GENDER PARTICIPATION – GENDER PROTECTION PENDULUM
Get PDFInternational law safeguards our universal commons and international peace and security while protecting those the most vulnerable to human rights abuses, such as participants in existing migration towards the European Union. This article aims to shed light on the link between two international law fields: gender equality and the protection of victims of human trafficking among migrants who diverted their journey through the Western Balkan Route embracing Bosnia and Herzegovina since 2018. The research’s relevance is found instatistics from 2018 to 2022 and recent studies on the inadequate protection of migrants from human traffickers and smugglers along the Western Balkan Route. Thus, the article argues that the gender inequality in the law enforcement agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina hinders proper identification and protection of VHT in joint migrations of men, women and children, enabling their further trafficking towards the European Union.The methodological framework includes the desk analysis of the gender mainstreaming legal framework and goes over international and national regulations on combating human trafficking. Qualitative research on the main impediments to the identification of the victims of human trafficking includes responses from NGO practitioners mandated to protect migrants in the temporary reception centres in Bosnia and Herzegovina, highlighting the presence of the VHT among migrants. Research results present the flagship components of migrants’ negligence in reporting human trafficking; one of the principal reasons is their non-confidence in law enforcement agencies, which are seriously discriminated against women regarding participation and management position holding. The article demonstrates the intersectionality of international law focus areasin the gender participation-gender protection pendulum and urges for increased participation of women in the security sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina and enhanced protection of the victims of human trafficking through international law implementation

Get PDFThe interest in analyzing German equivalents of the past-future tense specific to Macedonian, was sparked by the challenges faced while teaching students The variety of equivalents in German raised questions and dilemmas about the semantic aspects of this tense, which can be expressed in multiple ways. an inductive research analysis was conducted using corpus of 10 original works of Macedonian contemporary prose and their translations into German. The Research began with Koneski’s semantic classification, which was enhanced with suggestions for different combinations and conclusions drawn from the examples analyzed. These findings were then applied to the stylistic, temporal and spatial aspects of the corpus.Интересот за ова контрастивно проучување на германските еквиваленти на минато-идното време, како специфично глаголско време за македонскиот јазик, произлезе од работата со студентите при анализата на германските еквиваленти на македонските глаголски времиња. Како извор на прашања и дилеми се јавија значенските аспекти на ова глаголско време, кои имаат различни еквиваленти во германскиот јазик. Корпусот од 10 македонски прозни дела и нивните преводи на германски јазик беше применет како основа за индуктивната метода на истражување. Во трудот се поаѓа од значенската класификација на Блаже Конески и се даваат дополнителни предлози за комбинации од значенски компоненти, а заклучоците се темелат врз анализираните примери, кои потоа се обопштуваат за стилското, за временското и за просторното подрачје на корпусот
PERSONAL SERVITUDES IN CONTEMPORARY PROPERTY LAW

Contemporary property law systems in Europe have accepted this institute originating from Roman law, and have adapted it so that it can be incorporated within their national legislations. The paper aims to examine and analyze how personal servitudes have been adapted and incorporated into the national legislation of European countries and how the different trajectories of development of national legislation have affected that incorporation. Drawing from the similarities and differences in the regulation of personal servitudes in different legal systems, the paper also aims to identify the common characteristics of personal servitudes in contemporary property law systems in Europe
LEGAL MINDS AND FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE: SURVEY ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL LITERACY AMONG MACEDONIAN LAW STUDENTS
Get PDFFinancial literacy is an important competency that empowers individuals to manage their resources andmake prudent financial choices. In our work, we focus on examining financial literacy among law studentsin the Republic of North Macedonia. We conducted a survey with 129 law students from the UniversitySs. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje, the most prominent and oldest university in the country. The studentsdemonstrated high knowledge of banking and credit and low knowledge in more complex financial areas,such as the share market, compound interest rate, and time value of money. Moreover, we used ANOVAand logistic regression to examine how different factors impact financial literacy. The analysis of thevariance showed that there is a statistically significant difference between the students from various ethnicbackgrounds and students originating from different regions. The logistic regression was employed toanalyze the impact of socio-demographic, educational, and personal characteristics of the students on theirfinancial knowledge. The results suggested that only region is a statistically significant socio-demographicpredictor of financial knowledge. Personal characteristics, including financial influence and financialattitudes, have a favorable and statistically significant impact on the financial literacy of students, while theimpact of financial behavior has proved to be positive but insignificant. The results from the study canfurther be used by the relevant financial regulators and entities in the country to advance the learningenvironment about finance competencies. We also recommend the innovation and modernization of thecurriculums of law schools by integrating courses, training, and workshops that will strengthen students\u27financial knowledge
