This paper presents one possible reading of Igor Stanojoski\u27s novel "Dyssomnias" interpreted through Bauman\u27s fluid interpersonal relations and the ethical norms of the postmodern age. It is a novel in which the narrator\u27s personal family drama is intertwined with the collective drama of the revolutionary protests on Maidan Square in 2013 in Ukraine, as well as with the conditions in Macedonian society, fake democracy, psychological warfare, and fake news,
and the influence of the new forms of propaganda on the psychological state of the individual.
The starting point for the interpretation of the novel is the critical views of Malcolm Waters on globalization and the global village where the interests of powerful transnational structures can be easily incorporated and realized through various manipulations The paper also uses the recommendations of the psychologist Claude Steiner for recognizing and exposing the manipulations of the two involved parties in the global conflicts and their transmission through the working style of of individual media personalities, which then also affects their private love life.
Through a detailed analysis of the two parts of the novel, which have as their motto statements from the collection of short stories "War Doesn’t Have a Female Face" by the Nobel laureate Svetlana Aleksievich, the paper concludes that in the postmodern globalized society, in order to achieve the goals of the globalizers, people are often subject to manipulations that have a negative impact on ethics and interpersonal relations. Subsequently, we are still far from the end of unification, which shall be preceded by long exhausting military conflicts involving all resources of humanity.
PICIGIN: JEZIK U IGRI, IGRA U JEZIKU
The paper presents the results of field research of intragroup communication and language practices of members of one of the most recognizable Split subcultures – picigin players. The fundamental research question is whether a specific intra-group code was created within the urban vernacular of the city of Split under conditions of long-term intensive contact in a predominantly male circle – in the form of a special sociolect or only a communicative style, i.e. in what way language practice contributes to the formation of the identity of the researched group. The material collected by surveying and interviewing members of this community is analyzed from a narrower linguistic aspect, but also interpreted in a broader (socio)linguistic context. The collected language units with broader intra-group usage, mainly lexemes and idioms, including onymes, are categorized in terms of meaning, and the most frequent word formation processes and associated metaphorical concepts are specified as well. The paper also discusses the attitudes of picigin players towards different language varieties of the city of Split, as well as some gender aspects of their intragroup communication and the role of humor in shaping and expressing their social identity.U radu su predstavljeni rezultati terenskoga istraživanja unutargrupnih komunikacijskih i jezičnih praksi pripadnika jedne od najprepoznatljivijih splitskih supkultura – igrača picigina.
THE EUROPEAN SOLUTIONS FOR THE UNIFICATION OF THE LAW OF SUCCESSION
In the series of legal spheres in which serious efforts have been made towards the unification of legal rules within the European Union, those in the field of family and law of succession come last. The reasons are quite clear and simple. The enormous influence of the already established tradition in the field of the succession seemed an insurmountable obstacle, especially because of the obvious differences between the continental, Common Law system, and the countries belonging to the Nordic legal family. For that reason, harmonization in the area of law of succession was approached at that moment when the real need for uniform rules that would be a basis or a roadmap to overcome the collision of norms between national legislations related to succession became evident.Namely, the huge number of probate procedures that have a foreign element in them and whose value is not to be neglected, was a clear signal that the need to take specific steps that will lead to the desired goal is maturing. Of course, when we talk about the European perspective in the field of law of succession, we cannot in any sense say that the attempt to find appropriate solutions will mean a complete break with the succession legal systems of the member countries, but on the contrary, it should mean consistent respect for national regulations , placed in a wider context, with the aim of solving some disputed issues on the one hand, but also rationalizing the costs related to probate proceedings with a foreign element on the other hand.In summary, the adoption of the European Regulation on Succesion 650/2012 was preceded by slow and cautious steps and activities of the authorized institutions of the European Union, of which we will single out as particularly significant the recommendations of the European Parliament from 16.10.2006, most of which are regulated in the new European Regulatio
EDUCATIONAL POTENTIAL OF YOUNG PEOPLE IN SERBIA FOR RELIGIOUS DIALOGUE AND TOLERANCE
Institutional education of young people for religious dialogue and tolerance inthe Republic of Serbia began with the introduction of optional teaching subjects ReligiousEducation and Civic Education in primary and secondary schools in 2001. At the sametime, a radical reform of the educational system was started in accordance with neoliberalideological principles and development strategies. Explicit and hidden religious andpolitical contents can also be observed in many other teaching subjects that have undergonereform changes in teaching contents, especially in primary education. Religiouseducation is conducted according to the confessional model for recognized churches andtraditional religious communities living in Serbia. As a general goal of Religious Education,it was pointed out that it should provide students with a complete religious view ofthe world and life, as well as enable them to freely adopt the spiritual and life values of theChurch or community to which they belong. Then, that this goal should be achieved inan open and tolerant dialogue, with respect for other religious experiences and views. Inthe tasks of Religious Education, it is indicated that it should develop in students the aspirationtowards responsible shaping of common life with other people, peoples, religiouscommunities and cultures different from their own. On the other hand, Civic Educationis defined as education for democracy and civil society. The main goal of teaching in thissubject is to acquire knowledge and develop skills for the role of a responsible citizen forlife in a democratically organized and humane society based on respect for human andcivil rights, the right to diversity and the development of multiculturalism. The teachingcontent in these, as well as in other complementary subjects, has been influencing theformation of basic value attitudes and rules of behavior for two decades, thus creating anew religious and political culture among young people that contributes to a more tolerantattitude towards many social issues and a better understanding of various social phenomenaand relationships. It is a well-founded assumption that young people studying inSerbia have the educational potential for religious dialogue and tolerance
SOCIAL CHANGE ACCORDING TO BULGARIAN NEW AGE
The modern world citizen today rejects Christian morality as retrograde. Thus,a modern, syncretic, and global alternative to the human self emerges – New Age movement, which is becoming more widespread and sought after by quickly solving life’s problemsand ensuring personal happiness. The cultural Christianity of the Bulgarians facilitates the spread of New Age beliefs andpractices: the historically established “pagan Christianity” of the Bulgarians is manifestedby latent religiosity, dualistic, rich mythological demonology, and oral patriarchal tradition. At first sight, Bulgarian New Age is a liberal religion (according to Peter Beyer): tolerantand ecumenical, with the aim of including more people to work for the benefit of theworld community. But more in-depth research reveals that the proximity in the doctrinesof Bulgarian New Age and Bulgarian Orthodoxy in everyday life allow their conflict-freecoexistence. Additionally, the sociological interpretation of Mark Satin’s quadrant showsthat, unlike the Western New Age, Bulgarian New Age beliefs and practices represent aconservative response to life’s challenges, closer to monolithic institutions than biolithicones: “the path of freedom = the path of suffering = the path of redemption”. Therefore, both the Bulgarian “high” New Age and Bulgarian Orthodoxy are two conservative responsesin a globalized and secularized world. Interpreted through Orthodox theology,Bulgarian New Age is a commune movement: “from below”, organic, informal, non-legal,non-institutionalized, non-hierarchical. In functional terms, it represents a “synthetic metanarrative”of traditional Bulgarian Orthodoxy and particularly Petar Danov’s teaching, which derives its strength from the claim for Bogomil heritage and avoiding the “confessionalcurse”, and the social change needs time and hard self-work
COOPERATION BETWEEN LOCAL AUTHORITIES AND RELIGIOUS ACTORS AS A KEY FACTOR IN PREVENTING CONFLICT. THE CASE OF HINDU AND SIKH COMMUNITIES IN THE ITALIAN CITIES OF NOVELLARA AND REGGIO EMILIA
Religious actors are often called to take an active part in initiatives promotedby European Institutions because of their potential to prevent conflict and ease socialtensions that can arise among people of different religions. Member States are called tosupport a sustained, open and transparent dialogue with the different religions communitiesas a tool for peacekeeping and promoting social cohesion in Europe and at its borders. The role of local authorities is crucial in this process; virtuous cases are the Italianmunicipalities of Novellara and Reggio Emilia, whose abilities to value the presence ofSikh and Hindu communities in their territories led to the publication of a Handbook forLocal Authorities, titled “Valuing religious communities as key actors of social cohesion”,with the patronage of the Council of Europe: an example of how local best practices caninfluence European principles from the bottom up. The paper aims to explore in detail thedifferent ways in which these religious actors and local governments collaborate and cooperate:the enhancement of places of worship, the promotion of interfaith dialogue andthe shared participation in religious festivities. These are policy strategies aimed towardsa collective education for plural and inclusive citizenship
CHRISTIAN DIALOGUE AND COOPERATION FOLLOWING ŽELJKO MARDEŠIĆ’S IDEAS
Following the idea of the famous Croatian sociologist Željko Mardešić (JakovJukić), this paper analyzes Mardešić’s vision of Christian dialogue and cooperation in thecontext of contemporary sociology of religion. The presented vision of dialogue and cooperationin relation to various social, cultural, and religious changes calls for expandingthe space for dialogue and cooperation. According to Mardešić, dialogue and cooperationpresuppose the existence of opposite ideas and not necessarily identity; otherwise, they would be reduced to mere confirmation. Thus, dialogue and cooperation observedseparately contain an entire program and are key to the realization of Christianity in thefuture. Željko Mardešić sees the future of Christianity along the lines of the Second VaticanCouncil, which remains the “compass” for the Catholic Church, on four council levels:establishing a dialogue with divided Christians, major world religions, non-believers,and the modern world. Importantly, dialogue and cooperation in the Church representan unavoidable prerequisite to establishing four effective dialogues with the world. Inthis context, the authenticity of Christian dialogue and cooperation, according to ŽeljkoMardešić, can be summed up in a few demanding words: kindness, forgiveness, mercy, service, peace, and the joy of hope. A person – not seen as an object but a subject of experience– is certainly changed by every dialogue because the experience itself is dialogicaland open to cooperation
Comparative Analysis of Transport and Storage Information Systems of the European Union and Serbia Using Fuzzy LMAW and MARCOS Methods
Information and communication technology is one of the critical factors for the business success of modern transport and storage. Therefore, it is important to research the information system of transport and storage from different aspects. In this paper, starting from that, a comparative analysis of the selection and ranking of the information system of transport and storage in the European Union and Serbia is carried out based on the FLMAW - MARCOS method. The obtained empirical results show that the top five countries according to the information system of transport and storage include: Malta, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Spain and Slovenia. Germany ranked thirteenth, France sixteenth and Italy eighteenth. Bulgaria (in twenty-fifth place) and Romania (in twenty-sixth place) are in an unenviable position. In the last (twenty-eighth) place is Belgium. Serbia is in twenty-second place, and is in a worse position compared to the countries in the region (Slovenia - fifth place and Croatia - fifteenth place). In order to improve the information system in the future, a greater application of information and communication technology in transport and storage is necessary, especially in countries ranked at a lower level. The effects of this are to improve the overall transport and storage performance
TAX CULTURE: A BIG STEP TOWARD VOLUNTARY TAX COLLECTION
Governments of all countries have introduced various taxes, being that they are the main source of public revenues that finance public expenditures. At the same time, the taxpayers are looking for ways to pay as little tax as possible. The objective of the paper is to determine whether (and if so, how) tax culture affects the fulfillment of tax obligations. The paper is based on the hypothesis that the tax culture plays a significant role in voluntary tax collection wherefore the enforced tax collections are reduced. The issue of tax non-compliance can be overcome notably by ensuring an efficient, effective and fair tax regime and evolving a tax culture which would have a presumed good cooperation between the tax administration and taxpayers. Non-transparent and excessively complex tax laws, which are difficult to understand by an average educated taxpayer, and unequal application of the same tax provision to different taxpayers seriously undermine the trust in public authorities. The crisis of moral and social values, which occurs in modern societies, also reflects the taxpayers’ attitude toward orderly and conscientious payment of taxes. Since creating a “perfect” tax system, which would suit to all taxpayers, is impossible, a key tool for improving tax culture is taxpayer education about the importance of paying taxes to the provision of public goods and services. However, there is still much work to be done in building a sustainable tax culture
