Many Macedonian writers in their works have used words originating from the colloquial language of people without adapting them to the literary language, thereby enriching the vocabulary itself. There is a large fund of dialectally used word forms in the works of the great Macedonian writer Stale Popov, which is why we are devoting our attention to part of the vocabulary used in his works.

ETHICAL DILEMMAS AND ACCOUNTABILITY THE CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY REPORTING DIRECTIVE AS LABOR AND SOCIAL RIGHTS ACCOUNTABILITY TOOL

Beginning of 2023, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive(CSRD) entered into force, with a purpose to strengthen the rules concerning thesocial and environmental accountability of large EU and non-EU (if they earn overEUR 150 million on the EU market) companies which will now be expected toreport on sustainability. The EU law now requires all large companies and all listedcompanies (except micro-enterprises) to disclose information on what they see asthe risks and opportunities arising from social and environmental issues, and on theimpact of their activities on people and the environment. The new Directive willaim to ensure that investors have access to the information they need to assess theimpact of companies on people and the environment. In terms of labor and social rights, this is the first European attempt to linksocial and labor rights standards to the business competitiveness and access to EUfunding. As such, it is a very innovative approach, with large potential to rectify allexisting discrepancies between formally acknowledged labor and social rights ofworkers and practical implementation of those rights in business companies. In this paper, we will look into the main research question: whether theCorporate Sustainability Reporting Directive has potential to become the first-everregional labor and social rights accountability tool. In research for this question, wewill analyze provisions of the CSRD applicable to assess actual implementation ofinternational fundamental labor and social rights of workers and contractors.Further, we will examine if the Directive has sufficiently elaborated mechanisms to sanction companies which would not align their employment and labor policies tothe required standards of the CSRD

LOW VOTER TURNOUT: A SYMPTOM OF DEMOCRATIC DISCONTENT OR A DEEPER SYSTEMIC FAILURE?

The journey toward universal and equal suffrage, achieved primarily in thesecond half of the XX century, was a monumental step in shaping moderndemocratic societies. It marked the moment when voting became a right for all, notjust a privilege for a few. Yet, as this right became universal in democratic societies,an unexpected trend began to unfold. Democracies worldwide have started toexperience a troubling and persistent decline in voter turnout. Global electoralparticipation, which stood at 78.85% in 1946, has now diminished to 61.37%. Thesituation is even more alarming in Europe, where turnout has dropped from 88% in1946 to an average of 61% in 2024. This trend is deeply concerning, taking intoconsideration that democracy cannot function properly without citizens’involvement. Without a doubt, low turnout poses a danger to democracy as itundermines legitimacy of the political institutions, diminishes therepresentativeness and accountability of political leaders and reflects growing civicapathy and dissatisfaction with the political process. Furthermore, since politicalsystems often respond more to those who vote, low turnout allows certain groupsto wield disproportionate influence over elections and policy, often at the expenseof the broader public interest. Such a state is also a signal of inequality in politicalparticipation, further marginalizing already disadvantaged groups. Therefore, thispaper seeks to examine the underlying causes of declining voter turnout, as well aspropose strategies and measures to increase voter turnout in democratic societies

Ensuring the protection of personal data within universities is essential formaintaining the privacy and security of students, staff, and faculty. Universities mustimplement technical and organizational measures such as encryption, access control, regular staff training, and incident response plans to safeguard data. The aim of this paper is to analyze the measures and mechanisms implementedat the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje to ensure the protection of personal data. To obtainvalid and in-depth insights, a qualitative study was conducted through semi-structuredinterviews with key officials and content analysis of relevant documents. In addition,to enhance scientific reliability, a quantitative survey was carried out with otherstakeholders (teaching staff, administrative and technical staff, and students). The paperpredominantly presents results and conclusions drawn from primary data collectedthrough interviews, as well as secondary data obtained from the review of literature andthe analysis of documents. The findings indicate that the Faculty of Philosophy has established appropriatepolicies and practices for the protection of personal data of all stakeholders, thereby contributingto greater transparency and trust in institutional operations. In recent years, numerous regulatory acts have been adopted to secure various types of information.Significant security measures are in place, particularly concerning the personal dataof students and employees, exam results, and other critical faculty-related information. However, further enhancements are necessary due to ongoing threats to data security

NEUROPLASTICITY: STRUCTURAL AND FUNCTIONAL CHANGES IN THE BRAIN DURING PREGNANCY AND IN THE POSTPARTUM PERIOD

    No full text
The term ‘mommy brain’ is often linked to cognitive decline, however contemporary neuroscientific research shows the opposite: motherhood is a period of intensive neuroplasticity and cognitive reorganization. This paper looks at structural and functional changes in the brain during pregnancy and in the postpartum period, with a focus on the regions involved in social cognition, emotional regulation and motivation for nurturing. The reduction of the grey matter which occurs during pregnancy and postpartum is interpreted as a mark of neuron specialization and functional improvement of the cerebral cortex. Postpartum, there is functional strengthening of the cerebral networks, which is linked to the improvement of social cognition and increased responsiveness to the newborn. The paper suggests redirecting the public and scientific discourse from a narrative of deficit towards evolutionary perspective and valorization of neuroplasticity

    No full text
Over the past three decades, the EU has undertaken a wide range of activitiesaimed at its proliferation as a serious and respected security actor. Namely, in 1993the Union adopted the Common Foreign and Security Policy, then, in 1998, it laid thefoundations of the European Security and Defense Policy, while in 2003 it adopted thefirst security strategy, by which practically began the development process of its strategicapproach to security. Starting from the significance that strategic aspects have insecurity approaches designing (at national, regional and international levels), the paperattention is directed to the analysis of the strategic approach of the European Union inthis regard. To this end, the focus is specifically placed on the research of the three strategicdocuments to date (2003, 2016 and 2022), with which the Union designs its ownstrategic approach and response to the dynamic and challenging security environment.Hence, the intention is aimed at providing a clear perception and a more detailed understandof the evolutionary character of the EU’s strategic approach to security, withparticular reference to the main challenges and perspectives in this context

CREATIVITY IN SOCIAL WORK AND SOCIAL POLICY EDUCATION: THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND A STUDY OF STUDENT ATTITUDES

    No full text
Creativity is a key component in contemporary education, especially within thefield of social work, where professionals face complex and ever-changing societal challenges. The aim of this study was to examine students’ perceptions of their own creativity, the educational climate, and family support as factors that either foster or hindertheir creative potential. The research was conducted in May 2025 with a sample of 57students from the Institute of Social Work and Social Policy. A questionnaire consistingof 20 Likert-scale items was used, divided into three dimensions: self-perceived creativity, school climate, and family support. The results revealed a moderately high levelof self-perceived creativity (M = 3.84), a strong sense of support from the family (M =4.11), but a weaker perception of institutional support (M = 3.21). Correlation analysisindicated a significant relationship between self-perceived creativity and family support(r = 0.62), as well as a moderate link with the educational climate (r = 0.44). These findingsconfirm the importance of contextual influences in the development of creativityand point to the need for institutional changes to encourage it more actively
