes collection, presentation, reduction, and conclusion. The results of the data analysis process based on John Dewey's theory are that the subject is able to understand the problem, define the problem, able to develop a solution if the first solution is not proven, able to test several solutions if there is inaccuracy in the first solution and the subject is able to take the best hypothesis

Procedure for Land Dispute Resolution Through Mediation at the Land Office: A Critical Analysis of Procedural Justice

    Get PDF
This research discusses legal certainty related to the period of out-ofcourt dispute resolution through mediation at the land office and its impact on the protracted mediation process. Legal certainty is a crucial element in dispute resolution to ensure justice and certainty for the disputing parties. Through a normative juridical approach, this research analyzes the laws and regulations governing mediation and its practical implementation at the land office. The findings show that the lack of clarity and certainty in the regulation of the mediation period at the land office leads to an ineffective and time-consuming dispute resolution process. Without a clear time limit, the parties and the mediator cannot resolve cases promptly. This study uses a systematic normative juridical research method to analyze these issues. The conclusion is that existing regulations vary in defining and implementing mediation, highlighting the need for technical guidelines for mediation procedures and rules regarding the implementation period at the National Land Agency to ensure optimal and efficient mediation

State Responsibility in Addressing Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Based on the International Legal Framework

    Get PDF
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are individuals forced to flee their homes due to armed conflicts, natural disasters, or environmental changes while remaining within their country’s borders. Unlike refugees, IDPs lack specific international legal protections under a binding framework, making them more vulnerable to inadequate state responses. This study explores the legal framework governing IDP protection, focusing on the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement (GPID) and state responsibilities under international law. Using a normative legal research approach, this study examines primary legal sources such as the GPID, the Kampala Convention, and Indonesia’s national policies on internal displacement. Findings indicate that while the GPID provides a comprehensive yet non-binding framework, the Kampala Convention represents a regional effort to establish legally binding obligations for IDP protection. However, significant gaps persist at both international and national levels, particularly in enforcement mechanisms and state accountability. In Indonesia, IDP protection is primarily addressed through disaster management laws, social conflict resolution policies, and human rights regulations. The study highlights the need for stronger legal commitments, enhanced international cooperation, and more effective national implementation strategies to ensure the rights and dignity of IDPs are upheld
