This study aims to analyze the relationship between the value of responsibility in Islamic educational communication and the level of learning independence among first-semester mahasantri at Ma’had Al-Jami’ah UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. This research employed a quantitative method with data collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 50 mahasantri. Descriptive analysis showed that the average score of responsibility was 62.56 and learning independence was 57.44, with standard deviations of 4.65 and 5.19, respectively. The Shapiro–Wilk normality test indicated that both variables were normally distributed (Sig. > 0.05), while the linearity test confirmed a significant linear relationship between the variables (Sig. = 0.000). Hypothesis testing using the Product Moment correlation revealed an rxy value of 0.537, exceeding the critical value (rtabel = 0.279) at a 5% significance level. This indicates a positive, significant, and moderate relationship between responsibility in Islamic educational communication and learning independence. The coefficient of determination (r² = 0.2884) shows that responsibility contributes 28.84% to learning independence. The t-test further supports these findings, with thitung = 4.41 surpassing ttabel = 2.01, leading to the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ). In conclusion, this study demonstrates that the value of responsibility in Islamic educational communication plays a crucial role in shaping the learning independence of mahasantri. These findings reinforce the Self-Regulated Learning theory, which asserts that responsibility is a fundamental foundation in the development of individual learning autonomy. Get PDF
This study examines the revitalization of Islamic education through the concept of the Tawhid paradigm proposed by Ismail Raji al-Faruqi. Using a library research method, the study explores five principles of unity: God, creation, truth and knowledge, life, and humanity, as an integrative framework between revelation and reason. The findings indicate that the Tawhid paradigm serves as both an epistemological and axiological foundation for reconstructing Islamic education to overcome the dichotomy between religious and scientific knowledge. Through the Islamization of knowledge project, al-Faruqi proposes twelve strategic steps for educational reform, including mastery of modern sciences, reexamination of classical heritage, development of an integrative curriculum, and research methodologies based on divine revelation. This approach fosters learners who are balanced intellectually, spiritually, and morally. The revitalization of Islamic education based on the Tawhid paradigm aims to restore the unity of knowledge and faith, shaping a generation of ulul albab capable of integrating scientific rationality with ethical and spiritual awareness in facing the challenges of modernity

    Get PDF
This research explores the interpretation and application of Fiqh Siyasa principles on war and peace by Islamist movements in Sulawesi, focusing on post-colonial dynamics and modern Indonesian reform. Fiqh Siyasa regulates state-citizen relations and interactions with non-Muslims, though its provisions on war and peace have limited contemporary application due to European colonialism and Western constitutionalism. The study traces the evolution of Fiqh Siyasa in Sulawesi, examining how local movements interpret these principles amid historical influences like colonial legacies, local rebellions, and conservative Islamic ideologies. Groups such as MIT, Mujahedeen KOMPAK, KPPSI, FKAWJ, MMI, FPI, and HTI exhibit diverse interpretations: some advocate for an Islamic state through dār al-Islam, while others promote coexistence by reinterpreting dār al-harb. These varied perspectives create a fragmented and context-dependent application of Fiqh Siyasa. The research contributes to understanding how global Islamic jurisprudential concepts adapt to regional realities, enriching discourse on Islam and state relations in modern Indonesi

Tradisi Hitung Waris dalam Walimatul ‘Ursy Masyarakat Melayu

    No full text
The tradition of calculating inheritance in walimatul ‘ursy of Jambi Malay community is a social practice that regulates the recording of wedding donations as a form of debt that must be returned in the future. This tradition reflects a reciprocity system that aims to maintain the family's economic balance, but also creates a financial burden for the next generation. This study aims to analyse the tradition of inheritance calculation from the perspective of Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah, to assess whether this practice is in accordance with the principles of justice and benefit in Islamic law. This research uses a qualitative approach with the method of sociology of Islamic law. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with traditional leaders, scholars, and people involved in this tradition, as well as participatory observation of the practice of calculating inheritance in weddings. Data analysis techniques included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing based on Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah theory and Islamic economic principles related to qardh (debt and credit) and sadd al-dharī'ah (prevention of harm). The results show that although the tradition of calculating inheritance has positive aspects in strengthening social relations and helping to finance weddings, this practice also has the potential to create economic pressures that are not in accordance with the principles of Maqāṣid al-Syarī'ah, especially in the aspects of ḥifẓ al-māl (protection of property) and ḥifẓ al-nafs (protection of the soul). This tradition can cause intergenerational financial burden if it is not regulated with a more flexible and transparent mechanism. Therefore, it is necessary to reformulate the practice of inheritance calculation in order to maintain its social values without causing excessive economic burden for individuals and families. In Islamic law, a marriage is happy news that must be spread widely to the public through a wedding reception/walimatul 'ursy without specifying minimum and maximum limits on financing. Of course, as a tradition that has developed in society, the implementation of walimatul 'ursy is in accordance with applicable rules and norms. Some areas of this tradition have different aims and objectives, some give invitation money as a gift and some use it as a loan. This means that this loan must be returned according to the value received. Problems arise when the gift of status by a guest to a shohibul hajah at a reception event is considered a debt and must be repaid when the giver holds a walimah event. In the Jambi Malay community, parents who hold a walimatul 'ursy for their children must have an "inheritance book" which is a guide/record of the value received. This research uses a sociological approach to Islamic law to analyze the tradition of calculating inheritance which is considered a debt. The phenomenon of the tradition of calculating inheritance of debts and receivables in the Jambi Malay community is included in the criteria for tirkah. The positive impact of tradition can ease the burden of financing and strengthen ties of friendship, while the negative impact is calculated as debts that burden the creator and impact the heirs

    No full text
This article aims to explain the inconsistency of Baitul Maal Wa Tamwil (abbreviated as BMT) in implementing Sharia principles. This is a case study research with an empirical legal approach which was conducted in LKMS BMT Almabruk Inc. (BMT Almabruk) of Tanah Datar Regency and BMT Al Fattah of Solok City. Data were obtained through interviews with BMT management and related documents from BMT. The result of study showed that firstly, Sharia compliance in fund distribution contract in the form of murabahah was divided into two: murabahah through cooperation with partners and murabahah with a wakalah contract. In the first model, Sharia implementation in Murabahah was consistent, meanwhile it was inconsistent in the second one. Similarly, it still contained the elements of usury in determining its administrative costs. Second, Sharia compliance in the fund collection contract appears to be inconsistent in mudharabah savings. Third, Sharia Supervisory Board at BMT Almabruk had been consistent in monitoring Sharia principles. On the other hand, the performance of BMT Al Fattah had been inconsistent in monitoring the Sharia principles themselves. Based on the results of the study, a new scheme needs to be found for BMT to be consistent with the principles of Sharia economic law, for instance, administrative costs are used as unit costs which are included in the acquisition cost; the implementation of Sadd adz-Dzariah concept in the merger of two contracts; the implementation of Murabahah contract is carried out only after the Wakalah contract is fully completed or the goods have become the property of  BMT; and the Mudharabah contract which applies to savings that can be withdrawn at any time is replaced by Hajj savings or Umrah savings that have a fixed term.
