    No full text
This study was motivated by the need to develop multicultural-based nahwu teaching materials to address challenges in understanding Arabic grammatical concepts within an inclusive and contextually relevant framework aligned with the values of religious moderation. The research aimed to produce nahwu materials that not only introduce grammatical concepts but also internalize multicultural and moderation values throughout the learning process. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach, adapting the Borg and Gall development model. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and tests, involving two expert validators. The development results show that the teaching materials present nahwu content systematically, integrating examples that reflect Indonesia’s cultural diversity. Expert evaluations indicate that the materials are highly suitable for use, with a validity score of 81.11%. Field trial results also demonstrate a significant improvement in student learning outcomes, with pretest and posttest averages of 60.33 and 81.17, respectively, signifying an increase of 20.84 points. Therefore, the multicultural-based nahwu textbook is effective in enhancing students’ understanding of nahwu concepts while fostering religious moderation values in Arabic language learning. This finding is further supported by positive student responses, which achieved a score of 81.11%, categorized as “excellent” in terms of eligibility criteria

This study examines Islamic Religious Education teachers' strategies in utilising smartphones as learning tools at SMA Negeri Sumber Harta, Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra Province. Smartphone technology has great potential to support modern learning, including religious Education, emphasising character building, material mastery, and understanding of spiritual values. This research focuses on how teachers integrate smartphones in the learning process, their impact on student learning outcomes, and the obstacles and opportunities that arise from the application of this technology. The research method used is qualitative, with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data was analysed descriptively to provide an overview of the learning strategies applied. The study results showed that PAI teachers use smartphones through various methods, such as religious applications, digital Qur'an and interpretation applications, online learning platforms, and discussion groups on social media to strengthen the interaction between teachers and students. Teachers also integrate smartphones in learning evaluations, such as Quizziz, Google Forms, and creative project-based assignments. This strategy can increase student engagement, facilitate access to information, and expand the scope of religious learning outside the classroom. However, challenges include some students' lack of digital literacy, potential distractions from irrelevant content, and gaps in accessing technology. This study concludes that smartphones are an effective learning tool with a strategic and directed approach. School policy support, digital literacy training for teachers and students, and supervision of teachers or parents in the use of technology are needed to minimise negative impacts. With the right approach, smartphones can support Islamic religious Education, which is relevant to the digital era and effectively shapes students' character and spirituality

    Get PDF
This study aims to develop a psychometric instrument, the Santri Friendship Attachment Scale (SFAS), to measure friendship attachment among boarding students (santri) in Indonesian pesantren, especially in the context of ghasab behavior, a normalized act of borrowing without permission. Employing a mixed-methods design, the research was conducted in five stages: qualitative interviews, expert validation using Aiken’s V, Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), and reliability testing. Initial qualitative data were gathered from santri and religious teachers to inform item development. Content validity was assessed by seven raters using Aiken’s V, resulting in 30 items exceeding the 0.70 threshold. EFA and CFA were conducted on data from 182 students across three pesantren using SPSS v23, revealing a final structure of 11 items across four factors: emotional support, brotherhood among friends, reciprocal relationships, and self-disclosure. The instrument demonstrated acceptable internal consistency (α = 0.728). The SFAS offers a valid and reliable tool to explore peer attachment and its influence on behavioral norms in communal educational settings

    Get PDF
Modernization triggered an identity crisis that prompted the birth of a new social movement, the hijrah movement became a movement for identity search among millennials in Indonesia. This paper presents a complete explanation of the development of the hijrah movement in Indonesia and the efforts of hijrah youth to build religious resilience in the midst of modernization. With an analytical descriptive approach, this study collects data using a literature study, then analyzes it with thematic techniques. The goal is to provide actual insight into the impact of the hijrah movement and how hijrah youth adapt and maintain religious consistency. The results of this study show that the hijrah movement is a step to find the identity of the millennial generation who are experiencing an identity crisis in the midst of modernization. The challenges faced include conflicts between religious values and modern lifestyles, maintaining religious consistency in the digital era, to social stigma against the hijrah movement from various community groups. Efforts to build religious resilience among hijrah youth can be understood within the framework of the social construction theory of Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmann, which takes place through three dialectical stages: externalization, objectification, and internalization. The religious resilience built by the hijrah youth is not solely based on a dogmatic foundation, but is the result of complex social dynamics. Values such as staying away from dating, covering the aurat, and choosing to avoid usury transactions are not only understood as religious obligations, but also as a collective identity that gives direction and meaning in life

    Get PDF
The rapid development of digital technology has reshaped Islamic communication by providing flexible access to religious knowledge and shifting traditional structures of authority. This study examines the relevance of Uses and Gratifications Theory in explaining the motivations of Muslim audiences in engaging with Muhammadiyah digital da’wah in East Java. This research applies a qualitative descriptive approach through documentation, observation, and textual analysis of official Muhammadiyah platforms such as tvMu, PWMU TV, pwmu.co, and PAI UMSurabaya Media during the period 2023 to 2024. The findings show that users demonstrate varied motivations aligned with key dimensions of the theory. These include the search for credible religious knowledge, appreciation of inspirational messages, expression of Islamic identity, participation in online religious communities, and efforts to obtain emotional comfort. Educational content through YouTube and website publications supports cognitive needs, while short video formats on emerging platforms strengthen emotional engagement and identity formation. Interactive features help build communal cohesion, affirming the emergence of digital religiosity. Although digital media democratizes access and expands the scope of da’wah, challenges remain, particularly the fragmentation of understanding and potential spread of inaccurate information. This study emphasizes the need for Muhammadiyah to strengthen participatory, creative, and multidimensional content in order to enhance digital literacy and sustain effective da’wah in contemporary society

Ethics of Leadership and Political Crisis in the Caliphate of Ali ibn Abi Thalib: A Socio-Civilizational Perspective

    Get PDF
This study examines the ethical dimensions of leadership and the political crises that occurred during the caliphate of Ali ibn Abi Thalib (656–661 CE) within the framework of early Islamic social history and civilization. The governance of Ali unfolded amid a profound crisis of legitimacy and communal disintegration following the assassination of Caliph Utsman bin Affan. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, integrating historical and sociological analysis of classical sources alongside contemporary studies, using a library-based research design.  The findings indicate that Ali’s leadership was rooted in principles of justice, knowledge, and high moral integrity. However, this political idealism frequently confronted a power landscape shaped by intrigue and competing interests. The Battles of Jamal and Shiffin, as well as the arbitration (taḥkim), illustrate how political conflict transformed into theological and social crises that contributed to the emergence of early Islamic sects such as the Khawarij, the Shi’a, and the Murjiʾah. These findings affirm that the leadership ethics of Ali ibn Abi Thalib represent an Islamic political vision grounded in justice, consultation, and the public welfare, while also offering moral insights for the development of contemporary Islamic leadership

Portrait of Ulayat Land Conflicts in Minangkabau Customary Law Community: Alternative Resolutions Under Islamic Law

    Get PDF
This research aims to describe an overview of the existence of ulayat land in the Minangkabau customary law community, the characteristics of ulayat land conflicts that occur in the Minangkabau customary law community, and alternative solutions to conflict resolution of ulayat land in the Minangkabau customary law community according to Islamic law. This research is a normative legal research conducted using the comparative legal study approach method. The legal material used comes from library materials or secondary data, then the data is analysed qualitatively juridically. Based on the results of the research, it can be explained that the existence of ulayat land in customary law communities has been recognised in various laws and regulations. However, horizontal and vertical conflicts still occur in the community. Litigation settlement, it turns out, has not been able to bring justice to customary law communities. This is because the resolution of conflicts over ulayat rights tends to prioritise the aspect of formal legality alone. Therefore, in resolving various customary land conflicts that occur, it is a necessity for Minangkabau customary law communities that make Islam the only religion adopted to consider ways of dispute resolution based on Islamic law, such as through ishlah or peace. Thus, in the midst of legal pluralism that applies in Indonesia, in addition to State law, the provisions in Islamic law and customary law should also be used as a reference in resolving any ulayat land conflicts in the community
